Dodgers probably live another day but hard to see the Padres winning both games left, they have checked out.
Padres now 78-82, guaranteed a losing record. Epic fail.Dodgers probably live another day but hard to see the Padres winning both games left, they have checked out.
Yeah but more importantly we need the Sox season to continue.I think this guarantees the Yankee season continues past Sunday. Meh.
Kinda feel bad for them in a way. This one is gonna sting for them.Next time anyone complains about the Sox hitting in clutch situations remember the Ms tonight.
Massive gut punch loss
I would if it weren't the Sox in this situation.Kinda feel bad for them in a way. This one is gonna sting for them.
The beauty of the game.I would if it weren't the Sox in this situation.
To be fair this Ms team sucked most of the year and was getting ridiculously lucky to be in the race until they actually got decent.
Would you save him or go for home field?Hitting the trifecta tomorrow that lets the Sox clinch and save Sale would be pretty awesome.
I'd save him, but that's because personally I'd take him over Eovaldi for a WC game if I got to choose. I know a lot of people would take Eovaldi, so if Cora would take Eovaldi anyway then you might as well start Sale on Sunday.Would you save him or go for home field?
I’d save him to use for 2-3 innings Tuesday behind Eovaldi.Would you save him or go for home field?
But his curve looks tough. Allows the weak cheese to play.Jansen’s cheese looks weak
Also, some of the Sox pop ups to first base might turn into home runs in Yankee Stadium, so it could help.Since the pen is short on reliable arms, I would rather have both Sale and Eovaldi available for the Wild Card game. Don’t think potential homefield is worth burning Sale.
If I may, I'd like to push back against the dominant narrative around the Mariners a little bit. People love citing their -49 run differential (or whatever it is on a given day) without a lot of additional information, but really, they just had a bad month. Most of that was built up ("built down") during a very terrible May when they were -43. They're +6 since August 1.To be fair this Ms team sucked most of the year and was getting ridiculously lucky to be in the race until they actually got decent.
Ok, but in that time they're +6 they're also 33-22, that's still way above expectation, so the current team isn't a bad team, but they aren't exactly playoff caliber. Take out that one bad month and they're 76-56 with a -6 run diff. I guess sucked is a bit strong, but they weren't good most of the year.If I may, I'd like to push back against the dominant narrative around the Mariners a little bit. It is just one game they are behind. The odds are against them, and there's no margin for error, and Toronto is probally more likely to win both of their games. But not over.I think it really is over this time.
If the Red Sox lose this bullpen game, it opens the doorIt is just one game they are behind. The odds are against them, and there's no margin for error, and Toronto is probally more likely to win both of their games. But not over.
It would make the Red Sox odds of winning the WCG a lot better if they can pitch Sale in it compared to a scrub versus a rested Cole.If the Red Sox lose this bullpen game, it opens the door
can't believe you ever thought any other wayMay have to amend my post about ending it today. There is a ton of value in forcing them to burn Cole tomorrow.
Will they rest him if home field is on the line?May have to amend my post about ending it today. There is a ton of value in forcing them to burn Cole tomorrow.
When they lose today, they'd have to win tomorrow or else they could be in a 2, 3 or 4 way tieWill they rest him if home field is on the line?
Right, but let’s say Yanks win and Sox win. Would they rest Cole? Probably, right? When they lose today, they'd have to win tomorrow or else they could be in a 2, 3 or 4 way tie
Yeah, they would if they're smart ... although, in theory, if they lost Sunday, Toronto and/or Seattle could work their way back into the mixRight, but let’s say Yanks win and Sox win. Would they rest Cole? Probably, right?
Yankees are 2 up on those teams, if they win today the worst they could be is wc2 even if they lost sundayYeah, they would if they're smart ... although, in theory, if they lost Sunday, Toronto and/or Seattle could work their way back into the mix
i was going off the original idea of a Yankees loss today, but you are rightYankees are 2 up on those teams, if they win today the worst they could be is wc2 even if they lost sunday
