I suspect this might be true but I don't want to think about that.Or a lot of players agree with Kyrie.
Anyone remember Stephen Jackson favorably quoting Hitler last year and then doubling down when he got criticized for it?

I assumed he was brought up by a Jewish parent and a Muslim parent and experienced both religions. How can you be half of a religion? Wouldn't it be he's Jewish AND Muslim?
Ha! Good catch; I didn’t even notice that. How can you be half of a religion?
Um…Wouldn't it be he's Jewish AND Muslim?
This is good. It’s called an Abrahalf
Oh wow. I wonder how they got the seats…
It’s New York; I’d be shocked if the media didn’t continue to push. Nothing sells papers like a team full of stars self imploding. As for the media continuing to press him, I'm skeptical. It probably has another news cycle or two left, but if he somehow does let it die, they'll get bored and move on to the next thing.
Deletion without apology or acknowledgement is simply cowardice.fwiw...he's deleted the tweet.

cue the confetti! (not to give him any credit -- at all -- but given how self-righteous he is, I am slightly surprised.)
The Kyrie Kliff is looking more and more real by the day.Kyrie's line tonight (2-12/0-6) is a shonda.
I would think Udoka would set some firm boundaries with him early on. Kyrie needs to either focus on basketball, respect that Udoka - not Kyrie - is the coach, or he needs to leave the team. It needs to be very clear that he's pissed away his leverage. If he can't see that then they should show him the door. The Kyrie Kliff is looking more and more real by the day.
He was averaging 30 ppg this year before today, and even since the twitter post he had been really good. The Kyrie Kliff is looking more and more real by the day.
I guess it's true that POINTZ matter above all else.He was averaging 30 ppg this year before today, and even since the twitter post he had been really good.
I was gonna say, 30-5-5 on a TS% of .593 isn't too shabby. However his advanced numbers have definitely dipped in a very small sample (his WS/48 and BPM are either going to be the worst or 2nd worst of his career). He was averaging 30 ppg this year before today, and even since the twitter post he had been really good.
Yeah but they're still very good, just not as good as they were. The nets aren't 2-6 because of him.I was gonna say, 30-5-5 on a TS% of .593 isn't too shabby. Kyrie undermined the coach from the day they hired him, and the result has been a chronically underachieving, undisciplined team.Yeah but they're still very good, just not as good as they were. The nets aren't 2-6 because of him.
A shonda in the streets, a Donda in the tweets.Kyrie's line tonight (2-12/0-6) is a shonda.
Wow is this good, hats (yarmulkes) off.A shonda in the streets, a Donda in the tweets.
The TNT crew expressed great disappoinemt disappointment in this tonight. Among other things, said it’s a players’ league and the players have been very effective in their criticism of Silver when he’s stepped in it, of owners when they’ve stepped, but now that it’s a player—“one of their own—they’re quiet and it’s really disappointing to see.The disappointing thing for me is the silence of the players.
If I am the Nets I just let him keep doing interviews and making it worse for himself. Maybe he can get suspended and they save some money.
The result was also the best offense of all time the year after they hired him and a team that likely wins a title if not for 2 major playoff injuries and KD's toe being an inch too long. Thinking that there's any way they win more games by cutting him is ridiculous.Kyrie undermined the coach from the day they hired him, and the result has been a chronically underachieving, undisciplined team.
How do you know his impact on team culture? The team let HIM be the one on the mic opening night to address the fans and the Griner situation.Kyrie undermined the coach from the day they hired him, and the result has been a chronically underachieving, undisciplined team.
As usual, it’s not Kyrie’s stats that are the problem; it’s his effect on the team culture. Udoka is a good coach who could make this team a winner if he can reign in the nonsense. That nonsense starts with Kyrie, whose first public comments on the Nash hiring were that he didn’t really see the Nets “having a 'head’ coach. KD could be a head coach, I could be a head coach [some days].”
And that comment wasn’t as much prescient as it was indicative of the problem that would undermine Nash’s tenure. That attitude is what needs changing in Brooklyn, and that starts with Kyrie unlearning the idea that he doesn’t need a coach. In fact if any NBA star or any NBA team has ever needed good coaching it’s Kyrie and this Nets team. If they can accept that they could be great, but that acceptance needs to start with Kyrie, and if he’s not on board with that they will win more games by cutting him.
According to the line of thinking that Kyrie promotes, when you control the media and banking, it’s easy to get courtside seats. Kudos to those fans for getting right in his face for his antisemitism. Hopefully someone will do that every gameHa! Good catch; I didn’t even notice that.
Um…
This is good.
Oh wow. I wonder how they got the seats…
Oh wait—It’s The Nets.
Exactly. Well done.A shonda in the streets, a Donda in the tweets.
