So that means that the Colts will now be run in a professional and competent manner? Should we as Pats fans be worried? I was hoping they would hire the GM equivalent of Rich Kotite or John Idzik. Always hate to see the competition actually make a good move. He's the Kansas City Nick Cesario
Let's not go crazy here. Irsay is forcing him to keep Pagano this season. So there's still plenty of whackiness at the top.So that means that the Colts will now be run in a professional and competent manner? Should we as Pats fans be worried? Similar concerns to when the Jets hired Bowles. So that means that the Colts will now be run in a professional and competent manner? Should we as Pats fans be worried? Your reading waaay too much into that. It was more of a job and rank comparison. Sort of like Lincoln/Trump.So that means that the Colts will now be run in a professional and competent manner? Should we as Pats fans be worried? I was hoping they would hire the GM equivalent of Rich Kotite or John Idzik. Always hate to see the competition actually make a good move.
Do you think he meant to send it as a direct message to someone and screwed up? I can't imagine someone tweeting that.Jim Irsay with a gem on twitter last night. I do like his taste, so I'll say that.

How do you know the players weren’t hard of hearing? Hearing devices are protected under the ADA. That is federal law. We need to stop this ridiculous witch hunt to find teams other than the Patriots who cheat. You’re not going to find any. Get over it already. The Patriots are cheaters and it’s in the history books. Look it up.
That's satire, right? Now here is the best defense of one's sports team that I've ever read - the ADA. Look it up!
SidelineCameras was being sarcastic. Bannedfromchoirpractice, I'm not so sure. That's satire, right?
I wonder if Dr. Jamie Naughright will attend?Jim Mora won't attend the erection of the Peyton Manning statue ceremony.

I hope the statue has room behind it so fans can pretend to be tea-bagged.
Wasn't the erection part of the problem ?Jim Mora won't attend the erection of the Peyton Manning statue ceremony.

To be fair, they're putting it in Dr. Guyer's waiting room.Wait...Peyton is getting a statue? Holy cow, I know he was real good and all, but a statue?
Wait, I thought he already was a statue?Wait...Peyton is getting a statue? Holy cow, I know he was real good and all, but a statue?
This is gold, pure gold.Wait, I thought he already was a statue?
Are you serious? He is a top 10, if not top 5 QB of all time. He WAS the franchise. I think it's a little too soon, but Manning absolutely deserves a statue.Wait...Peyton is getting a statue? Holy cow, I know he was real good and all, but a statue?
I said that I knew he was real good. And he did a lot to help the franchise. But I don't know, I think we may have softened the criteria as to who would deserve a statue. For example, Brady could very well got one in Foxboro, but I am not sure there should be one.Are you serious? He is a top 10, if not top 5 QB of all time. He WAS the franchise. If you're not sure that Brady should have a statue then I don't think it's a 'maybe' that you're not a statue guy.I said that I knew he was real good. And he did a lot to help the franchise. But I don't know, I think we may have softened the criteria as to who would deserve a statue. For example, Brady could very well got one in Foxboro, but I am not sure there should be one.
Maybe I am just not a statue guy.
At the least, I'd assume you'd be cool with the rhapsodic example right above you.Yeah, I knew as soon as I hit enter I would get pushback on that.
Honestly I don't know the answer. Maybe there are 2 problems with me:
1. I am not a statue guy
2. I really dislike Peyton Manning
I'm with you, brother. Statues really should serve some sort of civic purpose, educational value, and commemoration of community impact. Being a good sportster is nice, but he's no General Sheridan:Yeah, I knew as soon as I hit enter I would get pushback on that.

Not sure if serious, but that is exactly where I am at.I'm with you, brother. Statues really should serve some sort of civic purpose, educational value, and commemoration of community impact. Being a good sportster is nice, but he's no General Sheridan:
For Peyton Manning to have a statue isn't a travesty, but it might be a travishamockery. Then again, this is the Colts and their participation-banner-loving owner. Manning getting a statue for one Super Bowl win, a couple MVPs, and vamoosing to Denver to win a bit more is silly; it devalues what "getting a statue" used to mean. I'd argue there's only about 15 athletes worldwide who deserve a statue. Though I will note that rich owners can argue otherwise, by putting up monuments to whomever they choose.
What I'm saying is that I hope there is a new tradition born of the Manning Statue: paint his balls. THAT'S a monument that celebrates all of Manning's achievements.
I don't think Brady should get a statue because a statue is not sufficient. At a minimum, he should be getting an airport. If you're not sure that Brady should have a statue then I don't think it's a 'maybe' that you're not a statue guy.
What would possibly be your criteria?
I don't know that President Brady would like that kind of idolatry, but we're leave that to Vice President Giselle to decide.Screw that. Patriots next stadium will be downtown.
Yep, Brady Stadium in Bradyville, MassaBradysetts.
I don't really think #2 is a problem...Yeah, I knew as soon as I hit enter I would get pushback on that.
Honestly I don't know the answer. Maybe there are 2 problems with me:

So Brady and Giselle are going to live in separate states?I don't know that President Brady would like that kind of idolatry, but we're leave that to Vice President Giselle to decide.
That only matters in a close election. So Brady and Giselle are going to live in separate states?
I think if you're going to get caught up in Constitutional fine print, I'm guessing the fact that Giselle isn't a natural born citizen might preclude her from the VP anyways. Plus, the VP has got to be BB in the Dick Cheney kind of really-running-things-from-the-sidelines role, anyways, right? So Brady and Giselle are going to live in separate states?
If we're not going to create a new tradition and paint the Manning Statue's balls a different color every week in the fall, then can I suggest we find some way for the statue to wave it's hands and install a loudspeaker that blares "OMAHA!" at random intervals?I don't get the fuss over the Manning statue. Lucas Oil Stadium is always filled with busts anyway.
This is how I feel. Brady is great at football. I'm a huge football fan, but at the end of the day, so what?I'm with you, brother. Statues really should serve some sort of civic purpose, educational value, and commemoration of community impact.
I am SO on board for this. And it fits my "civic purpose" criteria - pissing off Raider fans is something we should all aspire to do.I'm also for building a Tuck Rule statue, preferably in Oakland, just to piss off Raiders fans.
Where can I donate?I am SO on board for this. And it fits my "civic purpose" criteria - pissing off Raider fans is something we should all aspire to do.
Plus @Gunfighter 09 is reading this, clenching his teeth, and mumbling "those bastards" under his breath.
My feelings about statues have just been changed! I am all in for this.I'm also for building a Tuck Rule statue, preferably in Oakland, just to piss off Raiders fans.
You missed a few (and I may have, too)- Red/Yaz/Johnny Kelly/ the Hoyts/OuimetThis is how I feel. Brady is great at football. I'm a huge football fan, but at the end of the day, so what?
I think Boston has done well with sports figure statues. The Ted Williams one is not just of Ted Williams, but with him and a kid, celebrating the history of both Williams and the Red Sox with the Jimmy Fund. The Teammates statue celebrates that group of guys. Bill Russell had civic impact beyond the court and the placement of the statue at government center signifies that. The Bobby Orr statue outside the garden commemorates not just his career but also that moment, one of the iconic images in hockey history.
In that vein, a statue of Brady with the backwards cap and either hands on head or the double-finger-point might be appropriate, because it celebrates not just Brady but also that moment, the first Super Bowl victory in franchise history. I'm not as keen on a statue of just Brady dropping back to pass or whatever.
I'm also for building a Tuck Rule statue, preferably in Oakland, just to piss off Raiders fans.
How about Ronaldo?Edit: I like all these statues, but I like statues. Put up a few more and it's fine with me.
