He's a unique dude. He had this installed in his Chicago condo...."I would never go a trip without 4 pairs of earrings" sounds like a high maintenance guy.

Lakers have to be getting Kawhi because there will be nobody left.Marc Stein: Seth Curry and the Mavericks have reached an agreement on a four-year, $32 million deal, league sources say, bringing the younger Curry back to Dallas after he won many admirers here in his previous stint
Wow, that's something of a shocker. They gave a max offer to Hassan back in 2016 before he returned to Miami so Olshey has always had a thing for him. Not sure how he fits there when Nurkic returns. Moving Moe and Meyers is addition by subtraction.Miami traded Hassan Whiteside to Portland for Moe Harkless and Meyers Leonard per Woj
Also signals the exit of Enes Kanter. Maybe the C's get him.Wow, that's something of a shocker. I think all they need is a big who can rebound, play a little defense, and take up space, because the main offensive guys are obviously going to be Kemba (god I love saying that!), Jaylen, Hayward, and Tatum.Honestly, Kanter wouldn't be a bad get. Sure, he offers no versatility on either end of the court, but he's big, physical, rebounds well and is a decent low post scorer. I'd prefer Boogie or WCS but Kanter brings enough to the table to be a viable starting C.
Well Kanter can do one, maybe two of those things. He's probably the best center still on the market, but his game is all offense. That doesn't sound like the guy you're describing.I think all they need is a big who can rebound, play a little defense, and take up space, because the main offensive guys are obviously going to be Kemba (god I love saying that!), Jaylen, Hayward, and Tatum.
If I had to pick the biggest winners of the offseason thus far, I would argue that aside from the obvious in the Lakers and Nets, the Pacers and Jazz both got much better. Indiana adding Brogdon and Warren were great, sort of under the radar moves. I like Lamb too though he can be streaky. They kind of remind me of a poor man's Raptors and what they did looks even better if Toronto loses Kawhi.Still trying to process everything that happened yesterday and re-evaluate where things stand, but would it be crazy to say that Utah might be the best team in the West? They added Conley, Bogdanovic and Ed Davis to an already good core. Mitchell will be better. Ingles will be scary running bench units with all those new pieces around him. They can shoot, defend, go big or small. I love that team.
Leaving Brooklyn and their big day out, I like what Indiana and NOP did too. Indiana looks like a top four team in the East. Pelicans could be sneaky good depending on how quickly Zion assimilates to the NBA game.
They are definitely going to be one of those "League Pass" teams - will be fascinating to see how they do with all their new pieces but should be a really fun team to root for/follow. I'd be pretty pumped if I were a NOP fan considering, which is saying something considering they just lost AD.Pelicans could be sneaky good depending on how quickly Zion assimilates to the NBA game.
Well he's big (6'11", 250) and takes up space. He's also not a bad rebounder. The last two seasons he's done this:Well Kanter can do one, maybe two of those things. He's probably the best center still on the market, but his game is all offense. That doesn't sound like the guy you're describing.
He rebounds. End of story from what I've seen.Well Kanter can do one, maybe two of those things. He's probably the best center still on the market, but his game is all offense. That doesn't sound like the guy you're describing.
He can rebound. Can't play defense. Still debating whether or not he takes up space. I mean physically, yes, but when your feet don't move it doesn't do much good.Well he's big (6'11", 250) and takes up space. He's also not a bad rebounder. The last two seasons he's done this:
2017-18: 25.8 min, 11.0 rebounds (15.3 reb per 36 min)
2018-19: 24.5 min, 9.8 rebounds (14.5 reb per 36 min)
For comparison's sake, Horford's rebounding numbers the past two seasons:
2017-18: 31.6 min, 7.4 rebounds (8.4 reb per 36 min)
2018-19: 29.0 min, 6.7 rebounds (8.4 reb per 36 min)
And here's Embiid's rebounding numbers the past two seasons:
2017-18: 30.3 min, 11.0 rebounds (13.0 reb per 36 min)
2018-19: 33.7 min, 13.6 rebounds (14.6 reb per 36 min)
Seems to me that Kanter is perfectly fine as a rebounder. So he takes up space, is a good offensive player, and as it turns out, the past two seasons anyway has been a very good rebounder. So maybe the only thing he doesn't do well is play defense?
Well at this point, they're not gonna find a guy who does everything well, are we agreed on that? It's about finding the best available player(s) given the budget constraints. Kanter seems as good as any that's left.He can rebound. Can't play defense. Still debating whether or not he takes up space. I mean physically, yes, but when your feet don't move it doesn't do much good.
Can you make the argument for WCS? Kanter is a better rebounder, shoots it better, is a better foul shooter...Honestly, Kanter wouldn't be a bad get. I've heard that particular skill is typically the last thing to go.Still debating whether or not he takes up space.
I can't say for sure how he has progressed as a pro, but back when he was one of our draft binkies he was thought of as a guy who could switch on anyone defensively and fit the scheme pretty well. Can you make the argument for WCS? Kanter is a better rebounder, shoots it better, is a better foul shooter...
I hate him now (in a basketball sense). I am getting angry just thinking about him getting strafed by Horford and Embiid.I think we would all hate Kanter within a month
There's really nobody out there right now that the Celtics could get that wouldn't get mauled by those two guys though. I mean, what options do the Celtics REALLY have at this point? They're building their team from the outside-in...they just need a serviceable guy in the middle. He's gonna have holes in his game. If he didn't, he'd already be getting PAID by someone else.I hate him now (in a basketball sense). I am getting angry just thinking about him getting strafed by Horford and Embiid.
My argument for WCS is that he's versatile defensively. He moves his feet, he's athletic and he can handle switches. He's not skilled, his basketball IQ has never impressed me, but he has genuine size, he's long and bouncy and he seems like he can defend. He's a viable rebounder, but Kanter is the better rebounder and scorer. WCS has the defensive versatility. That's the bigger need for me, but Kanter would be okay for a year. Can you make the argument for WCS? Kanter is a better rebounder, shoots it better, is a better foul shooter...

Who do you think is the best defensive center attainable?Kanter remains terrible defensively. That's the case against him. Insofar as we're looking for a stop-gap center, I'd rather add a defense-first guy. I presume Ainge agrees, given all the times he's passed on bringing in Kanter in the past.

What is Robert Williams if not a defensive big? Then again....
I agree with above---I'd rather a defense-first big. Obviously Danny is more concerned with scoring. Or rebounding. Or dissident politics. Or something.
A Lord of Time. What is Robert Williams if not a defensive big?
A really young, really thin interesting project. Guy only played a couple hundred minutes---I'd be thrilled if he's able to play 20 minutes a game this year, but I think that's an aggressive ask. What is Robert Williams if not a defensive big?
Hopefully they can add someone at the vet min who can play defense.A really young, really thin interesting project. Guy only played a couple hundred minutes---I'd be thrilled if he's able to play 20 minutes a game this year, but I think that's an aggressive ask.
I wouldn't hold your breath, unless there's a G-league guy who can fill that role.Hopefully they can add someone at the vet min who can play defense.
An interesting project that may or may not be an actual NBA player. What is Robert Williams if not a defensive big?
Or just deal with Toronto directly and send Gallo and a first for Leonard. Or package together Gallo, Shamet, and some of those firsts for another wing like Beal. The problem is that LAC lost the game of musical chairs, so there’s no good reason for Kawhi to go there now. There’s also not much room left to trade Gallo into, although that could probably be managed by overpaying with a far-out 1st rounder.
