Not only did Ray Ventrone play for the Patriots, he played for them 67 separate times.

You're confusing him with his brother.  Ross was the one cut and re-signed a billion times.  Ray was a special teamer who didn't yo-yo from the practice squad nearly as much.

MM, I think he meant if Seattle had scored people would have derided BB not taking the TO. If Butler hadnt made the play.

Ditto; that was the first thing that popped into my head as I watched it.

So great to hear the coaches reactions to the interception and the end of the game.

Anyone who was able to keep it together that last ten minutes is a better person than I am.

What an epic, spectacularly well done show, by far the best football related program I've ever seen.

Is Billick sniffing glue?  BB's failure to take a TO prior to the Butler pick could've been the WORST decision in Super Bowl history?

If Butler doesn't make the pick and Seattle scores, there's still 23 seconds on the clock for a kick return plus a play to get into field goal range to tie.  AND they still have the timeout so the whole field is available to them.  There's a reason Billick is in the studio working for NFL Network instead of on a sideline somewhere.

I think you're right, he wasn't discussing HIS analysis of the call, just the media/.fan reaction.

To NFL Network's credit, zero mentions of air pressure of footballs, videotaping signals, or any other hint of cheating.  Good show all around.

From that WaPo article. Did the NYG cheat?!?!? :/

Belichick prepares for everything. During staff meetings, he asks questions about a tactic an opposing coach used a decade prior. During Super Bowl XLVI, in 2012, the Patriots headsets malfunctioned in the second half, leading to harmful miscommunication. And so, in the week leading into last seasons Super Bowl, Belichick stopped practice and shouted for the coaches to drop their headsets.

Yeah, they treated it like the ridiculous media side show to which it should have been relegated. Sadly in real life, it's more than a silly side show.

I think at least part of the reason Billick is in his crappy den talking on NFL network and Belichick is the greatest coach of our lifetimes was illustrated by Billick's explanation of the coverage of the Butler practice play and then the game.  Billick talked about the coaches recognized it, they coached the player up, made the player instinctive, and oh yeah...nice job by the player too.

Earlier, Belichick talked about the same play and said 'it's all about the players between the lines'

Which guy would you want to play for?

Well, in fairness, one comment is by a former coach turned analyst and the other is from a current coach. I'm not saying BB is insincere as he may really believe in what he's saying, but it's possible Billick would not have said the same thing if he were still a coach or in front of his own team - though I suspect Billick might as he seems like a pompous ass!

That was an exceptional documentary. The formation stuff was by far the best in my opinion. I mean it just shows how pathetic Harbaugh really is. I mean it was run by the Titans and at the college level. As soon as he was informed of that he should've rescinded his temper tantrum.

Instead?

He pulls a Polian and gets it changed by the competition committee.

Also putting the Edelman play in the day before? Ballsy.

I'm ok with the rule changing, it was certainly deceptive and confusing, and if that was happening hundreds of times a season it would be a nuisance for fans because we can't always hear the ref telling us who is eligible. Still I'm thrilled it was this team and this coach that saw it and used it to win a game.

The Titans didn't run that play, but they played around with players in different spots. What the Titans did was put 4 skill guys as OL because they were going to try a lateral play on the final play of the game, so they didn't want someone lateraling to a regular OL. But it got the Pats staff thinking.

And they called it "Baltimore" and "Raven" because that's who it was installed for. They weren't tweaking them. Now, if they do it this season and call it that...

On cmon, Billick was on to comment about a just aired documentary about the coaches doing this amazing job. Complimenting the coaches on their great work seemed part of the show.

I think it is in exact reverse order. i.e. start at the bottom and work your way up. I'm thinking there are some bits from the beginning missing there, but these are the best bits.

Those appear to be listed in reverse order.  edit: beaten to it

Actually I think the media one is first.

It's a travesty that certain people in the League take something this good -- what the Pats do-- and try to trash it because they cannot do it nearly as well. But that's the way of this world.

YES!  THANKS!

Edit: There's probably 35 minutes of video here.  I assume there's about 10 minutes missing in case anyone has a downloadable version.

Also, I think Using Media as Motivation is #1 followed by Pound the Ball, Under Pressure, Championship Drive, and The Play.

Edit2: Also, it's weird that the videos are labeled, 1, 3, 4, 5, 6.  But if I chance the numbers to 2 (the Ravens game isn't covered in those 5 links) it doesn't work.

Seems like the 2nd clip isn't working.  That seems like it would be the Ravens game.  Harbaugh must have complained to the Rules Committee NFL Network to get that stricken from the record, too.

Yeah, I can't find it on Google or NFL.com under a different URL either. It looks like they haven't posted it.

There's still a ton more footage they didn't use in this, and I wonder if we'll see it later. In fact, some of the footage they used in promoting the show wasn't in it. Even Jon Kraft's "I thought it was sour grapes" quote, which was used as a teaser heading into commercial tonight, never appeared in the doc itself.

Your larger point might be correct, but I just watched that quote from Jonathan Kraft in the doc. And I'm sure because I never watched any of the promos.

It was kind of a teaser within the doc, wasn't it? They didn't use Jonathan Kraft at all once they came back from commercial during the Deflategate portion, as I recall, though I could be wrong.

My larger point is certainly correct, they sat Belichick alone down for four hours as part of the process, and I'm sure there was a ton more from the other coaches.

Yes, it was at the end of chapter 3, leading into the DG chapter.

And yes, of course you are correct that they interviewed people for more than the few minutes of screen time each coach received. My guess is that it will stay on the cutting room floor.

It's so weird that they think belichick is such a mystery when it comes to the access etc.

He's always been a historian of the game. He's done great NFL films specials in previous years. It's nothing really out of character.

It's just out of character for the caricature everyone has made up about Belichick.

Looking back , there was so much poetry in this and their 2014 team.

Knowing now that the numbers released by Mort were wrong and subsequently forced the team to defend against a falsity made me harder than usual when Mona Lisa Vito says, "No, it's a trick question." It certainly was bullshit, Ms. Vito. Belichick's smirk when he talks about the reference is perfect.

The continuation of the curse of the circus catch by a guy named Kearse. That play is still so incomprehensible and reliving it so surreal. My synapses were misfiring after suffering all those emotions and I view it newly every time I see it. Malcolm erased history and that deserves to be recognized as such.

And the end of the doc, when Belichick says it's a players' game: does a better contrast with the anti-player, anti-labor Commissioner Goodell exist?

Every asshat claiming the Dynasty is built on cheating should be Clockwork Oranged with this production. Preparation, attention to detail, humility and malleability in thought. This team is the best because they prepare the best.

So many great moments in there.

Definitely one of the top ones for me is Amendola (and the players) having the right to call off a play based upon what they see and then seeing the footage of Amendola putting up the two handed "no no no" to the Kansas City double pass.

Which then ties into the end with Belichick saying "it's the players that make the game. In between the lines"
