decision to be made over the weekend - leaning stayI guess McAdoo is staying then?
now go get Oriakhi
I would welcome it.You ready for the Reign of the Eagles?
No, Howard Eisley and Billy Curley are walking through that door though.I would welcome it.
Troy Bell get another year of eligibility?
If Leslie returns, they have to be the favorite. If he leaves, it changes everything. Toughest matchup in the ACC right now, he's a different level of athlete. Without him, they're good but not great.I think NC State absolutely cruises in the league next year. They're going to get revenge on a lot of curb stompings that have been handed out in the past 10 years.
Not sure on the announcement, it was supposed to be tonight, but word is he's headed to Georgetown.I thought Nerlens was deciding tonight.
If true, that's a huge surprise. I can't see Cal swinging and missing on him, but anything is possible. Not sure on the announcement, it was supposed to be tonight, but word is he's headed to Georgetown.
He's meeting with coaches today, but meantime he was seen working his student job on Sunday:
Stealing from Matt Norlander on Twitter: Gbinije is the seventh transfer at Duke in the past decade. UNC's had four in that timespan. Kentucky 17, UConn 14.
Mike G is a good kid, he just didn't think it was the right fit. Duke also has been going after a lot of wing players lately, Mike probably saw the writing on the wall.so it looks like Gbinije is transferring to Syracuse. I find this somewhat curious as 1) Syracuse rarely takes transfers; 2) Boeheim and Coach K are buddies; and 3) Syracuse will soon be a conference foe. I'm interested to hear from any Duke fans what their impressions are of Gbinije and the move to Syracuse. If he was some kind of bad citizen I would have expected Coach K to communicate that to Boeheim.
To answer this, the ACC rule is you sit out 2 years and lose 1 year of eligibility if you transfer to another ACC school, same as most conferences. Its to prevent tampering. But since Cuse and Pitt aren't current ACC schools, Duke would have had to add them to the list. Coach K didn't see a need to do so, probably because of his relationship with Boeheim through USA Hoops. He also may have decided it wasn't worth the PR hit that Wisconsin and St. Joe's have taken in the last year. More here:I thought you couldn't transfer within conference?
I'm surprised Jay Bilas hasn't gotten back into coaching. He probably makes more money doing what he does plus practicing law anyways. Plus, he works the LeBron Skills Academy camps during the summer so he gets his coaching fix. Still, I'd take him as a coach any day of the week.Hubert Davis is leaving ESPN to join Roy Williams' staff at UNC. Hubert has worked his way into his role and become a very good announcer and analyst, and beyond that is one of the truly great people I have ever worked with, an outstanding man and father. He had told me in the past he didn't think he'd want to coach because he didn't see himself as a recruiter and he didn't love the idea of not being able to spend most of the offseason with his young kids. Clearly he's still got the hoops bug and wants to give this a shot, I'm sure he'll have a big impact on UNC's approach to the game.
Jay has no interest in returning to coaching, as far as he's told me. He loves what he does at ESPN, and he also really enjoys being able to work for his law firm. He doesn't handle a case load, and he cuts back during the season, but he does a little work with his firm even during March. I think Jay could have a head coaching position in a major conference if he wanted next year, but he isn't interested. Rece Davis calls him the "underground commissioner of college hoops" and he's exactly right. When coaches have trouble teaching a team or player something, they call Jay. When coaches need help with a scouting report, they call Jay. He's one of the most respected voices in the game, he just doesn't seem interested in recruiting, dealing with the NCAA, or having it be a 24-7, 365-days a year job. He could change his mind like Hubert, but I doubt it at this point.I'm surprised Jay Bilas hasn't gotten back into coaching. I love Fran Fraschilla's work. I'd love for him to replace Hubert Davis on GameDay. Gottlieb leaves a lot to be desired in my eyes. On the other hand I know Fran Fraschilla and Doug Gottlieb would like to be head coaches and applied for jobs this year. I think both would be great candidates to replace Hubert on GameDay (I'm sure many disagree with me on that though).
The other names I've heard for GameDay are Adrian Branch and Jay Williams. I don't think they'd double up with 2 Duke guys on there, so Williams is unlikely. But Branch has a lot of similar qualities to Hubert and would be a good option. Bardo would be another possibility, I think he would be great.I love Fran Fraschilla's work. And now the State Bureau of Investigation is involved, as the false courses may be a criminal matter."We had all this news about a rogue tutor," Smith explained. "There was a rogue assistant coach, a rogue agent, now, a rogue faculty member and a rogue administrative assistant. That's a lot of rogues."

23 UNC basketball players took classes that are now shown to be pretty much fake classes.
Removing a banner or two would be such a shame...
