I signed up for this shit. Got the connected device level, and got no free upgrade. Then, I read this thread.
So, I called them. They can't find the account. Finally transferred to a guy who was like, "oh, I helped another customer 'solve' this problem yesterday. Here's what we did. He canceled the account, then signed up for a cheaper package, and then the upgrade automatically got sent out."
That's what I did.
Thanks for the post, but holy fuck, what a terrible policy. Effectively I was paying more and getting less.
