Red Sox acquire Mauricio Llovera

27 yo, has thrown a whopping 29 innings in the majors (5 this year). DFAed by San Fran three days ago. Basically a scrap heap guy.

Llovera has to join Red Sox in majors because he’s out of options so expect a bullpen move there (Jacques?). TBD if Llovera will join team for Friday’s game in SF.
Nothing that I can tell, and no funky arm action. Quick glance he’s got two pitches, a monster power sinker that sits 96 and an ok slider, and tunnels then well. Seems like someone to see if we can slip through waivers over the chaos of this week.
I had Johnson #143 on my Red Sox Top 205 Prospects list... so pretty much.
He was our 11th round pick last year. 6.55 ERA at Salem, but pitching a bit better lately.

Brock Bell is #147. He's 2 years older & only a level higher. Has been through a lot of injuries & missed a ton of time, & is also pitching better lately.
Pretty sure he's Jay Bell's nephew.

Marques Johnson had a fairly big role in the movie White Men Can't Jump.. Pretty good player in the Association as well.

Love this move. Ridiculous K rates in the minors, low BB rates. Bloom adding guys left and right who haven't made the leap to the bigs yet but could. Taking advantage of the roster crunches other teams are experiencing to nab guys who other teams can't fit in right now. Jacques still got options so he's easy enough to move down.
I wonder if it was swiped from the real life story of Marvin Barnes trying to rob the liquor store he lived above.
