Yeah, last night was one of the better games I’ve seen Mahomes play. The stats invite a big shrug, sure, and they were disappointing in the red zone, but he managed the game exactly as he needed to. At no point did I think Miami could win that game, and that has as much to do with Mahomes’ savvy/mastery of how that game needed to be played as it does the inept Miami offense.

Yeah, it was the type of game Brady won all the time and people would take the box score and say he wasn't special. Know the situation and just do what you have to win it.

Watching the broadcast this am on NFLN and the tongue bath given to Steve Spagnuolo I was reminded of this:
So, AMH 03 dropped by last night and said she wasn’t going to watch it on Peacock, but that NFLN was repeating it. Turned out to be at 9 o’clock last night my time (California).). Perfect. At 9:05 my wife says are you’re going watch the game you recorded. Yeah. So, I turned it on and I’m blocking the bottom of the screen because I know they have a crawl that’s real time that will say who won. Then, I’m hearing a guy saying “Miami won’t be competing any more in this year playoffs.” As if that wasn’t enough, then I see KC 26 Miami 7 in one inch letters in the middle of the screen! They never do that (tell you what happened before they start a recording of a game). What a cluster#%€¥ of an NFL day: two not very competitive games, Peacock,
and NFL Network’s repeat telecast handling.

He's not close to the processor Brady and Manning were, in terms of pure arm talent I don't think he's in Rodgers and Allen's league, but the whole package is top 3 all time level already because he's so gifted inside the pocket and has crazy body control.
Not close? Come on. He's plenty close. And he's got the arm talent, too.

What Mahomes is doing this year is what Brady used to do when he had no help. Dragging a bunch of WR4s to division titles and playoff wins. The defense is helping, obviously, but KC kept moving the ball last night, every drive and wore down Miami.

Mahomes is great but let’s see what he does when he plays his first road playoff game away from Arrowhead with these WRs. Last nights game was the easiest pick ever once the weather report was announced. Miami had no chance.

Rice is young, but he looks like a WR2 already, with definite WR1 potential. His emergence has been huge for KC and Mahomes.

Don’t disagree with Chatham but how easy is it to move an entire NFL operation on short notice? Like when they found out they were going to KC last Sunday night, should they have made arraignments to travel on Wednesday to KC?

As a processor? He's not Peyton Manning, man. I'm not saying he's not close to being as good a player in general, as I explained.

Only in SoSH can you talk about how impressed you were with a performance and call a player top 3 all time at his position at age like, 28, and have someone take it as disrespectful to the guy.

if you’re going to do a bit like this I suggest making it more provocative like Bill Belichick is almost as good as Jeff Fisher without Tom Brady

You said he wasn't close. He's close. He isn't as good but he sure is close. Mac Jones isn't close.

You also said he doesn't have the arm talent of Josh Allen. But he does. He can sling it.

Patrick Mahomes is great at everything. He's great at processing, he's great at avoiding the rush, he's great at getting balls into tight windows, he's great at firing missiles down the field, he's great at scrambling, he's great at throwing off platform, he's great at everything. He is up there with the best of all time in everything, too.

It’s a given that the Buff Pitt winner will play next Sunday (Buff v KC or Pitt v Balt) and the TBB Phi winner in their respective NFC divisional game as well on Sunday, right?

2 games on 1/21 and 2 on 1/20, right?

The league did the right thing moving the game, but selfishly it sucks having to wait around until 4:30 on back to back days. It's blustery out, I'm done running Sunday morning errands, I'm ready to crack a bev and watch football all day.

Agree 100%. Every aspect of being a QB in this league, every single one, Mahomes is great at. He may not be the GOAT with accuracy, but he’s incredibly accurate. He may not be the GOAT processor, but he’s great at it. He may not have the GOAT arm, but he’s got a helluva arm. Etc.

Put it all together and he’s clearly one of the best players ever at the QB position.

Even in CA with 1:30 starts I'm having trouble filling up the time both yesterday and today. They have f'd up a perfectly good traditional schedule decades long.

I’m mostly with Tim here and he’s a good one, but: (1) They didn’t close the theaters in London during the bombings. The show must go on. A few flurries. Bahh. (2) I don’t say “bev.”
I long for the days when society faced adversity and achieved.

Now, society punts. Like Belichick on 4th down.

I will just make chicken salad out of chicken shit. What else can we do really?

I plan to use the extra 3 hours to think about my feelings and maybe to see a room movie.

Mahomes had an off year this year. Still completed 67% of his passes and 4200 yards. His receivers also had, by far, the most drops this season. That lowers his numbers considerably.

MVS is responsible for one loss this year and Toney 2. But here we are, with Mahomes winning another playoff game and significantly outplaying the guy on the other side. In brutal conditions.

They don't have a bubble where they could at least crank the AC?

Why do the networks pay 6 guys for the pre game show. Do people actually watch? Feels like they could slash their budget and it would go directly to the bottom line.

What’s the point of any of this in 2024. When the game hits commercial I immediately go on my phone.
then you just missed the lady saying “I didn’t know a little tiny prick could be so powerful”
