I first learned what it meant after seeing Do The Right Thing. Turturro's character uses it in the racist rant montage. I had heard "mooley" before but had no idea where it came from. You people and your True Romance. Eddie Murphy brought light to the term in “Raw” way before that
This is rich:Bad news, folks. Our championships are tainted and we wouldn’t stand a chance against the 70’s Steelers:

Since when were the Patriots and TB "chosen"?I think the Patriots have lost their shine by most football fans. The NFL will have to elect a new "chosen one" sooner than later.
Eggplant /cantaloupe were adlibs, and Tarantino wasn't exactly happy about them.Taking nothing away from the artistic work of Spike Lee or Eddie Murphy (saw Raw live at the Felt Forum wbw) I referenced the brilliant Hopper/Walken "True Romance" scene specifically for Tarantino's use of the word "eggplant", which sparked this side-track in the first place.
Funny because The Chosen One seems to have been Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck (which fell apart quick) by the national media. They've constantly been called the Best QB in the League by the media. Now we have Mahomes. This is rich:
Since when were the Patriots and TB "chosen"?
During Spygate?
Or during Deflategate?
Or during every single other season (since 2003)?
Yeesh... "chosen".
They also seem to completely ignore these whole things called free agency and salary caps. It's like Canadian fans going back to when the Canadians had first rights over people born in their area. Completely different game. It's silly to ACTUALLY argue whether a modern team would beat a team from that long ago. One poster there pointed out the weight difference on the lines. To wit:
NE's 2018 offensive line and key blockers:
LT Brown: 6-8, 380 lbs
LG Thuney: 6-5, 308 lbs
C Andrews: 6-3, 300 lbs
RG Mason: 6-1, 310 lbs
RT Cannon: 6-6, 335 lbs
TE Gronkowski: 6-6, 260 lbs
TE Allen: 6-3, 264 lbs
FB Develin: 6-3, 255 lbs
Pit's 1978 defensive line and linebackers:
LE Greenwood: 6-6, 245 lbs
LT Greene: 6-4, 275 lbs
RT Banaszak: 6-3, 242 lbs
RE White: 6-4, 255 lbs
LB Ham: 6-1, 225 lbs
LB Lambert: 6-4, 220 lbs
LB Toews: 6-3, 220 lbs
I mean, we just saw the Patriots absolutely road grade the Chargers, Chiefs, and Rams. They would have annihilated that Steeler defense on the ground. I mean the Patriots FULLBACK is bigger than anyone in the Steelers' front seven except for Mean Joe Greene. Imagine Dwight White trying to stand up to Brown, while Gronk tosses Toews like a ragdoll, Thuney buries Banaszak, Andrews and Mason maul Greene, and Cannon obliterates Greenwood, leaving Allen and Develin to crush the small linebackers? I mean really, please. The Steel Curtain wouldn't stand a prayer of a chance to hold up against the modern Patriots' offensive line. Maybe they'd shoot some gaps and make a few plays, but over the course of a game...holy crap they'd get killed. It would be like running out a modern defensive front 7 of only linebackers and safeties. Imagine the Rams' offensive line being allowed to go up against a front seven of:
DE Hightower
DT Roberts
DE Van Noy
LB McCourty
LB Chung
LB Harmon
LB Melifonwu
I mean that's basically the equivalent.
Now take that kind of stuff out of it and just live in the world of whatifsports.com, and yeah, maybe that Steelers' team is better. But come on people.
Seriously. Didn't Von Miller call him probably the toughest player in the league or something like that after the 2015 AFCCG?One idiot in that forum said that Brady would get killed by those Steelers because Brady "is a bona fide pussy". I am sitting in a quiet space right now and laughed so hard that five people just looked over at me wondering WTF.
Yep. What explains such "thinking"? Is it just blind hate? Does blind hate and jealousy really alter one's ability to think rationally so much that people say what are clearly objectively untrue and outrageous things? I'm trying to get a handle on the psychology.Seriously. Didn't Von Miller call him probably the toughest player in the league or something like that after the 2015 AFCCG?
I believe that was Demarcus Ware.Seriously. Didn't Von Miller call him probably the toughest player in the league or something like that after the 2015 AFCCG?

Holy shit Steelers fans are stupid. I think my favorite part is when they all agreed that Belichick wouldn't be able to come up with a game plan to stop what Noll wants to do. IDK, but I think Bill Belichick might know a little bit more about football strategy than those fans on a Steelers' message board. He might be able to come up with something they don't.Bad news, folks. Our championships are tainted and we wouldn’t stand a chance against the 70’s Steelers:

Peyton was ABSOLUTELY the chosen one, even though everything about his personality was manufactured and every atrocity of his (sexual abuse in college, getting HGH delivered to his wife while recovering from neck surgeries,) was completely buried and ignored, whereas the league has consistently tried to nitpick and blow up any little slight they can against NE.Funny because The Chosen One seems to have been Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck (which fell apart quick) by the national media. They've constantly been called the Best QB in the League by the media. Now we have Mahomes.
Brady gets a shit ton of respect and in the last couple years is now the GOAT, but there was only a stretch of like 11 years of his career where people like Chris Simms wouldn't put him in the Top 5
Some of those posts...…...holy shit, the mind reels.Bad news, folks. Our championships are tainted and we wouldn’t stand a chance against the 70’s Steelers:

