Not even close in slow mo, the ball was moving as his hand comes down, which is not down.soxhop411 said:“@footballzebras: Replay call: @DeanBlandino On the fumble that was reversed the forearm was down before ball came loose. Forearm down before elbow”
The ball can begin to move before he loses possession. Why do you guys keep insisting that any movement is key? It's when he loses control that counts.Ed Hillel said:Not even close in slow mo, the ball was moving as his hand comes down, which is not down.
No, it's not. It's when the ball starts moving if the ball comes out. Mike Carey just confirmed, though not in a very eloquent manner.86spike said:The ball can begin to move before he loses possession. Why do you guys keep insisting that any movement is key? It's when he loses control that counts.
Stopped frame on the play shows the ball still gripped to his side with his full forearm down.
Hillman was getting up to start running again. It was an absurd call.LuckyBen said:This is really becoming unwatchable. Of course people are scared to tackle Hillman, they'll get a flag.

Or Ebola.Ed Hillel said:The only thing that is stopping this Denver team is either injuries or weather.

5 of the first 7 games for Denver are at home, when the weather is ideal in Denver. In other words, as the weather gets bad in Denver later in the season, Peyton will be on the road, not playing in cold and snow. A bad referee call in Denver's favor is SOP.Van Everyman said:Well, that was inevitable as soon as the fumble was overturned.

Right, and when the ball starts moving out of his arm, he's losing possession.86spike said:
Looked like he hit him in the shoulder pads and maybe glanced his helmet. I don't think he's still a "receiver" at that point either. He had possession of the ball for a while, and had started the process of getting up to run.Deathofthebambino said:Yeah, well I have Sanders and Manning.
Not sure why you guys are upset about the Hillman personal foul though. If you lead with your helmet, and hit a guy on the ground in his helmet, you are going to get a personal foul every single time. That was about as straight forward as it gets. Add on the fact that the guy was a receiver, and not yet a "runner" and it's even more straightforward. That was a complete no brainer.
Exactly. AFC Championship was subzero in 2012; last year it was 75 degrees. FWIW, they are predicting a huge snow season for the mountains this year out here. Come on, Old Man Winter!Ed Hillel said:The only thing that is stopping this Denver team is either injuries or weather.
Look at the photo I linked to in my edit above.Ed Hillel said:Right, and when the ball starts moving out of his arm, he's losing possession.
Of course the still shot is going to make it look like he had possession, but once the ball starts moving he's losing possession. That's how the rule has been interpreted since I can remember. Mike Carey just said as much.86spike said:Look at the photo I linked to in my edit above.
He still had possession with his elbow down. It doesn't matter if it had started moving if he still had a grip on it tight to his ribs.
I agree with you but do you think the reply was conclusive enough to overturn the ruling on the field?86spike said:Look at the photo I linked to in my edit above.

Meh, San Diego on short rest is no fun either. And the game is in New England.Norm Siebern said:Anyone else notice that Denver gets a home game on Thursday the week and a half before they play the Patriots? That is probably just a coincidence that Denver gets the mini bye before they play the Patriots.
Yes, but playing that short week at home is a helluva lot more important than the away game ten days later.Ed Hillel said:Meh, San Diego on short rest is no fun either. And the game is in New England.

Well, it's also a Thursday Night Game and Denver is playing at home. And smart. Denver is light years ahead of every other AFC team.
