Why is Atlanta throwing on 2nd down with an 8 point lead on 2nd and goal and just over 4 minutes left to go in the game? Run the ball twice, kick the field goal and you have an 11 point lead with less than 3 minutes left. If you score the TD, great, but if you don't, the field goal is almost as good. That's example 1,041,133 why the Patriots are smart and everyone else is stupid.

And now they don't get in on third down, so they have to kick the field goal, and Seattle will have roughly 40 more seconds than they should have had to score twice.

I guess this is why. TD would have been big. Bigger than the 40 seconds.

I think he played it right. TO at 2:05 and Atlanta almost certainly passes on 3rd down. Now they probably run.

Do you throw it on third down and try to get the 1st, or do you run it, and force Seattle to use their timeout? I say you throw it. If Seattle gets the ball back, I don't think that timeout makes a damn bit of difference, they'll get into field goal range and tie it, if not win it with a TD, with or without the timeout. Atlanta needs to finis this with their offense. Part of me thinks they should go for it on fourth down if they don't get it on 3rd. Their defense was that bad on the last drive.

Doesn't help to use it on the plus side of the two minute warning. No advantage at all. If anything you give them a free chance to pass.
