Here
Clock manager screwed Detroit out of some time on that turnover. The clock should have stopped.

Let's not be making NBA comparisons just yet. These calls have gone against Detroit but for the most part the problem with the officiating in the NFL is that it isn't remotely consistent.

Edit: And this:

I think the problem is that HUGE game swings happen on the basis of judgement calls.

When people can often reasonably disagree on whether a call is DPI, OPI, or no foul, and when those calls can be 20-50 yard swings amounting to 2-4 points on average -- that's putting the game in the hands of the officials.  Never mind holding calls.

Maybe he was going for irony?

Was it really confusing how saying that if Dallas recovers (and keeps) the ball the worst that likely happens (outside major fuck up) for them is OT?

No.  Just insanely unlikely. Like, under 5%

I like the timeout call here. Most coaches try to hurry up.

hence why there should be a challenge permitted for those situations even if just in the playoffs

Yes. That was my point. The worst case for them was OT outside of something crazy.

You have one drive to save your season, and Theo Riddick is your number one option?

But really, I have no idea how Lett is as a coach.
Human beings are hard-wired to learn from their mistakes, which makes Leon Lett some kind of football Einstein.