No, no, no, your wrong. Brady wouldn't last five plays if he was a QB in 1970s.Seriously. Didn't Von Miller call him probably the toughest player in the league or something like that after the 2015 AFCCG?
Deluded would also work.....The best post was this one "Stop clinging to something that happened 4+ decades ago.
It was 4+ decades ago..."..see, this guy gets it.
Oh and it's diluted, not dilute...…...….Jesus.
It's as though using "bona fide" makes it less stupid and more true. One idiot in that forum said that Brady would get killed by those Steelers because Brady "is a bona fide pussy". I am sitting in a quiet space right now and laughed so hard that five people just looked over at me wondering WTF.
I had heard that "cantaloupe" was add-libbed by Walken, and it sort of plays that way in the scene. "Eggplant" by Hopper seems scripted as the punchline to end the dialogue.Eggplant /cantaloupe were adlibs, and Tarantino wasn't exactly happy about them.
The title post says it all. The idea of Sixburgh!!!! has meant a huge amount to the psyche of Steelers fans in the last decade. After getting their asses beat by the Patriots consistently in the oughts and being clearly only the second or third most successful AFC team of the period, getting the sixth ring and stepping ahead of the 49ers and Cowboys became a huge point of pride. They might have gotten beaten up by the Patriots whenever it mattered, but in the big picture the franchise was still on top of the pile and that wasn't changing. In particular, there was no way the Patriots were going to upset this overall hierarchy of AFC dominance, as adding three more Super Bowls just wasn't realistic....Bad news, folks. Our championships are tainted and we wouldn’t stand a chance against the 70’s Steelers:

I would, but I’d also wouldn’t be arguing that the ‘57 Celtics could beat the modern Lakers.I suspect more than one Celtic fan will feel the same way, if God-forbid, the MFLakers win a 17th, before the Celts snag 18.

I think this game/season broke a lot of people. There is still plenty of misery to be enjoyed, plenty of salty tears to lick, but to me it just seems muted compared to past years.Fucking pathetic!!
My team sucks and we didn’t even make the playoffs with top 5 talent.
But but but if we had our team from almost 50 years ago we’d kick your teams ass
This hits the nail on the head. Lots of straw-grasping happening. The title post says it all. The idea of Sixburgh!!!! has meant a huge amount to the psyche of Steelers fans in the last decade. Agreed. I was going with fans being very protective and at times over the top about franchise history.I would, but I’d also wouldn’t be arguing that the ‘57 Celtics could beat the modern Lakers.
I think a big part of it this year is because the Pats so thoroughly dominated the Rams in the SB. There's nothing to hold onto, nothing for these folks to grab and say "The Patriots only won because they....." There was no officiating call that changed the outcome, there wasn't a single, defining, play that was screwed up by the Rams, there was no "luck" involved. It was a straight up beat down. There was no last second idiotic decision by Pete Carroll, or the Falcons pissing down their legs in the 2nd half. The reality is that besides the coin flip in the Chiefs game, there really isn't anything out there for these folks to use to diminish this year's title. The Pats simply went into the playoffs, took care of business and steamrolled. At some point, most folks have to just recognize the Pats were the best team in the NFL this year. Period. There are *a few* voices of reason over there:

"You're right, the Steelers are a great franchise. They have as many Super Bowl championships and almost as many AFC championships as Tom Brady, and we know how good he is."This hits the nail on the head. Lots of straw-grasping happening.
A Steelers (sorry, "Stillers") fan FB friend of mine said, "Let's not forget who was first to 6." I replied, "Sure. Let's not forget that the Patriots beat the Steelers on the way to exactly half of their rings, twice in Pittsburgh."
Yeah, but I'd definitely be arguing that their 5 Minnesota don't count (they fucking do NOT count).I would, but I’d also wouldn’t be arguing that the ‘57 Celtics could beat the modern Lakers.
Not the '57 Celtics, but plenty of people would argue that the '86 Celtics could beat the best modern teams, and that was more than 30 years ago.I would, but I’d also wouldn’t be arguing that the ‘57 Celtics could beat the modern Lakers.
I totally agree with this. Idiots like Francesa (what's amazing is that I love listening to him even though he's an idiot.....why is that???) who say that SB LII hurt Brady's legacy (because he lost), despite Brady throwing for 505 yards, 3 td, 0 int, leading the team to 633 total yards and 33 points (should have been 37 without bad kicking) - because they lost, after all, ALSO say that SB LIII hurts Brady's legacy because it was the defense that carried him, even though they won. I mean, we're to the point where the only way Brady's detractors will acknowledge his greatness is if:And side tangent... but IMO games like the 2015 AFCCG and LII only enhance Brady's legacy at this point.
Poor Jets fans, they sound like Red Sox fans pre 2004 regarding the Yankees and Bruins fans in the mid to late 1970's regarding Montreal.Meanwhile over at TGG it's just hopelessness and self pity:

and the Rev-esque reply:Bellicheat keeps poking the bear..that means we’re still in his head.
Isn't our stadium in Sixboro Sixachusetts, home of the Six England Patriots? The title post says it all. Dee Ford. They are holding onto that. The reality is that besides the coin flip in the Chiefs game, there really isn't anything out there for these folks to use to diminish this year's title.
The Jets are BB's kryptonite? The Pats with BB at the helm and TB at QB are 28-8 lifetime against the Jets (including playoffs). That's a .778 winning percentage.KurtTheJetsFan is my favorite...
Grow a pair Jet fans! Weve beaten bellicheat before we can do it again.
Bellicheat keeps poking the bear..that means we’re still in his head. All it takes is to punch him in the mouth ONCE & hes right back to trading a player like Randy Moss& ditching the deep passing game midseason just like he did.in 2010 after we beat them 28-14.
The jets despite all their warts & faults are Bellicheat kryptonite.Time to regroup & go for the heart.200+ mill in cap space over next 2 seasons..no excuses..
