Yeah, that was incredible, NY had no chance in that game, although I still think they win the series if Torre set up the rotation differently coming out of the epic epic BOS series.
The alternative was Urquidy, are you sure he'd be doing better? Either way, they have Cole on full rest next game.Seems like starting Verlander on short rest was not a good plan.
I miss Andy PettitteBeing able to pitch a big game on 3 days rest is really hard, I don't think Roy Halladay ever did it either.
I don't think so. The ball was there. What a sick ass play though.Would he have been safe if he slid direct into the plate, vs going around?
They believed the hype that Verlander is some kind of God.Why the hell are the Astros starting Verlander on three days of rest up 2-1?
Because the alternative was someone named Urquidy. Why the hell are the Astros starting Verlander on three days of rest up 2-1?
Did they forget Wade Miley exists? This is the kind of managing that made everybody remember Yogi Berra as a catcher.Because the alternative was someone named Urquidy.
Bullpen game vs bullpen game ... i don't see the issueBecause the alternative was someone named Urquidy.
Miley had a 16 ERA in SeptemberDid they forget Wade Miley exists? This is the kind of managing that made everybody remember Yogi Berra as a catcher.
Miley is really terrible lately.Did they forget Wade Miley exists? This is the kind of managing that made everybody remember Yogi Berra as a catcher.
The fanbase isn't "pathetic". They play in a horrid stadium in probably the worst geographical location in the market with absolutely zero meaningful public transportation.Their pathetic fanbase doesn't deserve that team.
I'll fire up the DeLorean! And an ERA of 3 before that.
Probably some of the same people who sell out Amalie Arena for every Lightning home gamewhere did all those people come from?
They’re like 18th in local TV ratings and the Lightning drew better at the Trop than the Rays did.The fanbase isn't "pathetic". They play in a horrid stadium in probably the worst geographical location in the market with absolutely zero meaningful public transportation.
On purpose, in order to face the TwinsThey went 1-4 the final week and finished behind HOU because of it.
41 game season vs an 81 game season with many of the home Lightning games back then on weekends. You have a link regarding being 18th in local TV ratings?.....I see the ratings most nights and they do very well.....just found a mid-season link ..they hold their own .... https://www.bizjournals.com/bizjournals/news/2019/07/22/a-ratings-home-run-harper-machado-drive-increases.htmlThey’re like 18th in local TV ratings and the Lightning drew better at the Trop than the Rays did.
It’s baseball vs hockey, you should not be outdrawn by your local hockey team even in Canada.41 game season vs an 81 game season with many of the home Lightning games back then on weekends. I've lived here 30 years...the Trop is a bad stadium in probably the worst geographical location ... The population base lives 45+ mins away which includes a drive over a long bridge which is notorious for being jammed. There is no debating the attendance sucks, but if they built a destination stadium like the Braves did, and put it in downtown Tampa where it belongs, we would not be having this conversation...Speaking of the Braves, they endured years of ridicule over empty seats during their playoff runs back in the 90s and early 2000s..It’s baseball vs hockey, you should not be outdrawn by your local hockey team even in Canada.

Maury Brown will come out with the final numbers any day now.
And they deserved it, Atlanta gets a lot of criticism as a not particularly good pro sports town.I've lived here 30 years...the Trop is a bad stadium in probably the worst geographical location ...
