Adults don't invest anything much in professional athletes beyond their on field talent.
Laughably untrue. Obviously so.

You apparently view sports as some morality play.
I clearly don't and nothing I've said here would suggest otherwise, so that isn't "apparent." We've established you haven't read/ absorbed the thread, no need to keep pointing it out.

I pointed out your childish silliness.
One of us made an obvious observation about a public figure's persona. The other turned it into a passion play about defending Tom Brady from "cartoonish" "attacks" on his "character." Sure, one of those is childish and silly.

You've responded by resorting to cheap snark regarding my tongue in cheek avatar twice now
Sure, "tongue-in-cheek."

declaring that anyone who thinks your arguments have been weak and unconvincing "doesn't, grasp the flow of the conversation"
I didn't declare. I clearly showed. It's also all here, in the thread. Not really sweatin' that.

More willifully stupid drivel. You clearly can't be reasoned with. I'm sure you'll need the last word. Have at it.

David Ortiz since 2003 is a loveable great player who brought home 3 championships.
Tom Brady since 2001 is the greatest player of all time in his sport and brought home 4 championships and counting.

Tom Brady by a landslide. It's crazy that Ortiz is winning this. I think it may have to do with 162 games vs 16 regular season games. But still. The GOAT vs PostSeason Legend.
Bill Belichick doesn't agree, he thinks the greatest of all time is Jim Brown.

But he followed that up by calling him a gigantic twat.

The 2004 Red Sox postseason changed my life and it's easily the greatest moment of my sports fandom. Ortiz was a huge part of that and two other WS. But the 4 Super Bowls were pretty meaningful too and just by position (DH vs QB), Brady accounted for more of my teams success.

When it comes to intangibles/character, people can criticize Brady over a hat and flippant comment. But I prefer to see the guy who was chosen 199th in the draft yet became arguably the greatest QB of all time. Even fans of other teams have to admit how remarkable the story is. From his meticulous diet to his constant training, Brady's work ethic appears to be unmatched. His insane determination combined with how much more he meant to his team than Ortiz makes my answer Brady...by a mile.

This has nothing to do with who the better player is. It's about who you personally will miss more on the playing field. I think more people have a connection with Ortiz over Brady because of their respective personalities. Also because for more people here the Sox mean more than the Pats.

Your premise was so utterly fucking moronic in the first place, it deserved the all scorn that can be heaped upon it. Adults don't invest anything much in professional athletes beyond their on field talent. You apparently view sports as some morality play. I pointed out your childish silliness. You've responded by resorting to cheap snark regarding my tongue in cheek avatar twice now, declaring yourself too smart to continue, and declaring that anyone who thinks your arguments have been weak and unconvincing "doesn't, grasp the flow of the conversation" So by all means cupcake, please tap out. You won't be missed.
This, in the context of this thread, is one of the most gloriously self-unaware posts I have ever seen.

Well, Trump killed this thread.

My vote is for Papi. When watching his last AB last weekend I realized how much he has played a role in my own narrative - mostly in 2004. Watching Brady & Co. mechanically pick apart team by team has been an exercise in experiencing greatness, but Papi and the 2004 Red Sox flipped the script of what it was to be a fan for me and was as good as being a fan of sport gets.