There is obviously no way to know exactly his effect on the team culture and team culture’s effect on winning, but Kyrie’s public statements suggest he had no respect for Nash, and I’m guessing his private conversations weren’t better. The end result is a team who has appeared increasingly undisciplined and chaotic. Udoka’s primary goal will be to address that issue, and as their current record shows, a Nets team that doesn’t improve in that regard is not a good team. The result was also the best offense of all time the year after they hired him and a team that likely wins a title if not for 2 major playoff injuries and KD's toe being an inch too long. Thinking that there's any way they win more games by cutting him is ridiculous.
I can't read it because I'm not a subscriber, but here's a tweet:
I read the article. Smart does not come off bad in it. A lot of it is what it is kind of stuff.
Unless it manifests itself in some negative way -- which I dont think will happen -- I dont see it as much of a problem that they still like the guy.
This is why twitter should be blown to the moon. The whole Globe story is a bit more nuanced than that.I can't read it because I'm not a subscriber, but here's a tweet:
So who is he disappointed in? If Ime isn't on that list, he needs to reflect a bit.
Yeah. And everyone here is essentially saying the same thing - "It doesn't make sense".I read the article. Smart does not come off bad in it. A lot of it is what it is kind of stuff.
It makes sense because it appears what he did here is so bad that the Celtics don't care about him going to the Nets. They just want to be rid of him. To me, the Nets come off horribly here. If I were a female Nets employee, I'd be pissed off today.Yeah. And everyone here is essentially saying the same thing - "It doesn't make sense".
What I mean is him being able to get a job so quickly doesn't make sense, not how the Celtics feel about it. That seems to be the sentiment here, no?It makes sense because it appears what he did here is so bad that the Celtics don't care about him going to the Nets. They just want to be rid of him. Cellar Door addressed this earlier as well, there are likely a larger number of players who buy into ideas that could fall under the broad category of black supremacist thought than we might think. The (crucially important and extremely complex) intellectual and cultural project of dismantling white supremacy in the US likely filters down through social media and YouTube videos to a kind of moron-tier identity politics for guys like Kyrie, who almost certainly believe things like "Black people can't be racist because white supremacy" and Jews are "white" so it doesn't count or whatever. I wouldn't be surprised if that's why you don't see more guys in the league challenging it, because they believe it as well.I suspect this might be true but I don't want to think about that.
Anyone remember Stephen Jackson favorably quoting Hitler last year and then doubling down when he got criticized for it?
He shouldn't be really getting another job that soon, but apparently the Nets don't care about what he did or the ramifications around it. Pretty sad day for that organization. What I mean is him being able to get a job so quickly doesn't make sense, not how the Celtics feel about it. That seems to be the sentiment here, no?
This is pretty offensive to people that didn't graduate college and came from working-class backgrounds.... I'm not sure we can expect much better from guys who dropped out of college, especially the ones who come from working-class backgrounds...
I think at this point, twitter may end up on Mars. This is why twitter should be blown to the moon. The whole Globe story is a bit more nuanced than that.
No kidding. Who let Dickie Mountbatten in the forum? This is pretty offensive to people that didn't graduate college and came from working-class backgrounds.

I dropped out of high school, so I'm not shitting on anyone when I say that, but I'll take my medicine for phrasing that inarticulately. My apologies if anyone is offended by it. I'm not the type to go back and edit it out. The point I was making is that there's often a correlation between economic status, educational attainment, and social/political/cultural views. No kidding. Who let Dickie Mountbatten in the forum?
It's a terrible post. Racism and antisemitism, and well - stupidity - aren't tied to status and/or education or the lack thereof. Plenty of hateful Ivy League, blue-blood dummies out there. This is pretty offensive to people that didn't graduate college and came from working-class backgrounds.
Tbf, Himmelsbach wrote both the story and the tweet, so he easily could have conveyed more nuance (even through light threading that didn't give away the story). This is why twitter should be blown to the moon. The whole Globe story is a bit more nuanced than that.

It’s great that after 6 years in Boston and NYC, Kyrie finally has the opportunity to talk to some Jewish people.I find it amusing on NBA Countdown that they all seem to believe the Nets when they told them Kyrie is taking these few days away from the media to "educate himself." They brought up groups that would, you know, actually teaching him, but I bet Kyrie is more likely going to find "facts" that support his post
