If this Durant trade happens first, does Kyrie still go to the Mavs?
DFS and Dinwiddie are alright but still don't seem like particularly valuable pieces for a rebuilding team.
Have to assume they would have gone simply for the most draft capital.
They don't really have much use for their own pick for a while...so maybe? Where there's an explanation, it's probably a guesstimation.
2023
* Own 1st (Rockets have swap rights with Nets, Nets then have swap rights with 76ers, so not 100% guaranteed...but a pretty sure thing)
* Suns 1st
* 76ers 2nd (least favorable of their own, Hawks, or 76ers 2nd)
2024
* No picks (Rockets have their 1st, Pacers have their 2nd)
2025
* 1st (complicated swap involving the Rockets getting to swap with the Thunder, and then swap the worst of those 2 picks with the Nets, unless the Thunder pick doesn't convey, but regardless they are picking behind the Rockets that year)
* Suns 1st
* Heat 2nd (unless it's top 37, then it goes to the Pacers)
2026
* Nets 2nd (Rockets have their 1st)
2027
* 1st (Rockets have swap rights)
* Suns 1st
* Mavs 2nd
2028
* 1st (swap rights with Suns)
* Own 2nd
2029
* Own 1st
* Mavs 1st
* Suns 1st
* Own 2nd
* Mavs 2nd
So basically they don't control their own 1st until 2028, & don't have their own 2nd until 2026.
