Off-topic but a question for hockey players: Up in Hingham (from artisanal Brooklyn for a couple days for an 80th Bday party tomorrow. I'm 53, my fondest memories of growing up in this area involved pond hockey - it spawned a deep love of the game that abides to this day. It was a regional pastime enjoyed by everybody with a pair of skates and a stick. Went to south shore pond hockey Mecca East St. Skating Club near Cohasset this afternoon with my 9 year-old and played shinny for a couple hours - it was great in every way. Every way but one. We were alone. Not one single skater showed up between the hours of 2 to 4:45 to join in the fun. My question is; where are they? Where are the kids who cut school in a cold snap to take advantage? The private school kids on vacation? One teenager in the warming house to tend the fire and fail to produce hot chocolate - zero skaters. WTF? Anybody have a reasonable explanation for this apparent wide-scale south shore body-snatching?
