I liked it a few years ago when Houston rolled out a lineup of Harden-Gordon-Ariza-Mbah a Moute-Tucker against GSW, a bunch of guys between 6'5-6'9" that could switch onto anyone and also shoot. But that was specifically against GS, who killed teams who played traditional bigs because they would always switch them onto Curry and have no place to hide them when Draymond played the 5.
The problem is that the Warriors are not standing in Houston's way. The seven other WC playoff teams (Lakers, Clippers, Nuggets, Jazz, Mavs, Thunder, Memphis, as well as Portland if you wanted to include them) all play basically with a traditional five or a traditionally sized five, and on some of those teams like Lakers, Nuggets, Jazz and Mavs, that center is one of their most important players. Small ball is helpful but I don't know if it is the solution like it could have been against GS.
