Brigade
Commanders
Defenders
Presidents
RedHogs
RedWolves
Washington Football Team
Presidents is the only one I like, because it's so awkward and lame it's almost cool.New name proposals just dropped. Yikes.

Red Scare would be better than the other "red" options.I assume the three have to be Redhogs, Redwolves, and WFT right? The rest are such trash.
Or maybe Red Tape, to own the Libs.Red Scare would be better than the other "red" options.
Or if they aren't very good, maybe they should be the Average Reds?
Well, in keeping with RedHogs and RedWolves, wouldn't it be RedAverages?Red Scare would be better than the other "red" options.
Or if they aren't very good, maybe they should be the Average Reds?
Does anyone take offense with St. John's change to Red Storm? Serious question: I have no idea.By using the word "Red" in their name, aren't they kind of preserving some of the racist history of their name? I'd think they would want to start fresh.
To the extent that some percentage of fans opposed to any name change will be placated by that very thing, I dont think the team necessarily sees it as a problem.By using the word "Red" in their name, aren't they kind of preserving some of the racist history of their name? I'd think they would want to start fresh.
They aren't good enough to be the Average Reds. AR is freaking awesome.Or if they aren't very good, maybe they should be the Average Reds?
This is funny enough to keep your suspension down to a few days.Red Scare would be better than the other "red" options.
Or if they aren't very good, maybe they should be the Average Reds?
Other football teams might object to them being called a football team? The Navy and Coast Guard will object to Armada
The Army will object to Brigade
The military, in general, and the Navy and Coast Guard, in particular, will object to Commanders
Half the country at any given time will object to Presidents
PETA will object to RedHogs and RedWolves
Seattle is also a Washington Football Team, so yes.Other football teams might object to them being called a football team?
Has to be those three. I feel like they're just setting up WFT to stick.I assume the three have to be Redhogs, Redwolves, and WFT right? The rest are such trash.
More so than WFT who play in Landover, Maryland.Seattle is also a Washington Football Team, so yes.
Armada would be loved by headline writersArmada is actually pretty cool for a non-s plural. Red Hogs works too. Otherwise, WFT is great.
It’s like naming your team the Titanic.Armada is actually pretty cool for a non-s plural. Red Hogs works too. Otherwise, WFT is great.
I think they should go "Red Brigade."By using the word "Red" in their name, aren't they kind of preserving some of the racist history of their name? I'd think they would want to start fresh.
This is where my mind went, b/c it would infuriate so many people. In true WFT fashion none of them are any good, for many reasons mentioned here.I think they should go "Red Brigade."
I haven’t followed the legal angle closely, so I might be missing something. I would think, though, that they could register stylized versions of the mark now and place the basic word mark (“Washington Football Team”) on the supplemental register, then claim full trademark rights in the word mark in 5 years based on distinctiveness acquired during that time. I don’t know if they’d be willing to live with limited ability to police their brand during that time, but unless someone owns and is using WFT now (or has in the recent past), I don’t see why they couldn’t own that mark eventually.I thought they already announced that they weren't keeping WFT because they wouldn't be able to land the trademark. It gets my vote though.
Wish George Carlin was still around to give us a ruling.Washington Football Club (WFC) sounds a little better than WFT IMO. I know I'm a soccer fan, but I feel like most execs in pro sports still call their franchises clubs. Teams sounds juvenile to me, although I readily admit WFT is a real possibility whereas WFC isn't.
I hope they stick with WFT and let a nickname grow organically.
I think the people of Colombia would not care.or just Columbians as a tribute to our South American friends.
That's a lot of plurals. As a Seattelite, I’d prefer the Washington Districts of Columbians.
or just Columbians as a tribute to our South American friends.
