I was responding to comments that they wilted.

The score is never about one play, but emotionally Lafell's OPI in the fourth was a killer. Without it the Pats had a first down at the Miami 25 down 3. Instead they had a third andSeels said:LaFell is awful. A disappointing game for everyone but he was noticeably terrible. What happened on that last pass in the 4th quarter? Did he forget he was playing football?
He's was a terrible player in Carolina and likely will be here. It will be very disappointing if he is getting playing time latter this year given the draft capital spent on wide receivers. Hopefully Dobson didn't have a setback.crystalline said:The score is never about one play, but emotionally Lafell's OPI in the fourth was a killer. long from the 50 and ended up punting.
Should fare well against Peterson next week on turf.RedOctober3829 said:Vellano was absolutely terrible too. Not the answer in the 3-4.
You're totally right. Looking back on it without the lens of having just sat through the game, and also considering his 'rushing' stats as I look back at the box score, I'd say he performed about as well as one could given the passes Brady was throwing and the lack of a running game.twibnotes said:Why is Edelman just a B-?
I don't know. Tom missed an open Edelman and threw at several covered receivers during the game . Now it's true that the line sucked and probably true that his receivers just were not open. And the running game was hardly existent.Stitch01 said:This game had zero to do with the heat, the conditions, and very little to do with Brady. They have gotten clocked in Foxboro.
Should just play 9 men in the box with Revis on Patterson.Ed Hillel said:Should fare well against Peterson next week on turf.

Replay didn't have a good angle on the first one by Jones, but it appeared quite possible that Jones karate-chopped Tannehill in the neck.
Jones' second infraction seemed like a clear-cut helmet to the QB's facemask = legit call.

There was, "well they'll get used to the conditions in August." Never persuaded by that
No dome in Minnesota this year. But Cassel is still there, which is nice.SeoulSoxFan said:
Yup not an excuse but Brady is 6-7 I believe in his last 13. Miami is always tough. Hey remember when they looked like dog poop against the Bills in game 1 before pulling out a come back?
Season is long, despite some comments on the game thread I think very, very few thought Pats were going undefeated for the season nor in the division.
I'm stepping away from the ledge and moving onto Minnesota. Dome + Cassel = victory #1.

I thought both were for "driving the QB to the turf" which is ridiculous.
Rule 12, Section 2, Article 9 sets forth the standards for roughing the passer. “Referees will be particularly alert to fouls in which defenders impermissibly use the helmet and/or facemask to hit the passer, or use hands, arms or other parts of the body to hit the passer forcibly in the head or neck area.”

Which is kind of an issue for lengthy defenders who come in with arms raised to bat down the ball. I think he just has to put his head down and drive into the QB insteadDollar said:
The second one was. The first one was called "illegal hit to the neck of the quarterback", which is a legit call.
Yeah, the Vikings actually looked pretty good today. Cassel played well and AP is always a threat, especially figuring our D was little more than a damp paper bag to Moreno.Stitch01 said:SSf, This is way more worrisome than the opener last year. That team was missing guys and still outplayed Buffalo a lot outside of a couple of dumb turnovers. Today a close to healthy team got destroyed in all three phases. I was certain the 2012 team was good at 1-2 and pretty confident last years team was still going to be the division winner and figure stuff out. I can't say that right now, certainly won't be betting on them beating the Vikings next week.

Speaking of, you may want to throw his post-game quote in here. He may not be seeing the field much next week.
