Ah ok, not terrible. But it may complicate things for a team like the Sox that probably already needs to add a few more players as is and isn’t anxious to drop anyone.Yes, you can use the 60 day starting on the first day of spring training.

This would be so funny. Mets payroll would be at like $500M including tax payments.
A salary cap isn't being approved by the players without a corresponding salary floor for teams and I don't know how many owners would sign up for that. But if it does happen, I think the owners will be hellbent on a salary cap on the next CBA since they tried to control Cohen with that extra tax line, and he's not giving a shit.
It looks like all the crazy money dried up and Boras is left with very improbable teams to use as stalking horses (sort of like the D-Backs’ reported interest in X). I guess if the Padres can have 3 or 4 shortstops on the roster, Cohen might think he needs a spare…Not buying that. Boras is trying to squeeze another year out of someone.
I'm loosely basing it on what his clients are getting v what the market expected (market meaning fangraphs crowdsource, fangraphs 'experts', MLBTR) and what other agents are getting for their clients. It's not an exact science though, just a feeling. It just feels like Boras is getting huge overpays compared to what was expected. For previous years, he was getting above expectations but not as wild as this year.Seems like pretty easy money to me, are other agents doing worse factoring in talent level? I have been saying it since the first week of the winter, there is more collective money to spend this winter than there is talent available and if any GMs are waiting around for bargains to fall to them, I think they will be waiting a long time.
Correa probably would have gotten a similarly huge deal last offseason if the lockout didn't last so long. 14/385 total if you factor in his year in MIN, nice work if you can get it (and almost no one can).
There is more cost certainty than there's been for a few years in the sport with a new CBA locked in, fans back in the stadiums, and different revenue streams seemingly opening up all the time.Maybe it is like you said, there's more money to spend this year and teams are ignoring the tax issue.
Decent try? They were nowhere close. Falvey just completely blew it. How did he not see the market for what it was? He's so over his head. /twinsfaninsoxfanmode
If only they had offered him 10/$285m to forgo his opt out this all could have been avoided & he never would have made it to free agency.Decent try? They were nowhere close. Falvey just completely blew it. How did he not see the market for what it was? He's so over his head. /twinsfaninsoxfanmode
At least we would have someone to eat innings. We dont even have that right now. It’s a shame they didn’t land Strahm too.
So you’re saying we should go after Big Sexy Bartolo Colon, who is still pitching in the Dominican League? At least we would have someone to eat innings. We dont even have that right now.
Does he eat innings still? Or just burgers? So you’re saying we should go after Big Sexy Bartolo Colon, who is still pitching in the Dominican League?
Heres a list of current FA SP's on the market. Pick a couple. So you’re saying we should go after Big Sexy Bartolo Colon, who is still pitching in the Dominican League?
Including Paxton on that list is both superfluous and incorrect. Paxton signed that deal last offseason.
True, though I think he opted-in this season ... so, technically correct?Including Paxton on that list is both superfluous and incorrect. Paxton signed that deal last offseason.
1.01 billion.
5% is max per MLB and he probably splits it with his assistants.1.01 billion.
What's Boras's commission? 10%?
And 1% likely goes to Heyman.5% is max per MLB and he probably splits it with his assistants.

Outfielder Joey Gallo and the Minnesota Twins are in agreement on a one-year contract, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN.
Joey Gallo will get $11 million in his deal with the Twins, sources tell ESPN. He's still just 29. With a solid season this year -- remember, he put up 4.7 Wins Above Replacement in 2021 -- he's still primed to do well next year. But no doubt: This is a make-or-break season.
Yes, Abreu signed a 6-year $68 million contract, which I am guessing was the previous top contract for the WS.Wow, kind of shocking that’s the biggest contract in ChiSox history, isn’t it?
Grandal at $73MYes, Abreu signed a 6-year $68 million contract, which I am guessing was the previous top contract for the WS.
$73M is the largest contract in White Sox history? Wow.Grandal at $73M
$73M is the largest contract in White Sox history? Wow.
https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/white-sox/white-sox-grant-largest-reported-contract-franchise-historyBenintendi overtook Yasmani Grandal for the largest guaranteed figure in White Sox history, besting him by $2 million. The next highest-valued contracts include Grandal ($73 million), Yoán Moncada ($70 million extension), John Danks ($65 million), Frank Thomas ($64.4 million) and Paul Konerko ($60 million).
I’ve harped on this, but Benintendi should have been moved the previous winter, when he still had the sheen of a budding young star (which the team should have seen through after several facets of his game fell apart in 2019).I think Bloom was a hundred percent right to move Benintendi when he did, the issue was the poor return and inadequate replacements, but the original decision was the right one, I think.
