How the hell is that not a technical on LeBron? He was throwing a hissy fit on the ground while the Hawks were playing their possession at the other end.

Atlanta doesn't deserve to win. They routinely have let Cleveland gobble up for naive rebounds and for some reason they can't figure out the pum fake.

The limp's gone.

There's a recently described medical phenomenon that only causes pain and a limp when you miss a shot or turn the ball over.  Lebron's got a bad case.

LOL.  The announcers act like LeBron is the only guy who played hard tonight.

The coverage of this athlete is sickening.  Golden State's sweep of Cleveland can't come soon enough.

Dude. Shut up. LeBron is a terrific player, top 10 all time easy, you could talk me into top 5, but he isn't the greatest ever.

LBJ suffers from Arod disease. Arod is one of the best guys I ever watched play but the dude says a lot of cringe worthy stuff. LBJ is right on his level.

No.  If I shut up, there will only be Curry-ettes posting in here.

Hey, I think we can all accept DJBMH's uncomfortable erections, he is entitled to them.

LBJ: Gatorade
Chuck: Tito's

Really, though, Sheldon Mack, Kent Bazemore and Mike Scott in a conference finals crunch time?! I'm a western guy, but this feels (and looked) like JV ball.

And about half the hawks team is either playing injured or already out with injury, they must not have the will or desire though

Totally agree. In my lifetime there's been about fourteen players who I've heard described by multiple people as "the greatest ever."* The greatest ever is the next guy I guess.

Russell, Chamberlain, Robertson, Abdul-Jabbar, Erving, Malone, Bird, Magic, Jordan, Olajuwon,** Walton,*** Shaq, Kobe, James...probably missing a couple.

**Olajuwon, like Malone, only enjoyed a relatively brief moment in time that people said this stuff. But I certainly heard people say that while Jordan was on vacation.

***Walton was the best all-around player ever in lots of people's eyes from college to 1977.

You have the makings of an EC Finals team with just the players injured or not available in the 2nd half tonight.

PF - Love
SF - Carroll
C - Horford
SG - Korver/Sefolosha
PG - Irving

Could be it's own thread but my informal top 10 is:

1. Jordan
2. Russell
3. Kareem
4. Bird
4A. Magic
5. Duncan
6. LeBron
7. Wilt
8. Kobe
9. West
10. Oscar

I'd love to talk about this more.

First of all, let's cool it on posters telling other posters to "shut up".  You can disagree with someone but let's try to be respectful.  And while I guess I am a "Curry-ette" whatever that means - and I am ok with it regardless - I think we need more posters with different perspectives in this forum and in these threads.  So please keep posting, even if you think LeBron sucks or is the best ever.  And ditto if you think Golden State is a crime against all that is good in baskeball.

Regarding LeBron,  its pretty amazing what he is doing with this Cleveland roster.  They are talented but if you ask where this team is with the same cast and no LeBron, I tell you they are likely sitting home after a second round exit.  The Smith, Shumpert and Mozgov trade made this team a lot deeper and Irving and Love as the stars are enough to make it to the dance.  But there is no way this team gets past Chicago without James and no way that a LeBron-less Cavs team beats Atlanta.

As for the hate, I really don't get it.  He is the best basketball player in the NBA and his whining and flopping is no different than most other stars in the league.  I honestly think that we get these complaints because the playoffs roll around and casual fans start watching teams play for the first time all year.  Working the refs has been part of the game for years but guys like LeBron, Harden and CP3 take it to the next level because it gets results.  It may not be pleasant to watch but if it works, you cant really fault them for that.

LeBron carrying this Cavs team to The Finals reminds me of the Iverson/Larry Brown Sixers that had McKie, Snow, Mutombo, Tyrone Hill, Jumaine Jones. He is 30 now with a ton of miles on him and coasted much of the regular season as older players must do......but come playoff time he's still the games best all-around player. Sign my name to your last paragraph word for word.

Agree with the majority of your post.

To highlight two minor disagreements/clarifications I would make….

#1: This Love-less and Kyrie-less Cavs team without Lebron is horrific. Like Sixers/Twolves/Knicks level bad. They are lucky they ran into a Hawks team that has hit the wall, and that's even before the Korver injury and Horford ejection tonight, but Lebron really is awesome.

#2:  Lebron's whining, IMO, is worse than most (though I agree many others do it). His crying after the non-foul/not getting back on D at the end of regulation (which almost cost his team the game) and then the on-court collapse after overtime was next level stuff.  Additionally, the constant self-praise and the attempts to play up his "warrior" and "leader" status knows no bounds. He has become a caricature of himself.

I'd like to think that the "Oh, your a LeBron hater" schtick exists frequently in other forums, but not really at SoSH.

It is really hard to judge how good LeBron has been this year, imo, because of just how god awful the East has been this year due to injuries and just an overall lack of competitive teams. How would have this Cleveland team fared in the West? Would they have made it to the conference finals? I don't dispute that LeBron is the best player in the game and the most talented player since MJ, but I find it hard to put this season in a proper perspective. Like we talked about earlier, who was the second best player in the East? John Wall? And then after him, not counting Kyrie, you have Jimmy Butler, Khris Middleton, Al Horford, etc. All fine players, but when you think of the best players in the West and it goes Curry, Harden, Westbrook, CPS, Aldridge, Blake, Kawhi, Marc Gasol, etc. It isn't even close.

Fair enough - I won't use the term "LeBron hater".

However I disagree that he whines more than most - CP3 and the Clippers including Doc (whom I will always love) work the officials constantly and there are a bunch of other NBA players including guys I love such as Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala  who are constantly pleading their cases.  Kobe is always on them as is Wade.  Its a skill set in today's NBA along with passing, playing good defense and shooting from deep.  If LeBron gets results from working the refs because he is the best player in the NBA, so be it.  The guy has earned it and even if he beat my team on his way (I paid a hefty sum to be at game six of the 2012 ECF at the Fleet Center).

What turns me off about Lebron as a persona not as a player is that he always seems like he is acting out something he read in a self help book. His act seems very forced to me. But as a ballplayer, shit, I think anyone not giving him consideration as the best is heavy on nostalgia or letting personality get in the way. I saw Jordan and remember him well, mentally he is more than LBJ but that's it. I saw magic and larry but don't remember pre 86 well enough to compare.

Lebron crying on the court doesn't bother me too much. I rooted for McHale and I swear that guy thinks he never committed a foul... Well, maybe he'd fess up to one famous one. Jordan worked the hell out of the officials too plus Stern wanted him to win.

As for curry-ettes, I'm just talking shit, it is not ill will. I'm not really an nba fan, I'm a celtics fan. I can't enjoy your happiness so I'm just lashing out.

This is a really good way to describe him. James seems to get an unusual amount of hate and it is hard to put a finger on why exactly that is. Obviously he is a great player and has been the kingpin of the NBA for at least the last 5 years, so there are always going to be those who envy success. Because of his star status and his ability to make great, highlight reel plays, he is going to be all over social media and on Sportscenter, which also creates an atmosphere where fans get sick of him.

But even so, Peyton Manning has been among the best in his profession for 15 years, he has just as much of a presence on TV as James, but even here in Patriots country  I doubt there are many true fans who genuinely dislike the guy. So I think there is certainly an issue with his attitude and the way he conducts himself (there are still plenty of scars from The Decision) that turns people off.
