Yeah if they lose today it's interesting, it actually probably would still make sense to rest Cole because they're burning him for a single elimination playoff game either way and starting him tomorrow still doesn't guarantee a win to avoid a 163. I think it would only make sense to start him if they couldn't even get to a 163, which isn't possible at this point.i was going off the original idea of a Yankees loss today, but you are right
You’d pitch him to avoid the extra game, I thinkYeah if they lose today it's interesting, it actually probably would still make sense to rest Cole because they're burning him for a single elimination playoff game either way and starting him tomorrow still doesn't guarantee a win to avoid a 163. Brandon “Johnny Damon” Lowe!Lowe almost did it again.
Maybe, but then you're guaranteed to not have him for the WC game, and pitching him still doesn't guarantee you avoid the extra game. If you rest him worst case is you get Cole for game 163 and best case is you get him for the WC game, if you pitch him worst case is you have to win multiple elimination games without him. You’d pitch him to avoid the extra game, I think
The worst the MFY can finish this weekend as is in a play-in game for WC2.TB may be playing to push NYY out of the playoffs for matchup reasons.
I'm fine with that. I think the Jays can beat them. The worst the MFY can finish this weekend as is in a play-in game for WC2.
Just makes them getting in much more difficult. The worst the MFY can finish this weekend as is in a play-in game for WC2.
Yep, good hook, given the whole picture.Cash isn’t pushing Baz in a game like this.
They’re still playing above their heads but they’re more like a .500ish team overachieving, which is a lot less remarkable. From a narrative perspective at least, if their seasonal differential really were -6, we probably wouldn’t have heard quite as much about it.Ok, but in that time they're +6 they're also 33-22, that's still way above expectation, so the current team isn't a bad team, but they aren't exactly playoff caliber. Take out that one bad month and they're 76-56 with a -6 run diff. I guess sucked is a bit strong, but they weren't good most of the year.
If you take out May they'd still be close to historically lucky, over the full season they're on pace to be the luckiest team ever. They’re still playing above their heads but they’re more like a .500ish team overachieving, which is a lot less remarkable. From a narrative perspective at least, if their seasonal differential really were -6, we probably wouldn’t have heard quite as much about it.
Red Sox still gotta win 2 first, you know.Yeah Jays have that game no prob. Continuing to set up for the Yankee/jays tiebreaker.
No idea about Ray. But yeah I’m assuming the Sox mojo up. They have SJH on their side.Red Sox still gotta win 2 first, you know.
If the Jays get another game, Ray pitches it right?
Ray pitched on Thursday. It would be on 3 days rest to pitch in Game 163.Red Sox still gotta win 2 first, you know.
If the Jays get another game, Ray pitches it right?
Not if the Sox don't win today. :-/So now Cole will be burned tomorrow. That works.
