It's a whole new month all over again.

And James really was amazing. He stopped at 61, as an act of mercy.

Al Jefferson had a huge game too, but nobody will remember.

Lebron has talked about being "jealous" of seeing how much KD shot (even though he only averages only more 3 shots per game, and could really shoot 30 times per game and nobody would care) so I feel like he picks out some games, meaningless games against weak opponents and just says "I'm going to go for 60 tonight."

Hopefully, this will quell some of the nuts out there that are declaring KD better than Lebron because he has some big games. Not saying anyone on here thinks that, but I run into that problem a lot on a personal basis.

Not to react to one night but if you look at LeBron's shooting %s (eFG, TS etc) he is just off the charts this season after being insane over the past few seasons.  Given his skill set (can do everything) I think I may just take peak LeBron over peak Jordan.  I don't say that lightly btw...

66.2% TS% and a usage rate of 30%. I think NBA.com is lying to me.

Note to the NBA.  Running ISOs on the Pacers with a 10 point lead and five minutes to go probably is not a great recipe for beating them.

Golden State wins 98-96 in Indiana off the back of Klay Thompson's 16 point fourth quarter, including the game-winner (a shot with under a second left).   Its only the Pacers fourth loss at home this season.   I guess ISOs at the end do work...

Russell Westbrook put up a triple double (including 14 assists) in 21 minutes tonight, fewest minutes played for a triple double since someone I never heard of for Syracuse in 1955.

That Rockets/Heat game was fun, HOU had a ton of energy and MIA didn't quite have enough on the road on the second night of a back to back.

The +/- from the Miami/Houston game are impressive, with all of Miami's starters finishing in the negatives, with Lebron finishing at -15. Also, Michael Beasley had a phenomenal game, going 9-13 from the field and scoring 24 points in 28 minutes. Miami's bench outscored Houston's 47-15 and they still lost.

The OKC game was just wacky. Not only did Westbrook have a quickie triple-double, but Durant scored 42 points and shot 18 free throws in 33 minutes. Perhaps the most amazing moment was that Hasheem Thabeet played 18 minutes. How bad does a team have to be to let Thabeet play 18 minutes against them? And these were a good 18 minutes, he had 7 points, shot 3-3 from the field and blocked 2 shots. Philly is a joke.

Howard forearm shiver to 'Bron's beak.

This same play has to be among the dumbest of James Harden's career, although it didn't end up costing them.

MIA cut the HOU lead to 3, less than 24 seconds to go. HOU inbounds to Harden, who is trapped in the backcourt. Somehow he decides that the best option (despite being doubleteamed, meaning someone was open) is to launch a football type bomb all the way down the court in the direction of Dwight Howard, who even if he could catch it (it was nowhere near him) is the last guy you want shooting FTs at that point. The ball went out of bounds untouched, Howard collided with LeBron while going for it, MIA got the ball back but LeBron missed the tying shot. All's well that ends well, but not Harden's finest moment.

I hope the announcers were second guessing LeBron going for 60 (and playing most of the 4th quarter in a blowout) the night before...

I like what the Spurs are doing tonight. Except for the uniforms.
Bron'Bron doesn't like the uni's either.

I'm not making excuses, but I'm not a big fan of the jerseys.  Every time I shoot it feels like it's just pulling right up underneath my arm. I already don't have much room for error on my jump shot. It's definitely not a good thing.

Agree with Bron. I'd hate to be forced to suddenly change something that completely messes with my game just for silly marketing reasons. Great win for the Spurs, though. And scoring 142 on the Lake Show was amusing. Worst loss ever.

It's a short sample, but it's worth keeping an eye on whether Granger outperforms Evan Turner for the rest of the season. Long odds, but would be funny if it happened

Granger had about 15 minutes in last night's blowout vs the Lakers. On the one hand you could see how skilled he is -- soft shot both from deep and around the hoop, but on the other hand he's slow and has no lift -- and that was against a Laker team that was giving no resistance. I think to be helpful he'll have to find a particular niche where he focuses on what he can bring to the table as opposed to trying to be the all-around guy he once was. That will be a more helpful addition than Evan Turner, I think, because Turner seems to need to  be more of a focal point, though granted I haven't seen him with the Pacers.

heh-heh...schadenfreude, thy name is listening to ESPN radio in L.A. -- Laker homer central -- today. Even the biggest homers -- guys who argued that this was a playoff team --  accepted that this was not a loss, it was a humiliation. Ramona Shelburne is the biggest homer of them all, and spent today arguing this was all part of the Lakers' long term vision. Quite enjoyed hearing her get mocked even by other Laker homers.

good times.

These Lakers humiliations won't be nearly as funny when they land a top 3 pick in the draft.

