Given their recent history, I would take out ACL insurance if I was Henry.

Being a backup QB might be the best job in sports. The top ones make 8-10 million, you aren’t getting your brain scrambled every week, and you still get to live the rockstar lifestyle of being an NFL quarterback.

I think it's an overpay, but the only real difference between 2021, 2022 and 2023 for Mooney is that in one of them he got 140 targets and in the other 2 he got 60. He's the same guy, and that guy is a #3 WR. Which makes it funny that they paid him so much to be their #2/#3 and probably get 60 targets again for 450-500 yards
I think it will be a race to see who is the worse overpay - Mooney or Cousins.

The Cleveland Browns are going full throttle on rapist QBs by signing Jameis Winston to backup Deshaun Watson. 1-year $8.7M for Winston.

That number is shockingly low. Would have loved him at that price and a fair amount higher. Seems to be really coming into his own the last year +.
I was just about to post something similar. That's a GREAT deal for the Steelers.

Agreed. I would've really loved to see him play in NE. There's still some time to get an impact defensive FA save Takitaki.

I'm putting my money on this being the year the wheels fall off for Henry. He's a machine, but even machines have limits.

He only averaged 68 yards per game last year, 30 yards less than at any other point in the last 5 seasons.

We know that RB's tend to fall off after around 1500 carries. 1800 carries is an even more aggressive figure. Henry's over 2000 carries...roughly 1800 of which came in the last six years. And we know how hard that man runs. I have no idea how hes done it for as long as he has, but I'd be impressed if he even ends up over 1,000 yards next season.

I was looking into this earlier and I think Henry can get to 2500 carries before the cliff. Bigger backs tend to last a bit longer than the sub 220 backs. Jerome Bettis had over 3K carries before he hit the cliff and Corey Dillon had 1600yds in his age 30 season for NE. I don't see Henry getting 300 carries next season but he could be highly effective at 225-250 carries in that offense. He probably has 2 more productive seasons in him assuming he stays relatively healthy.

Can’t get over the Falcons broadcasting to the world that they didn’t want to pay Lamar but now they they’re guaranteeing an older, injured Cousins $100m.

Did you forget that ATL would have given up two 1st rounders for the right to guarantee Lamar twice as much without the players or future 1s around him?

Miguel says this is wrong. Especially because Parker isn't being released until tomorrow.

Russell Wilson hasn’t been officially released either and he’s “signed” with Pittsburgh

Presumably the Pats told Parker he was being cut and told him it was ok to negotiate elsewhere

I think the question is whether Parker has offsetting language in his contract or not. Schefter seems to think not, Miguel seems to think so. I'm not sure what is standard.

I did not. Lamar is still a better value.

If I was betting I’d go with Miguel 100 times out of 100 vs Schefter whose doing a million things.

Offset language is automatic.

Schefter is just parroting what Parkers agent told him.

Unless there's a trade where the Patriots are getting something to eat Parkers salary, they'd just cut him and get whatever salary Philly is paying him credited back on the cap next year.

PIT is trading WR Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers, per Schefter.
For Donte Jackson and a very late pick swap. Is Donte Jackson good? That is a deal the Patriots should have been all over if not, I think you could argue Diontae would have been the best WR available if he were part of this FA class.

Yeah. Parker is a 7+ year vet, and so his minimum vet salary would work out to be $1.21 million. Since that is pretty much exactly the number that Schefter mentions I would think that they agreed to a vet minimum deal and the agent is just trying to puff or Schefter is confused. Patriots will probably get $1.21 million credit in 2025.

Decent, definitely playable as your #2 corner.
Johnson's value around the league is probably pretty low based on:
1. Expiring deal
2. Tons of attitude issues, basically quit on his team last year.

100%. He is pretty much the exact WR you do not want working with a young QB. I fear for Bryce Young's mental health.

Ravens are releasing OLB Tyus Bowser, source confirmed. This move was long expected and creates $5.5M in salary cap space. Bowser missed all of last season with a knee injury. Former 2nd-round pick had signed a 4-year, $22M contract in 2021.
@jeffzrebiec with it first.

Edit: weird. So posting the twitter link doesnt work anymore? Had to add a media component and use the 19-numerical code for the tweet.

I’d be all over Hunter Renfrow. Only 28 and the raiders really phased him out 2 years after a big season.
Had injury issues (concussion I think?), but also he's a small unathletic guy with a pretty low ceiling who can really only play slot

Sold! At least that guy who bought the Renfrow Pats jersey the season before the draft that year could break it out.

I don’t see the intrigue with Renfrow at this point. Pop definitely has more juice and that’s what this offense needs. He might be a decent option as a zone buster for a team with more established guys.
