Mahomes gets his deal restructured so that he get $210.6 million over the next 4 years including this one fully guaranteed.

Chiefs know how to take care of one stud.
The way I'm reading it all four years are guaranteed, no?

The Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes have restructured his agreement, giving him $210.6 million between 2023 and 2026, the most money in NFL history over a four-season span. His compensation for those years is now guaranteed, the quarterback's agent told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday.
In any event he's still a bargain.

I am noticing that more and more players are getting more money guaranteed in the NFL now. Maybe owners are counting on an ever growing cap?

Thinking the same thing. Because as great as he is, and in a vacuum, as much as he is worth every penny, that kind of contract could hamstring them as far as overall roster construction. Particularly with Kelce likely well on his back nine. But as you speculated, they must know cap growth will keep pace with these contracts , and allow teams to build at least decent rosters around the top QBs.

Something is going on regarding Bears' DC Alan Williams.

Reports are coming out that the FBI has raided both his home and Halas Hall.

Peanut Tillman is now an FBI agent and informed the coaching staff this morning that the places had been raided. From what I'm gathering from Reddit and a couple of other places, the rumor is that Williams is being investigated for the possession of child sexual abuse material.

Worth noting all the normal media in CHI are not running with either the Tillman or CSEM stories, that's all coming from a youtuber with 18k followers, so it's probably guesswork or full on made up

So...the Bears. Between their struggling young QB and their now ex-DC, not in the best place.
Yeah...about that struggling young QB:

Justin Fields spent the length of his media availability of Wednesday discussing Chicago's offensive issues, and he admitted he felt like he was "robotic and not playing like myself" during Chicago's Week 2 loss to the Buccaneers. He intends to change that Sunday in another difficult matchup against Kansas City.
"My goal this week is to say, 'eff it' and go out there and play football like I know how to play football," Fields said on Wednesday. "That includes thinking less and just going out there and playing off of instincts, rather than say so much info in my head and data in my head, and clearly just going out there and playing football. …That's when I play my best is when I'm out there playing free and being myself. So I'm going to say kind of bump all the what I should, this and that, pocket stuff. I'm going to go out there and be me."
"Could be coaching, I think," Fields said. "But at the end of the day … they're doing their job when they're giving me what to look at and stuff like that, but at the end of the day I can't be thinking about that when the game comes. I prepare myself throughout the week and when the game comes, it's time to play free at that point. So just thinking less, and playing more."

Most of the same media are saying things like "if you knew what we know...." and "he will never coach football again"...
i think it may be legit

I always love it when media types say they "know" something, but then don't report it. It usually means they have a source, or even two, but what they "know" cannot be confirmed.
It's also great cover for, when the details do come out, they can say that's what they "knew."

Or that if they ran with the story, it would expose their source, which would cause that source massive problems, so out of courtesy they don't report it. (and they don't want to lose the source either)

I'm far more cynical about the motives of media types than you are. You might well be right.

Which ones?
Rappaport straight up said that the rumors are false, no raid, no Peanut Tillman, etc. The team said that no FBI or other law enforcement at Hallas Hall, Williams' attorney (sports attorney, presumably contract guy) went on radio and said it's all false, no raids on his house or work, he has not been accused or investigated for any criminal activity, I've seen none of the actual beat reporters (Cronin, Pearson, Fishbain, Wiederer, Lieser) even suggest anything.

Sounds like a dude that can't digest an offense and just wants to do whatever he wants.

Good luck with that.
Do pro coaches and scouts talk to college coaches? Do the college coaches tell them the truth? ("We run a Pop Warner offense for him because he can't handle anything more"? or "The QB is so much better than anyone else we *have* to run a Pop Warner offense, but he can do so much more"?). Or do they just blow smoke up everyone's ass so their guys can keep getting drafted so they can keep recruiting?
I think I know the answers, but I wonder if anyone here either has some personal experience or come across some writing about the subject.

Worth noting that the Bears havent won a game since they thumped the Pats on MNF last October. Fields ran pretty much at will, and the Pats had no answers. He looked like the next big thing. Amazing how it has all gone so far downhill.

I still think it's crazy that the Bears' all-time leading receiver has only 5,059 yards, which is less than Justin Jefferson in like 3.1 seasons.

I didn’t see this posted anywhere but it seems pretty incredible. Two weeks in a row and the guy gets to play this weekend. Meanwhile Logan Thomas is still in the concussion protocol and Jakobi Meyers missed last week. I guess the league doesn’t give a crap about player safety. His victims miss 1.5 games each while he misses a half.

They only care about QBs and a few other select stars.

Extreme cheap shot by Jackson. Easily worth of a multi game suspension on its own. Coupled with last week, should have been an even easier call. This is exactly the type of hit they talk about getting out of the game. But the NFL shows once again that all their talk about player safety is nothing but lip service.

Andy Dalton starting for Bryce Young, too.

Bryce is out with an ankle. Drafting a little man with the first overall pick was definitely a decision.

I was just going through my fantasy teams. Waddle hurt. Amon Ra hurt. Derrick Henry hurt. Tyreke Hill hurt. Aiyuk already out. Saquon obviously. On top of Bryce.

That's just in one game I looked that. The injuries are piling up like I have never seen.

Pat Mcafee seems to believe otherwise. I'm inclined to believe Pat on this one. Sure smells like CP.
