Mitchy Two Bags is headed to the Padres and I figure it’s a good time to thank him for all his contributions, especially in 2018.
Biggest hit of that year, I think. Kinsler had thrown away a chance at a 3-0 Series lead and the Sox had nothing going looking at being back to 2-2. Pearce was huge too but Mitch turned momentum back.Fare thee well, Molten Mitch. You were a pleasure to root for. No Mitch Moreland appreciation thread would be complete without this signature moment.

I've always loved Joe Buck's call "High fly ball to right. Back at the wall. It is GONE!" he seems to be describing Yasiel Puig's route to the ball, but Puig knows it's gone right away and never moved from his post.Fare thee well, Molten Mitch. You were a pleasure to root for. No Mitch Moreland appreciation thread would be complete without this signature moment.

As someone else said in the trade thread, down 4-0 in game 4, I was a bit worried until Mitch murdered that ball, Puig didn't even move, he knew it was gone.Biggest hit of that year, I think. Kinsler had thrown away a chance at a 3-0 Series lead and the Sox had nothing going looking at being back to 2-2. Pearce was huge too but Mitch turned momentum back.
Every single one of these guys is also in AA or above, which had been fairly barren. Draft and sign well, get more advanced guys in trades, and build up those waves of talent Chaim.Three trades have really helped restock the system. The work isn't done, but a lot has been accomplished. Obviously the Sox have lost quality players in these deals. There's zero doubt about that and the current team is worse because of the trades. That's not up for debate. But they have added a lot of talent.
In the Betts/Price deal:
- C Connor Wong
- OF Alex Verdugo - already looks like a very good MLB player
- 2b Jeter Downs
In the Hembree/Workman deal:
- P Connor Seabold
- P Nick Pivetta
In the Moreland deal:
- 3b Hudson Potts
- OF Jeisson Rosario
Obviously each of these guys comes with question marks. But each comes with some real upside. As of now, the system has a lot more young talent than it used to. Keep it coming, Chaim.
There aren’t enough words to express how thankful I am for my time here in Boston. You welcomed me in to one of the best organizations with by far the most loyal fans. To say I am grateful for my time here is an understatement. To my teammates, we had a hell of a ride together and memories I will keep the rest of my life. Thank you BoSox nation. Forever grateful. Forever a fan.
I seem to recall him moving a little bit: he turned around and watched it leave, then covered his head with his hands to further show up his pitcher/teammate before (I believe) bending slightly at the waist to show how defeated he felt, which I'm sure did a ton for team morale. The rest, as they say...I've always loved Joe Buck's call "High fly ball to right. Back at the wall. It is GONE!" he seems to be describing Yasiel Puig's route to the ball, but Puig knows it's gone right away and never moved from his post.
