Halfway through the Baltimore game on 3 Games to Glory IV...wicked wicked good.

Ohhhh...is there a separate special features section? If so, any nuggets?

Thanks!

There is.  But other than glancing at the menu items on the Baltimore game DVD (there are three DVDs, one for each game), I know nothing.  It seems that each DVD will have some features on it.

My plan is to watch each DVD as a whole and I had to stop at half time of the first game.  But if that is an indication, this is one massive PatsGasm.

That said, it's also a reminder of how much I miss Gil and Gino.  Nothing against Socci and Zo, each of whom I sort of like.  But Gil and Gino were epic.

Damn, one disc for each game? That's all I need to know. All the others were just one disc, I believe.

Having just watched disc 1, that was my overwhelming thought too. I think it's mostly Zolak. His analysis may in fact be better than Gino's, but SCREAMING your thoughts after every big play is grating and amateurish.

Disc 1 was fine, but I wasn't blown away. I didn't see/hear anything revelatory. The NFL's unwillingness to include on these highlight shows Harbaugh's sideline tantrums during the ineligible receiver stuff is a real minus.

As mentioned above, the Three Games to Glory IV DVD is extremely enjoyable.

have not seen all the extras yet.  But one thing worth pointing out is that one of the extras at the end of the third DVD has "preparation" in the title.  Among other things, it shows the play in practice when Butler got beat by Dobson for a completion on the exact same play he made the pick on.  Maybe others have seen that before but I hadn't and it was nice to see what I had heard so much about.  The clip about the reunion of the players from the 2001, 2003 and 2004 champions was also quite special.

Just an orgy of Pats goodness.

I was thinking the same thing.

Between that suit and the "heavily frowned upon by horse racing purists" boombox, clearly Gronk will be filming "Derbyshack" at some point.

Confirmed. The patriots are still video taping practices during Super Bowl week. More at 11.

Would it be possible for someone who isn't me to gather up all the video links (and passwords) of highlights and pin them somewhere as a group, separate from this awesome, and now rather lengthy, thread?

Reminded how much I hate Best Buy. Go in to get the DVD, no where to be found. That had 5 of them on the loss prevention desk, where you'd never look.

Biggest thing for me is they include the BB Press Conferences after each game. Riveting!

Having just gone through the first DVD, it's extremely enjoyable to say the least.

Few thoughts on the DVD / game.

-Fantastic angles on almost every play. Gives the game an "in the trenches" look instead of the standard TV wide shots
-Steve Smith absolutely killed a huge drive for them with a stupid ass penalty hitting Browner in the face. Then he does it again and get's a taunting call from the 1 that didn't hurt him, but what a moron. Between these penalties, 12 men on the field, Harbaugh getting a penalty. The Ravens being undisciplined nearly killed them.
-Edelman's mic'd up is used throughout a ton. Some interesting stuff on the bottom of the pile, "Hey Joe Flacco, throw us one!" right before Flacco throws an INT.
-It's amazing what a machine this offense turns into when Gronk and Edelman are going. Huge 3rd downs look easy.
-There's absolutely no panic at all at any point during this game. They're down 14 twice, then down 3. Brady seems almost happy to be down 3 with the ball.
-The officiating was pretty horrible at times. The Revis PI down the side lines, the fact that it's apparently legal to bear hug Gronk when they're throwing to him, the non-horse collar on Vereen
-Is Rashaan Melvin on suicide watch? They picked on him constantly. It feels like he gave up about 35 pass completions. There was sequence on the final TD drive where he had Amendola 5 yards short of the first down and got shook off. Then they went right back after him with Hooman, the back at him again with Edelman 3 plays in a row.
-The "behind the scenes" was a bit short and could have been really interesting.
-Nice surprise to see the "Belistrator" segment from every week on All Access with Zo.

I watched the 2nd DVD on Sunday night and the bonus features last night. The Cribbs fumble off the helmet was so huge as it set up the Patriots for an easy score.  Hightower was mic'd up for the AFC title game and he is a real leader on defense.  Love him asking somebody to pick Luck off in the 4th and "pass it back to ol' High so he can score a TD" then Collins picked Luck off.  They just beat the shit out of the Colts DL and deflated their will.  It also amazed me that the more the rain came down the more they passed the ball with success.

The behind the scenes portion was alright but could have been better.  They just showed them practicing and the scouts scouting either Seattle or Green Bay for the Super Bowl.

Just got to disc 3. It's "Preparing for Greatness"

Great shot of it in practice. The right side lineup was almost exactly what ended up happening in the Super Bowl, a few yards out but no wonder he knew what was coming.

On the reunion, it's funny you hear about bad blood about how the Pats do business and players leaving pissed, but there's Ted Johnson, Seymour and others all as happy as can be.

Finished disc 3. Reliving this game was so enjoyable and brought back so many emotions. The best part for me was Edelman talking to his dad on the field after the game. He's a complete class act and a testament to what hard work pays off to. The reunion piece was great also. Kraft is so great to the former players and forming a family of sorts.

The most recent Real Sports episode on HBO has a piece with Russell Wilson being forced to dissect and discuss at length the Butler interception.  Whether your thing is schadenfreude or not, it's a very enjoyable segment and not to be missed.

I'm finally getting a chance to dig into the 3 Games to Glory bonus features, and man, this purchase was worthwhile for the season-long Belichick Breakdowns alone.

And I still can't figure out how Edelman recovered his own fumble in the Baltimore game.  That was truly phenomenal.

Yes.  20 bucks and has everything in the iTunes extras which plays beautifully on my AppleTV and laptop.  I'm returning the un-opened BluRay that I thought was a good deal on Amazon until Padaiyappa told me about the digital version.  By the way, the quality of the iTunes copy on my Bigscreen TV is incredible which is why I thought I wanted the BluRay.  With the added bonus being able to load onto my iPhone so I can watch it anytime :)

I wasn't thrilled with the official Super Bowl film either, but I think that's because I may have been spoiled by how amazing Band of Bearded Brothers was (I think that's still my favorite championship film I've ever seen, and somehow it's just $6.99 on amazon right now for the Blu-Ray).  3 Games to Glory IV is really good, and well worth the money, even though I really miss Gil and Gino at times.  I haven't even made it to the third disc yet (with the SB) because I've been slowly making my way through all the bonus features on the first two discs.

edit:  just watched Disc 3, and it was amazing.  I would have willingly paid much, much more for this set.  But really, if you're going to include "the entire 4th quarter of the NBC broadcast", don't fucking edit out the part at the end where Seattle committed the personal foul after Brady kneeled the ball.  Including every other second except that portion is fucking stupid.

Funny, just this morning -- for no good reason, I was again replaying this end-of-game sequence while I was in the shower. First, how the flag thrown for celebration gave me a temporary heart attack, but I was able to celebrate again when the ref announced, "the interception is confirmed..."   But then, because the ball was on the half-yard line, I still couldn't take in the joy. It was the next flag, where sheer bliss finally began to settle in.

That was pretty much my reaction too, except my pants stayed on (because the kids were watching with me). Had they been in bed it most definitely would have been pants off paint the walls and ceiling time.
