He is absolutely a top 10 player.
Not even close. Top 10 tough-to-guard-in-isolation does not equal top 10 player. He's average or worse for his position as a rebounder, passer, floor general and defender. To date he has been even a top 25-30 player, let alone top 10, in terms of his overall ability to impact the scoreboard in a positive way for his team (as measured by RPM or any other plus-minus rating). The Cavaliers have been atrocious when he has been asked to carry the team without LeBron.
He has also not yet shown the durability of a franchise player, having missed significant time in every season, including his one year in college.
I mean, he is still only 25, with an elite mix of handles, scoring touch and outside shooting, and some potential upside if he can stay healthy. (Curry, a somewhat similar player, didn't really blow up till age 26). I can see considering him a top 10-15
asset; and can definitely see wanting to sell high on IT for a normal-sized PG who can be part of a sweet Big 3 with Hayward and Horford. But to call him "absolutely a top 10 player" right now, based on his based on his track record to date, is pure silliness, supported by nothing but a bunch of well-chosen ESPN highlights.
