It would probably be the Luis Alexander Basabe. Both rated B- prospects by Sickels.

Nimmo ranked a 50FV by Fangraphs but he seems to have lost a little luster after not doing much in a SSS for the Mets. Basabe is obviously way younger and farther away so the Reds would probably prefer Nimmo because of proximity. Maybe a Sam Travis would be a closer valuation (although a very different player, esp. when you have Joey Votto until he's 47).

Here
To those that want to deal Moncada:

Pete
How many teams would pay $62M for Moncada if they could have a do-over?
Dave Cameron
All of the ones with the cashflow available.
He's clearly worth more than that now.
Why don't we ask how many GMs would sign Chris Sale to his current contract. If there was an offer of Sale for Moncada, the Sox would be crazy not to take that. The White Sox would probably want Benintendi, too, though, so forget that.

Who wants to trade Moncada? Seems more like he's the only one nobody wants to trade.
I've read several posts on here that would gladly deal Moncada in a Sale deal. I think they are crazy for the sole reason that Sale's arm is showing signs of diminishing this season and coincidentally, this is the first time the ChiSox have been willing to deal him (albeit with a high price tag).

Bickford is their top pitching prospect and I really like Susac as a starting C. Big dude who had a hurt wrist this year but was showing signs of being a good backstop with maybe 18-20 HR pop. And didn't someone say that Will Smith has been losing velo? (maybe I read that in the Cameron chat)

Ditto here. The only way to ruin the future of this team is to deal away our top prospects for a guy who turns out to not contribute much more than we were already getting. Obviously Sale's track record is incredible, but there is this bit of extra risk (beyond the usual "anything can happen and everyone eventually fades") that makes a high-stakes deal for him too much for me.

Young isn't an everyday guy. I don't want to see Holt starting even half the games. Holt should be used as a utility guy, not as a starter or as a platoon guy.
But what you want and what's reasonable are not necessarily coterminous. Holt can certainly play 7 or 8 out of 10 games, 5 or 6 of which are in the OF, 2 or 3 in the IF. They don't need more "utility" than that, unless you want them to dump Hill, who needs some PT, too. And none of that accounts for Benintendi, who could certainly get called up to help fill in LF.

I mean, Ziegler has been the best "buy" trade so far in 2016 and it's probably not particularly close.

These sells teams are getting potential difference makers for guys on short term control and who aren't particularly that good.

Dombrowski deserves a lot of credit for moving quickly pre-deadline on both Pomeranz and Ziegler.
Yeah these deals look pretty damned good at the moment. I know people are annoyed by 3 starts of Pomeranz, but I'm pretty sure everyone is gonna be happy about that deal when we look back on the entirety of it in 3 years. He's not a rental.

I know you've been banging this drum for like a week now, but maybe it's time to come to grips with the fact that Clay doesn't have anywhere near the trade value you apparently think he does.
They could pick up some salary to get a better player. You're telling me that he has less value than Andrew Cashner? Or Will Smith? He has a track record and while he hasn't been that good over the last 12 months or so he still has value.

Giants got fleeeeeeeced. The Susac acquisition might suggest Lucroy is moving.
Bickford was the main cost. Giants have no need for Susac with Posey being backed up by Brown. He is also older at 26 and while catchers take longer to develop, you wonder if his 2014 was his ceiling.

For the love of God yes, I'm not sure what you're not getting. He;s relegated to mop up duty. And there was talk that they shopped him to the Marlins and the Marlins preferred Cashner. So I don't understand what you're not getting, other than just being a homer.

Beltran deal down to Indians and Rangers. Whew!

Source: Carlos Beltran sweepstakes down to Indians and Rangers. Likelihood of a trade high.

Will Smith is negligibly better than Abad. He's a lefty who gets righties out but doesn't get lefties out.
Though guys who throw left and bat right are rare. Rickey Henderson rare. Maybe he's not sure which way he bats?

I didn't think DD would be the guy to be subtle with his deals, but he's doing fabulously so far.

Susac had wrist surgery in Sept 15 and had wrist issues again this season. Seems like sometimes it takes more than a year to get over some of that. You could be right that he may have peaked, but I think it was a smart buy low addition with Bickford as the centerpiece. Brewers don't really need an RP anyway with where they are.
