That's so wierd, his actions and twitter account made him out to be such a sober, even-keeled guy

Agreed, never saw that one coming.

Somehow he'll blame the Patriots for this.

Hoo-hoo-hoo hoosier land.
Not sure why there's so much hate for Irsay. He's a nut, but he lives and breathes Colts football and is very open and accessible to fans. During the season he is constantly giving away tickets, jerseys, etc. He's grown more meddlesome since firing Polian and Son (which was the right move), but he generally seems like his heart is in the right place. Sad to see him struggling with addiction again. He was by all accounts sober for quite a while. His wife, who is very new-agey and not a fan of football, divorced him in the last year. I imagine it's been some tough times for him.

Per Kravitz, he has lost 50 0r 60 pounds. Life long addiction problem. Friends have been trying to get him, at least, a driver. Relieved now b/c this may be a rock bottom moment.

Insofar as running the Colts are concerned he has done a good job and, given his dad, was born in the on deck circle at best.

Irsay has done a great job at having the number one pick when historically great QB's are available.

Do you agree the franchise has been well run? Cause it wasn't many years under pops.

Beyond that: lots of owners in those circumstances don't have the nerve to move on from Manning. And some of them who did would have picked the wrong successor. Luck was the right choice.

This is awesome on so many levels.
Don't let hatred blind you. I'll take Luck, you take RG III (with his two very serious knee injuries) and we'll compare notes in 3 years, ok?

You are confused. Why would I take Mr. Ed mouth and Barbaro health? I don't need the 3 years.  I agree with you on rather having Luck

Above, check
the concept, check
logo, check
having the pick, check
what many Pats fans think of the franchise, check

Thanks for clarification. They got hoodwinked on
Richardson, but generally I think they have been well run.

This guy needs help badly. And yes, I think he will be suspended.

I dont think they have been particularly well run since Polian senior left (was fired obviously, not stepped down) and I think Irsay is a clown even stripping out this weekend's events.

EDIT: Antics are not as funny now that he seems to be an addict and not a genuine clown, hope he gets the help he needs of course

Me neither.  The only thing I can think of is that Eisenhower saw the year (19)55 during his presidency.

Facial similarity? Or the fact that Ike smoked 4 packs a day during a good part of WWII, until he ordered himself to quit?

The Indystar article linked above has some speculation on the legal side:

Far more serious, Tompkins and Stoez agreed, are the four preliminary felony drug charges Irsay is facing.
But those charges could go away, Stoesz said, if Irsay has a prescription for the drugs.

"It's not unheard of," he said. "If he has prescriptions, there are no felonies."

Stoesz added that based on typical law enforcement practice in the county, the four drug charges suggest police found four different types of drugs in Irsay's vehicle.

The impaired driving charge also appears to involve drugs rather than alcohol. The Carmel police statement made no mention of alcohol and did not mention a preliminary breath test, which is typical information included in such reports when alcohol is involved in a DUI case. A department spokesman said he could not confirm or deny whether Irsay was given a breath test at the scene or at jail.

Stoesz said it sometimes can be more difficult to get a conviction in drugged-driving cases because prosecutors must prove a person had a level of a drug in the person's system that would render the person impaired. That is not as clear-cut, he said, as having a breath test that shows a blood-alcohol level at or above 0.08.

The most likely outcome, if Irsay does not have a prescription for the drugs, would be for him to take guilty pleas to DUI and one of the drug charges, Stoesz speculated. In such a scenario, he said, Irsay probably would be placed on probation for a year or two but not receive any jail time.

"That would not be Jimmy Irsay getting a break," Stoesz said. "That's what would happen with just about anybody under similar circumstances."

Apparently NFL players have an actual app you can search drugs in to see if they're banned by the NFL. I did not know this. Guess Mathis didn't take advantage of it. Hard to see them stopping Peyton's guys in good September weather without Mathis.

Here
Crossing threads here, but his agent was on Sportscenter saying that he used it because his mother has stage 4 cancer and they wanted to have another child before she died. That's a real scummy card to pull.

I don't doubt Mathis' story; his mother is dying, he and his wife do want to have another child while the mother lives, couples that have had twins (or more) are at much higher risk for multiple fetuses and much more at risk for several complications, use of Clomid does enhance male fertility, making the chances of natural conception go up. All of that checks out.

What doesn't check out or make sense is that Mathis trusted a fertility doctor to know about the NFL PED policy and that Mathis failed to do his due diligence by calling the team or the NFLPA to ask "is this OK to take?"

So, regardless of the reasons - which are valid - Mathis deserves to be suspended because he knew he could call and check, but didn't. That's on him.

A counterpoint -

The Doctor who proscribed the medicine is not a fertility doctor, but an anti-aging doctor. And has no previous history of operating as a fertility doctor. (http://naptown.co/robert-mathis-suspension-doctor-behind/)

Mathis knew what he was doing, got caught, and is now trying to find a way out of it.
