Hey y'all,
 
As one of the few mods here, first of all I thank you for participating in our neck o' the woods. The last few years have seen a tremendous growth in both quantity and quality of the content & discussion that goes around here on a daily basis. 
 
We'd like to keep it that way. 
 
So, as the football season gets more intense, I'd like to remind everyone that trolling in any form will not be tolerated on this forum. 
 
This goes for the instigating comments as well as any "reverse-trolling" posts. 
 
Some of  you may have noticed my red warnings against trolling activities. That's the first strike. Second strike will come as a PM warning. Third strike would be for me and other mods to recommend removing the offender as a member (if you're a lurker, a ban).

Good question SS. There's always a gray area and it'll be up to the mods to give out "official" warnings. 
 
Having said that, I feel most trolling is quickly shot down by fellow posters so there's a lot of self-policing going around as well. Can't speak for other mods but for me I'll step it when trolling is not self-policed within 2-3 exchanges.
 
My tendency as a mod is to be a step in late than early however. If trolling has taken off w/o any mod control, please do PM me to jump in.

Or, use the REPORT button located in the lower right of every post next to Edit, Multiquote & Quote buttons.

In V&N there's a Post Wasteland where trolling-type posts are put, for shaming and I assume warning purposes.
Maybe there could be a Blinded by the Wasteland where some examples of offending behavior can lie, like human heads on sharpened sticks kind of thing?
Don't want to add extraneous work...just a thought.

I've thought about it but (thankfully) I don't think we're there yet simplyeric. Like I mentioned before, the level of self-policing has gotten better and better and hopefully will continue to improve.

Which makes me post this. If the trolling is particularly blatant, you will receive a direct PM warning skipping strike one. 
 
Also note that at anytime you can PM me or other mods if you disagree with the warnings.

No, but for the record TheoShmeo gets a pass for a single trolling post for properly harnessing the power of colored fonts.

Look, today is today. Yesterday has no impact on today. It's a new day, new posters, new topics. I don't think the results of yesterday have any bearing whatsoever on today.

I would not think of your post as trolling JM. You feel strongly about the action I took as a mod, and that's how I see it and nothing more.

SS, the short answer is that I and other mods do.

Having said that, so far the relatively few incidents have been very clear cases of trolling.

If you happen to get a warning and do not agree, PM me or any other mod. Intent is to continue to reduce trolling that was much more prevalent in BbtL. It is not to penalize posters unfairly.
