Who is the announcer that won't shut up on the Tiger/DJ group? Killing me....
Paul Azinger-he is terrible. He had this gem yesterday I had to rewind multiple times just to take it all down verbatim...
“I think you and I are firm believers that feel trumps thought ... actually feel creates thought ... then you try to repeat the thought, so you can repeat the feel ... remember the thought at least, so you can repeat the feel. And nobody has had greater feel than Tiger ... when you can combine the power with the feel ... what a combination that is. Dustin Johnson’s got that going. Golf is a real thinking man’s game.”

That was a long distance piece of work by DJ - 35 or 40 foot birdie? Took 11 seconds to get in the cup.... locked in indeed/running away from the field at this point....

I don't think that's Azinger. I think they mean the guy with the southern accent (and whom I complained about yesterday). That dude is awful. Just so annoying, and so often wrong.

EDIT: I'm talking about the live stream guy. So if you're talking TV coverage, maybe we're surrounded.

At least Poulter is hanging around in there. Love to see him pick up another stroke on the way in. Need someone with a personality high on the leaderboard going into the weekend to make it wathable

DJ's first two days are even more impressive because he got the raw deal weather-wise. The guys who went off early yesterday and late today had a huge advantage.

Spieth goes on a run, one shot below the cut line. Then proceeds to three putt 17 and blow it on 18. +9 and missed the cut.

The players are right, this is a clown-show. There is so much luck involved in this US Open that it's almost unbearable to watch. I can understand a percentage of good shots going unrewarded, but a good majority of quality shots are being penalized for no reason.

This isn't golf. I'm all for tough setups, but this isn't even enjoyable to watch.

I haven't heard any players complaining this year. Who have you heard calling it a clown show?

deep inside Guido territory
The course is fine. It’s hard but not unfair. Rain has softened greens up considerably and the wind is non existent today. There’s low scores out there. Daniel Berger is -5 thru 15 and Reed/Finau are -3 thru 5 and 13 respectively.

For people who missed it he blew his putt for bogey by the hole and ran up to it and while still rolling he hit back towards the hole.

So I'm reading on Twitter that a lot of people are pissed at Phil My question to them is, "Who cares?" It's a penalty, he took his medicine, but it's not like he took a dump on the game or the course. He was frustrated.

The only person he hurt there was himself.

I agree in general, however, I think part of it is shock that it was Lefty , not a petulant John Daly type. But look out for a conduct unbecoming, golf is a snooty game , integrity and all that. You simply don’t run after a ball as it’s about to scoot off the green and putt while still in motion . It’s a poor look. But a definite WTF moment

It was definitely, completely and utterly a WTF moment. But he did take a 2 stroke penalty. It was kind of unique, too.

I hoping nothing more comes of it. He took his medicine, he’ll have a few awkward questions after I’m sure. But I have a nagging feeling USGA might look at it differently because it was such a WTF moment and sets a poor example.

The USGA isn't going to suspend him. He'll apologize, act embarrassed, and move on. His fans will forget about it, and his haters will add it to the pile.
