If the Pats get #54 back, this has been a hell of a start to the 2017 season.Dianna RussiniVerified account @diannaESPN 2m2 minutes ago
The Patriots are trying to strike a deal with LB Dont’a Hightower per sources
RB's won't go in the first wave of FA.No word on LGBT? I'd so much rather have him back than Peterson.
Yes -- I think Miguel has Allen in on the 50.3m number.DDB, does that count Dwayne Allen too?
If it doesn't, then call it just under $30 Million including (very roughly) the amount they'll need to sign the draft class?
He has to deny this. Would make Malcolm look really stupid if he thought that the Patriots actually owned the moon.I am not savvy on the negotiation processes, but it seems odd that the two sides have not met to discuss number's.
Per Reiss:
"“The Patriots haven’t approached Malcolm about his contract since last year, and anything that says he keeps asking for the moon is completely false,” Simpson said."

Ravens free agent DL Lawrence Guy is visiting the Patriots today
This dude *seems* like he should be a stud, but he's never put it together. Not sure where he'd fit, especially if the Cooks thing happens.Field YatesVerified account @FieldYates 4m4 minutes ago

The Patriots reportedly have "strong interest" in D.J. Fluker, a 2013 first-round pick. http://nesn.com/?p=698860
No - it's a karmic lock that it's Giants-Pats now with 19-0 on the line. I just don't know if I should find some sort of way to bet that scenario or just invest in a New England-based defibrillator dealer.
The fact that Allen's money is all non-guaranteed makes a huge huge difference. The speculation was Marty was looking for 9 per. His deal seems close enough to the Allen money to be somewhat of a headscratcher, and leads one wonder if there was something else going on.
I don't know details of Marty's new contract, but Allen's contract signed before last year, guaranteed $16mm (of $29mm). As a practical matter he'll probably make about $5M this year. The '18 and '19 non-guaranteed $ total $12.4mm.The fact that Allen's money is all non-guaranteed makes a huge huge difference.
I was talking about the compensatory picks. They are based on the annual value of the contract your free agent player signs with another team. If Marty signs a contract worth around $6.5m, it won't fetch a high compensatory pick. Compensatory picks also net out. As I understand it, look at the free agents you signed and the ones you lost and net it out based on a number of factors but salary is the most significant. So, I was hoping Marty would sign a big deal if he went somewhere else to net out against the big Gilmore signing. Why? Can you explain?
Maybe Justin Hunter just wanted directions to the Friendly's in Swansea? Because I can't imagine why else he'd be dropping by.Field YatesVerified account @FieldYates 4m4 minutes ago

I don't see much need for Amendola at this point but Floyd still intrigues me since our receivers don't have much size. If Hunter is being brought in, Belichick may still be looking for a bigger WR.Maybe Justin Hunter just wanted directions to the Friendly's in Swansea? Because I can't imagine why else he'd be dropping by.
More relevantly, is this the end of Floyd and Amendola?
I think you know the difference between "bigger", which is what I wrote and "tall", which is what you wrote. Try reading a post before being a jackass. It's like you fucking people just post from an echo chamber.
And, as much as we all love him and as great as he was this year, he has some history of not being a great locker room guy. In a place like GB where they're competing for the NFC title, that must have weighed a bit on their minds as they made an offer.Interesting figures on Marty. But have to remember Allen is 3 years younger (or
is it 2)?
Maybe that's the number his agent brought to the Pats, so the Pats balked and grabbed Allen. Then the market never materialized the way he thought it would. The speculation was Marty was looking for 9 per. His deal seems close enough to the Allen money to be somewhat of a headscratcher, and leads one wonder if there was something else going on.
Not being a Patriot, it's not like I have the faintest clue... but to clarify "something going on" could well reflect something other than fit in the locker room. The speculation was Marty was looking for 9 per. His deal seems close enough to the Allen money to be somewhat of a headscratcher, and leads one wonder if there was something else going on.
You were wrong, called on it, and now are resorting to personal attacks. Ignored.
What WRs are Gronk-like in mass? Certainly not Malcolm which was one of Quint's examples as a "taller" WR (which wasn't even the language I used). But I'm not interested in a flame war, as I don't feel the need to personally attack people I disagree with.I don't think he was wrong because you aren't talking about someone who is Gronk like in mass, correct? It's pretty obvious that BB doesn't shop for WR who are 6'4" because, aside from Moss, the Pats really haven't sought those guys. It's clear they look for pure route runners, very good possession/hands guys irrespective of height. And really, acquiring Moss for a 4th was a no brainer.
There is no indication BB is looking for a "bigger" WR. Just because Hunter was here doesn't mean shit. Hell, he just traded for a 5'10" guy. Is he "bigger"?
