Let's not be making NBA comparisons just yet. These calls have gone against Detroit but for the most part the problem with the officiating in the NFL is that it isn't remotely consistent.

I think the problem is that HUGE game swings happen on the basis of judgement calls. 
 
When people can often reasonably disagree on whether a call is DPI, OPI, or no foul, and when those calls can be 20-50 yard swings amounting to 2-4 points on average -- that's putting the game in the hands of the officials.  Never mind holding calls.