Let's not kid ourselves, it's going to be the #1 pick. And that's only because the league can't rig it so the Knicks get it.

This.  And I am not laughing.  The Laker fan I hung out with today was though...

In other news, I am about to type something I never thought I would ever type/think.  I really like Jermaine O'Neal.  Tonight he put up 17 points on 5-8 shooting and grabbed eight boards in 19 minutes as the Warriors deboned the Hawks 111-97.  I know that he is a high injury risk given his age and the fact that he is made of porcelain.  However at age 35, he has been able to give the Dubs 20 minutes per game of a very good back-up to the also fragile Andrew Bogut.  O'Neal is, thus far, having his best shooting year of his career - with a 56.5 TS% (his second best year was back in '02-03 at 53.9) and his eFG is the second highest of his career at 50.3.  He is also having a good year on the boards, especially offensively where he is grabbing almost two ORB per/game.

Its only 28 games and he might tear his goiter tomorrow but the guy has been money in terms of play and, dare I say, veteran leadership, for a team that has desperately needed a strong second unit.

You're going to have a hard time finding Celtics fans that like Jermaine O'Neal.

At least we didn't trade Roy Hibbert for him.

Potential Western Conference first round right now between the Warriors and Clippers at Staples.    Clips have the Dubs by five heading into the fourth.  Even when Jordan Crawford is good (and that is the rare occasion) shit happens as he sinks a deep three right at the end of the third quarter, only to have it nullified by an offensive foul by Draymond Green on Bal-akay Griffin.

Lebron is taking it to his old hometown tonight.  At halftime, and he's 12-16 from the field (6-8 on 3's) for 31 points.  Only a 5 point lead for Miami, so expect to see him keep pouring it on in the second half at least for a while.

Durant scores 51 and plays 52 minutes and hits the game winning three with 1.7 seconds left in double ot to get OKC out of Tornoto with a win. Phenomenal effort.

Death. Taxes. Knee injuries to Andrew Bynum and Russell Westbrook.

Westbrook underwent an MRI on his right knee Saturday and it revealed no further damage other than confirming a knee sprain. He isn’t expected to miss any time because of the injury, but will continue to follow the initial plan to manage his minutes and availability in back-to-backs.

Beverly truly f'd over Westbrook. He was basically an iron man before that injury. And to add to it, Beverly trolling last week to start an incident with westbrook again, I'm surprised RW didn't knock him out.

Dont know if anyone has seen it online but apparently Mr. George got catfished by a guy online and sent him some dick pics. It would explain his horrible play recently

Yeah, I'm not a San Antonio fan, particularly, but impossible not to marvel. And, more importantly, I have to think they're a clearcut favorite to win it all this year.

the problem is that the Raptor who ran into him this time (forgetting who it was, though as someone just mentioned that was one hell of a game) barely touched him -- it was nothing like Beverly's punk move. No further damage yadda yadda yadda...but if every time you bump your knee you're going down, there has to be a serious underlying issue, no? I'm no doctor, so maybe not...but seems commonsensical.

I still think that the Heat, who are following the vintage Lakers "coast until the playoffs" model, are the favorites for the title, but San Antonio will give them a fight if it shakes out that way.

From fivethirtyeight.com: The Hidden Value of the NBA Steal

http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-hidden-value-of-the-nba-steal/

In fact, if you had to pick one statistic from the common box score to tell you as much as possible about whether a player helps or hurts his team, it isn’t how many points he scores. Nor how many rebounds he grabs. Nor how many assists he dishes out.

It’s how many steals he gets.

I like the bulls or nets chances at putting out one of these teams. Particularly the pacers because god damn are they terrible offensively.

And Lance Stephenson has to be Ricky Davis reincarnated, it's eerie.

After being down by seven with four minutes to go, Golden State goes on a 13-0 run to defeat the Grizzlies 100-93.  To phrase it differently, Golden State pitched a shut-out on Memphis the last four minutes of the game while Steph Curry scored buckets (en route to a 33 point night on 13-22 shooting) and Draymond Green - my favorite non-star NBA player by a large margin - shut down Z Bo who had been going nuts on the other Golden State defenders (21 pts on 10-16 shooting).

What is even more remarkable is that the Warriors played Memphis without either of Andrew Bogut and David Lee who were both out tonight.   Biggest win of the year for Golden State in a Western Conference which is seeing ridiculous competition for the last three playoff spots.

The pistons are tanking now so that they get the no 8 spot on the draft. If they fall to no 9, Charlotte gets it.

I hate to say it, because I like his game, but I think they gotta get rid of David Lee this offseason. He and Bogut don't work well together defensively and Draymond is starter-quality (and I didn't think he'd get there).
