I'm pretty sure I could easily match up the prediction to the person; particularly the Bomani Jones one.
What network is carrying it anyway?Whats the fucking point in having the awards ceremony at 5PM if we are going to know all the winners by then?
Source for all these reports? All reports out of Houston are that Pats fans are everywhere and there are no Atlanta fans to be seen.
I think $3-4K/ticket is too far out of reach for much of the southeastern US. The cost of living is a lot less and so are salaries. All reports out of Houston are that Pats fans are everywhere and there are no Atlanta fans to be seen. Should be as close to a home game as you can get for a Super Bowl for the Pats.
Twitter and listening to the 98.5 today during their broadcast. Supposedly a Falcons fan rally was cancelled because there weren't enough fans who showed up. I'll try to find the tweet.Source for all these reports?
I have no media source but I've heard this from my nephew and two other friends who are there. 10:1 ratio, roughly. I think, however, that there will be a fair amount of "neutrals" from Texas and other places who will end up rooting for Atlanta.Source for all these reports?
Patriots fans have traveled well for this one; the ratio of Pats fans to Falcons fans here is conservatively 5-1, and pretty much the opposite of two years ago in Arizona, when the Seahawks’ goofy No. 12 jerseys outnumbered the Tom Brady jerseys by a good number. If the roof is closed at NRG Stadium, it’s going to feel more like a home game than a Patriots home game does.
Yup. I have a friend in the Boston media who said the same thing. And family is there too. Sounds like Pats fans are the definite majority.I have no media source but I've heard this from my nephew and two other friends who are there. 10:1 ratio, roughly. I think, however, that there will be a fair amount of "neutrals" from Texas and other places who will end up rooting for Atlanta.
The problem with this argument is the assumption that enough people in Georgia give that many shits about the Atlanta Falcons. If the Georgia Bulldogs were playing in the Super Bowl then you would be correct. But the Georgia Bulldogs are not playing in the Super Bowl. It's the Atlanta Falcons. As such, most Georgians are just along for the ride and are happy to be a part of it.I find all of this chatter about the Pats-heavy crowd encouraging but not convincing. Atlanta is too easy a drive. leave Sat afternoon, spend the night in some hotel on I-10, show up by noon tomorrow. Easy to do.
For you it does, maybe. I have two kids and you've seen my planned routine.Ha. Wasn't meant that way but I remember being the exact same way on Super Bowl Sunday. How life changes.
It takes 12 hours to drive beyond the Atlanta city limitsIt's a 12 hour drive or a sub $100 2 hour flight. Falcon fans don't even have to show up yet.
For you it does, maybe. I have two kids and you've seen my planned routine.
I woke up from a dead sleep and started thinking about this game. Now it's 230 and I can't sleep.
Maybe they can make it back next year and we can do this thing right. All of a sudden people want to come over. Let's do this!
Yeah, but--Because you were gonna show up 2 hours early.
I love waking up really early on Super Bowl Sunday. Love it. So good.Bonfire, grill, chili, beer, kegs, liquor, cards...this is not enough to preoccupy me tomorrow.
Come sooner, game.
I remember another game where one team let the other team run all over them because who gives a shit and it took that other team forever to figure out that was playing into the one team's hands.Stop the big plays and make them beat you in the red zone, that's what they do, right? Against the Eagles Jones went 10/135 with a long of 29 yards and the Falcons lost 24-15. He went 4/66, 7/139, 9/174, 7/113 in their other losses, but of course the Falcons scored a lot more than 15 points in each of those games.
But if he goes 12/300 again I predict things don't go well for the Patriots (although I once saw some random guy put up 63 in an NBA playoff game and his team still lost).
So what you're saying is that you have a wife and kids, a family full of people who care about each other?Better than my plan. Kid with bronchitis, wife with walking pneumonia and basically trying to get through the day in order to hopefully have everyone settled by 6:40. I'd kill for a bonfire, grill and booze right now.
I have no media source but I've heard this from my nephew and two other friends who are there. 10:1 ratio, roughly. I think, however, that there will be a fair amount of "neutrals" from Texas and other places who will end up rooting for Atlanta.
Keep up the good work.Maybe they can make it back next year and we can do this thing right.
I hope Tommy's taking care of himself...
Yeah, but--
I love waking up really early on Super Bowl Sunday. Love it. So good.
Now I need to figure out how to murder this fucking day...

The thing with ATL pro sports teams is that most of the "natives" rooting for them don't actually live in ATL. Fans from AL, TN, GA, and FL can all get to Houston fairly easily by air or car, with some cousin to crash with on short notice. Let's be clear--it's not just play or not play; it's the "how effective" part that matters.Alex Mack expected to play but Falcons arent sure how long or effective according to Schefter.
Gronk played in the 2012 Super Bowl. He was not effective. This is hopefully a similar case.Let's be clear--it's not just play or not play; it's the "how effective" part that matters.
That short passing game to backs in the flat that everyone is worried about? Mack's ability to pull matters for that.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile.Got this very positive feeling about an impending Pats blowout when I awoke this AM
Not my usual thoughts - now I'm back trying to be calm via late 79 Dead.
Didn't Mack have the same injury during the NFCCG? No obvious fall off in that one. Or do I have my facts a la Marshall Faulk?Backup C Ben Garland only played 42 offensive snaps this whole year. They likely want Mack out there just for his experience and identifying protections but if he is seriously hobbled it's going to hurt them a lot, especially in the run game. It's hard to make that run scheme work with an immobile center.
And dealing with Branch/Brown is hard enough with 2 healthy fibulas. I like this development.Backup C Ben Garland only played 42 offensive snaps this whole year. They likely want Mack out there just for his experience and identifying protections but if he is seriously hobbled it's going to hurt them a lot, especially in the run game. It's hard to make that run scheme work with an immobile center.
I expect we will see a Hightower blitz up the middle very early to test him.Alex Mack expected to play but Falcons arent sure how long or effective according to Schefter.
He hurt it in the NFC Championship Game. So it's new, probably played two weeks ago on adrenaline and it also probably got worse as he continued to play, leading to the fracture.Didn't Mack have the same injury during the NFCCG? No obvious fall off in that one. Or do I have my facts a la Marshall Faulk?
Yup, he hurt it sometime during the game. Hard to know much to read into his immediate performance. It could mean it was relatively minor. He could have been just so jacked up on adrenaline that it was easier to play through. I'm not a doctor but I can see a wide range of possibilities today, from Mack being nearly normal to barely able to get on the field.Didn't Mack have the same injury during the NFCCG? No obvious fall off in that one. Or do I have my facts a la Marshall Faulk?
