I went to bed after they went down 2-0.  I'm coming back somewhat surprised they managed a point, while you guys are just raining shit down on them.  Was their comeback really that bad?

/I'm starting to believe that a fire-sale is what this team needs.  Lucic, Eriksson, Kelly, Campbell, Smith, Paille, Chara, Seidenberg, and McQuaid should be dumped if we can get a good return for them.  From what I've seen, this is going to be a tighter trade field, so there's got to be some takers, somewhere, right?

Trade almost anyone if we can get a good return for them. Brilliant! Why aren't you running this fucking team?

12 days ago things had settled back down, team was playing good, everyone was breathing again. A bad stretch of a few games (including a west coast trip which is always tough) and the stupid is back out in full force. I don't know if it's an internet thing, a generational thing, maybe I'm just an outlier, but people around here have zero conception of time and because of that have an embarrassing lack of patience. It's a constant contest as to who can reach peak hysteria quickest.

Yes this season has sucked, and yes the front office and coaching staff have made mistakes, and yes they might not win the Cup this season (Horrors, you fucking wanna be entitled Yankee fans), but people need to check themselves. A bad season, a bad 2 months, a bad week, a bad game, a bad period- all are met with this insatiable desire for heads to roll and that's fucking stupid. But it seems to be how people consume sports entertainment.

It's not "a bad stretch of a few games." It's a return to normalcy for this season. They had "a good stretch of a few games" surrounded on both sides by mediocre and uninspired hockey.

Normalcy isn't losing 5 straight or whatever they are doing now.

They played the beginning of the season pretty piss poor, albeit with some key injuries and not great goaltending, but were about a .500 team. Then they got back some of those players and played pretty well (recognizing that it was an easier schedule during this period). I think that team is closer to their actual talent level then the .500 team for the first 2+ months. The last week has been wretched, not the norm.

I think they're a pretty mediocre team overall, but capable of stealing a series come April. I don't look at the last 3 games and say that's how this team is, which is what far far too many people around here do.

Between here and everywhere.
They've lost 3 games (or more) in a row 5 times now, including this recent run this season.

They had only 3 wins (or more) in a row 3 times this season.

You can say this isn't normalcy, but it kind of is.

I think its pretty hiliarious that with each crushing loss, a couple of us (myself after the EDM) go from "we can salvage this year" to "blow it up and think for the next few years"
