Harrison was 2.1 WAR in 2021 and 1.6 this year. Cotillo thought he had some info, reported it, and then retracted it when he heard otherwise. I don't see the issue.
It's just funny to me. Almost everyone should be "on their radar". It's not like he reported they offered him a certain contract or anything. Doesn't really seem retraction-worthy.

I was just listening to the Baseball Prospectus Mets Prospects podcast and their expert was asked what are the chances of Baty (#2) and Francisco Alvarez (#1 prospect) still being on the Mets come the trade deadline. He said 65%.

I would make your best offer to Devers and if he says no, try somehow to get Alvarez and Baty. Maybe add in Verdugo? The bottom of their lineup could be better -- Canha-Vogie-Eduardo Escobar-Catcher (Nido, McCann). Maybe take McCann's terrible contract.

Alvarez in Fenway would be fun to watch.

Unfortunately, Alvarez has twice the trade value Devers has per BTV, and that seems right to me. But I agree it would be amazing if we could pull it off.

FWIW, BTV thinks Alvarez, Baty and McCann for Devers, Verdugo, and Whitlock is fair. Alvarez is one of the most valuable players in the sport.

I can imagine BTV's formula being more accurate for this past season, but am curious if the market correction is going to blow the doors off of prospect value. It wouldn't surprise me if rentals couldn't get any 50 FV guys now. I don't think Devers has enough trade value at this point for a blue chipper. Certainly not anything close to Mookie either.

Mercifully AJ Preller can't set the trade market anymore. Though he'd be a wonderful trade partner in the future.

Was just mentioned on T&R that the Sox scheduled a press conference at 4pm. Haven’t said why. I’m guessing it’s nothing big, but this is the rumors thread.

I believe in another thread they mentioned this was to introduce Yoshida.

If so, we should expect another round of hand wringing columns and coverage — every question will presumably be about the team’s future plans.

Will need another corresponding move to make room on the 40-man

If Devers has to be traded, the Mets clearly look like the best option. And the NY offer must start with Alvarez. Baty would be a great get, and the Mets might be willing to throw in Carrasco to move his contract.

Why would we want two catchers? This is in no way a fair trade from Boston's standpoint.

Alvarez is the #1 prospect in the sport according to MLB and all the other sites have him at least as top 10. And that takes into account that not everyone is sold on his ability to stick at catcher. The bat is that good

Taking back McCann is just salary relief for the Mets to go after another FA. But yeah I don’t like that deal if you’re throwing in Whitlock too.

"We are going to have commercial breaks between each batter to pay for these ridiculous contracts. However, we will not sacrifice efforts to speed up the game...we'll just have 2 strikes and 3 balls per batter, and only 2 outs per inning in odd numbered innings. No one will notice."

When the most Heyman can muster is "appear to be seriously considering," you know that he is struggling to find any defensible basis for his "report."

Swanson is in very good shape physically, or like he'll make lots of $$$ so he'll be in good shape financially?

Sox are not actually in on Dansby Swanson, but they are in talks with Ben Swanson, a fictional player who I drafted in an online OOTP league as GM of the Cubs. He is a very good defensive third baseman and was a solid #2 hitter for a while with good contact and gap power skills, but is currently floundering in San Francisco in the year of our lord 2032, after being shipped out by the guy who took over as GM of the Cubs when I moved on to an expansion team.

I, for one, am excited about this news.

Ron Swanson to start a bacon-on-a-stick stand at Fenway would be exciting.

Signing Swanson perfectly aligns with the mixed message method of the front office. Following the Red Sox is like dating.
