ACL, MCL? Sprain? Please?

Official status right now is out with a knee (duh). He wasn't planted on the ground, but that was a rugged hit.

He was putting weight on it from the MRI room to the locker room, probably means nothing though

Not that anyone cares (not a Pats fan) but I admire the success and genius of Bb and Gronk would be a great buddy. Sick to see him hurt.

I didn't think the hit on Gronk in the first half when a DB went low was all that dirty -- the hit was closer to his thigh than his knee and the DB did have to stop Gronk there.

The injury was a dirty shot. DB dove at his back leg, after the ball was well beyond the receiver. Fuck that guy sideways.

Oh yeah, Hightower's hurt too. This is a joke.

@AdamSchefter: More testing likely and further updates ahead, but one source just texted this on Gronk's leg injury: "Doesn't appear to be serious."

He very severely hyper extended it at the very least. If that's best case scenario would he be back for the playoffs?

hoping for the best. Patriots with Gronk, Danny and Edelman is a far superior team to Denver. Lets hope we have Gronk when it matters most.

Someone go ring DRS' doorbell multiple times. He can get my $10 when he does his job. Doesn't he know real live people's health takes a back seat to the interwebs???

Somewhere
I'll take a (reasonably) healthy Gronk and a loss over the other way around any time.

I honestly didn't think the hit was that dirty. Gronkowski was put airborne by that off-balance medicine ball and that makes him vulnerable to all sorts of havoc.

That's as good of news as we could expect immediately after I guess, hopefully tests confirm tomorrow

Loss tonight is fine if Gronk and Hightower are ok. Pats will murder that team in Denver if moderately healthy and game is only half rigged

Then somebody is living right because I can't remember the last time somebody was carted off with a leg injury and played anytime soon. Even Ben this year hobbled off under his own power with help.

Anyone see anything on Hightower?

Here you go people - leg not planted may have saved his season. Looked awful but I'm going with a bad bone bruise, maybe back in a couple weeks. Shouldn't end his season.

I won't expect any money from you chiseling SOBs

I assume he is ok, as he spent the rest of the game on the bench... in the cold.... in the snow...

Realistically the next important game could be January 17 in the divisional round, so he has a few weeks to heal up whatever the injury may be.

Worst case you have to think they go 12-4 and most likely they go 13-3 to 15-1 and secure a 1 or 2 seed. Next week is a cakewalk, then the Jets game might be a tough one, but they should be able to handle Houston, Miami and Tennessee with out without Gronk.

Already been there. Seriously though I think it's safe to speak for everyone by saying thanks for the updates, diagnoses and prognoses.

Glad to hear the initial positive take. I can't stand playing against Gronk, but I don't want him hurt and not playing. I hope the leg not being planted helped reduce the impact.

I don't think the hit was dirty (admittedly I'm biased) but it's a huge example of how the NFL's emphasis on stopping hits up high have resulted in more danger to the legs of big hard to tackle guys like Gronk. Defenders find themselves needing to hit hard as hell to stop them and shit like this results. I hate seeing it. They may need t change rules again, which is just going to neuter defenses even more, but maybe that's the right call.

Fucked up game on many levels and both teams had multiple starters hurt. Ugly.

Ok, people, I'm going to bed - any last questions?

For the record, I bet Hightower has an MCL sprain, be back in 1-3 weeks

Wow, not serious is amazing considering it looked like he was screaming his head off. Thought it was a broken leg.

He probably thought his knee was blown out again.

Collins hopefully is back and we can live without Hightower too for a bit of time

Video on BR Team Sports, Gronk walking from x-Ray room to locker room , barley noticeable limp. And I was looking for it.

That's only because he missed. Don't kid yourself. He was targeting the knee
It's football and Gronk has 70 lbs on the DB of course he is targeting Gronk's lower body. That doesn't make it dirty.....it's football it's a violent sport and you go at guys knees to bring them down.

This is true however when you are such a physical disadvantage you don't want to go up high anyway. Even without the emphasis on hits to the head the far and away most effective was for an opposing DB to take down Gronk is to go low and for his knees.
