Man, that Thibodeau is quite the players' coach!Word is that he's asking to be traded. When your franchise guy tells you he doesn't want to be there you don't have much choice but to move him.

Ed, I agree that they're not moving him unless they receive a godfather offer. They aren't going to trade him for what Celts fans perceive as equal value.Of course they would, but Tatum isn’t being traded unless it’s Anthony Davis on the other end. I don’t know why the Wolves are trading KAT, it doesn’t make much sense unless they get significantly higher value than he’s worth.
Well, last offseason we acquired Kyrie for what I perceive as fair as fuck value. But I bet the Cavs fans don't.Ed, I agree that they're not moving him unless they receive a godfather offer. They aren't going to trade him for what Celts fans perceive as equal value.
That's what most people around the league said about Kyrie last year prior to us fleecing the Cavs. When a player demands a trade his team loses all leverage and the return is minimized. We already know the Wolves are losing any Towns deal should he force himself out.Ed, I agree that they're not moving him unless they receive a godfather offer. You’d think Phoenix would go nuts with an offer if KAT became available. They could offer Ayton, other picks, take on bad salary, etc. That's what most people around the league said about Kyrie last year prior to us fleecing the Cavs. When a player demands a trade his team loses all leverage and the return is minimized. This is what I wanted to get at in the draft thread when I said the Celtics wouldn't/shouldn't try to move up in the draft. Trades to move up generally are priced fairly, or are an overpay for the team moving up. Trades for pissed off stars are almost always won by the team getting the star. This is probably because the team trading the star is constrained by where that guy will re-sign, as well as the fact that contending teams tend to have crappier assets. That's what most people around the league said about Kyrie last year prior to us fleecing the Cavs. When a player demands a trade his team loses all leverage and the return is minimized. At the time of the trade, sentiment was probably 80-20 that the Cavs won. Obviously, that has not borne out, but I wouldn’t say the deal was considered a fleecing by any stretch. That's what most people around the league said about Kyrie last year prior to us fleecing the Cavs. When a player demands a trade his team loses all leverage and the return is minimized. You think KAT wants to go to Phoenix? If not, that deal is dead. This is why the NBA is somewhat broken. The players run the league. You’d think Phoenix would go nuts with an offer if KAT became available. They could offer Ayton, other picks, take on bad salary, etc.
Who's reporting this on Towns?Word is that he's asking to be traded. When your franchise guy tells you he doesn't want to be there you don't have much choice but to move him.
I doubt Phoenix would be his top option but not sure he’d poopoo the idea either. Sounds like he just wants to get the F out of Minnesota. It’s cold as shit there, the coach is a maniac who grinds down players, and you have a couple veteran guys like Butler and Teague who are probably more interested in their next contract than building anything. You think KAT wants to go to Phoenix? I really doesn't matter if it's considered a fleecing at the time. At the end of the day, the Celtics clearly won the trade and did not overpay. If Ainge (or another GM) is confident about a trade for KAT that can happen again. At the time of the trade, sentiment was probably 80-20 that the Cavs won. Obviously, that has not borne out, but I wouldn’t say the deal was considered a fleecing by any stretch.
That's not exactly what he said:Who's reporting this on Towns?
Only thing I've seen on Towns was Windhorst basically just saying he's more likely to be traded than Anthony Davis(not a surprise because Davis is likely untouchable) and there's tension between KAT and Wolves management.
That's not just saying he's just more likely than AD, but that he actually might be traded."I don't think Anthony Davis is going anywhere any time soon," Windhorst said. "But Towns … now that might be a different story."
Even in that quote being taken out of context, it does not say Towns has asked to be traded. That's not exactly what he said:

Yeah, Phoenix could push its chips in on KATman. If I were Minnesota I’d insist on a Towns/Wiggins for Jackson/2018 first rounders/Miami #1/right to swap 2019 firsts package. At least Thibs could start from scratch with better defenders and the ability to add guys that will play for him. You’d think Phoenix would go nuts with an offer if KAT became available. Zach Lowe apparently said on his podcast that KAT and MIN are "not in a good place internally" and people have extrapolated from that.Who's reporting this on Towns?

He didn't even go as far as saying they're shopping him, much less KAT asking to be traded.
One of the talking heads on NBA Sirius Radio ran with the trade demand rumor. Poking around I don't see anything credible except from one of the NBC Sports writers who said this friction isn't new and has been going on for over a year leading to the intensified trade rumors. Fake news? Smoke/Fire?Zach Lowe apparently said on his podcast that KAT and MIN are "not in a good place internally" and people have extrapolated from that.
Sure they would love to but no chance they can outbid the Celtics or Suns. KAT would basically have to force his way to LA for them to win any bidding. The Lakers should be in on KAT too.
Wouldn't this be a sensible Kawhi deal?Zach Lowe apparently said on his podcast that KAT and MIN are "not in a good place internally" and people have extrapolated from that.

For the teams and KAT possibly. But for Kawhi? He forces his way out of SA so he can go play for Thibodeau in Minnesota?Wouldn't this be a sensible Kawhi deal?
Good point. Thibodeau proved this year that he learned nothing from past experience. For the teams and KAT possibly. But for Kawhi? He forces his way out of SA so he can go play for Thibodeau in Minnesota?
