1. Jones, Mac
Anyone else, truly? Defense played well enough that a competent offense would have had a shot.

They may realize it today, but not much they can do about it now. With the 85 Bears' defense they probably still would have lost. Dallas pretty much marched up and down the field and we they are probably lucky that Dallas had some Red Zone issues against the bend, don't break game plan.
But, again, the offense is pathetic, possibly worse than last year. Mac is not going to get them anywhere. The sooner they realize that the better.
Agreed. This is another lost year. They may realize it today, but not much they can do about it now.
All of this.1. Mac. He’s terrible
2. OL. Untalented, slow, and dumb
3. Receivers. See above
4. Belichick for putting this offensive roster together.
This whole offense needs to rebuilt from the ground up, and I’m not sure that a 72 year old defensive minded head coach is the right guy to do it in 2024 and beyond.
Yup. Not all that much to add. It's like they built an offense in which the QB is brought down by the OL and receivers, the receivers are brought down by the QB and OL and the OL is brought down by the QB and the receivers.1. Mac. He’s terrible

Yes, except has to be Bill at 1. Still have the season to get o. track but without Brady it seems like the emperor may not have clothes.1. Mac. He’s terrible

Can we please dispense with this? Half the years or more the Pats won with Brady the defense was the better unit. It was a group effort, please let’s not be ridiculous and denigrate Bill’s role in the incredible run we all experienced. Saying someone new should be brought in at this point is one thing, but let’s not go here.Yes, except has to be Bill at 1. If that ball is thrown hard on a line when the WR breaks it's an easy completion and maybe more. The DB undercut it because he had no faith in Mac's arm, and Mac sitting in a perfect pocket threw a fadeaway floater way short and behind the WR. There are plays where the WRs or playcalling are bad. That wasn't one of them, they got Juju fairly open, that one is all on Mac. View: https://twitter.com/NFLRT/status/1708607075624923540I really believe that we overemphasize individual talent and execution; sucking at this level takes a real team effort.
I think the second INT was the epitome of things: Every single aspect of it was bad. Like, the bunch routes were poorly run and neither disguised the routes nor created interference. The defenders didn’t fear the receivers and could position themselves accordingly. The guy who picked it clearly diagnosed what was happening and sat on the pass right off the player so he could jump in front and grab the softly thrown ball that Mac delivered not realizing that the receiver wasn’t open, but rather defender was waiting on it.
That is failure at every possible level from coaching to athletic talent across decision making and execution. Every part of it was bad.
I listened to a Freakonomics episode about co-CEOs. Maybe BB was the defensive HC and Brady was the offensive HC. Clearly Boob, McDummy, and Chucky Weis were carried by Tommy. Can we please dispense with this? Half the years or more the Pats won with Brady the defense was the better unit. That’s what I mean. The DB did what he did because he knew he could and you can watch him watch it all unfold. Hell, I watched him watch it in real time, and that’s bad because I don’t have a great eye in real time.If that ball is thrown hard on a line when the WR breaks it's an easy completion and maybe more. Weis was excellent imo, and I think Brady learned a lot from him. He’s my choice for best Pats OC ever. McDaniels is up for debate, but probably a good OC made into a borderline great one by Brady. BoB…yeah I dunno.I listened to a Freakonomics episode about co-CEOs. Maybe BB was the defensive HC and Brady was the offensive HC. Clearly Boob, McDummy, and Chucky Weis were carried by Tommy.
I don't entirely agree with your opinon of Mac, but I do like the cut of your jib.Mac is a garbage ass quarterback and anyone defending him should be subjected to scaphism.
i just felt in the moment I needed to hit all three. I liked Charlie with the Jets. Tuna, Charlie, BB and a torn Achilles gets you 8-8.Weis was excellent imo, and I think Brady learned a lot from him. The Patriots under Brady only had two seasons in which they finished with a better rank in defensive DVOA than offensive DVOA. 2003 and 2019.Can we please dispense with this? I also believe with a top 8-12 QB, this team would have started 3-0. The roster outside the QB position is not that bad tbh. It’s in the averageish range and they are playing the toughest schedule in the league.
Multiple coaches and institutions. Some work with AI and motion capturing. It’s really fucking cool. It's actually stunning that in Mac Year III his already iffy mechanics have gotten worse. Like, how hasn't notorious hard ass Bill O'Brien actually murdered Mac Jones after all the back foot noodle balls he's thrown? Aren't there famous QB schools/programs that people actually attend to improve their skills in the off-season?
I was thinking this too. It was natural to think he would get better after year one as he improved mechanics, footwork, and got NFL-quality strength training, nutrition, etc (though I expect that stuff is pretty good at Alabama). Since he was pretty good at commanding an offense and reading defenses etc., improving his weaknesses by getting some more zip on throws and making sure his feet were set would make a big difference. None of that has happened. It's actually stunning that in Mac Year III his already iffy mechanics have gotten worse.
