C's lose to the Dubs but take enough juice out to soften them up for the Nets. Two game pro-tank swing, despite a Herculean final three minutes by Curry.

You know, I killed Doc acquiring his son but...though I don't watch the Clippers that consistently, I have to admit after some horrible games when he arrived, he's played really good defense and been okay spelling Paul on the offensive side. Sort of just what the Clippers needed. Good game tonight.  Go figure.

Be interesting to see if the Clips can close out the T-Wolves tonight and end their roadtrip 3-1 without Griffin. Weird that whole thing where an injury to a star is a good thing because it makes others on a team up their game. Will see what happens when he returns.

Don't doubt it, actually -- but I've seen him play two good (good=not terrible) games with my own damn eyes so I'm going on that! :)

Brian Shaw fired. What took them so long?
Supposedly they stole the old Nick Van Exel line (1-2-3-Cancun!) when broke their huddle at the end f a bad loss last week with, "1-2-3....6 weeks!" in reference to the conclusion of the season.

It is Russell Westbrook's world and everyone else is just living in it. 4th straight Triple-Double, 49-16-10 in an OT win where Dion Waiters was the teams second leading scorer AND rebounder. The MVP race this season is going to be facinating. I think it is going to come down to Curry/Harden/Westbrook. I think they disqualify LeBron just because writers will not want to vote for him again unless he is the clear favorite. If I was voting right now, I might go Westbrook. He is a much better defender than Curry and Harden (although they have both improved this season) and there is no one in the league remotely like him, and nobody has carried a team like he has this past month.

Also, Serge Ibaka needs to show up for a game like this. They are playing the 76ers, he should not go 1-5 and finish with two points and two rebounds. That is unaccpetable for a guy that has to step it up with Durant out. Statistically, he got obilerated by Luc Richard Mbha a Moute, who finished with a 18-14-5.

Westbrook is on TNT tonight and he truly is "must-see-tv".  Next level shit.

Some fun with stats.  Over his last 10 games, DeAndre Jordan is AVERAGING 20/rebounds a game.   He's now up to 14.5/game on the season.  Seems like a lot of guys putting up huge rebounding efforts lately.  12 guys averaging double digits, not including Whiteside, who doesn't qualify yet, but will soon.  Few other guys that will get back up there when their minutes catch up to some short games early on too. Drummond is actually averaging more rebounds per 48 than Jordan at 20.7 to Jordan's 20.3.

As mentioned, Westbrook is doing some shit in the last month that the game hasn't seen in a long, long, long time.  In February, he averaged 31.2ppg, 10.3apg, and 9.1rpg.  In his first game in March, he went 49/16/10.  He's off to a slow start tonight though.  Only 14/5/2, through 14 minutes.  LOL.

can a guy who does as much as Westbrook still be too aggressive and try to do too much? those last three plays lost the game

1. airball with the shot clock running down - he hits iron and maybe OKC gets the rebound, or at least take more time off the clock.
2. leaving his man to double gasol - leaving Moore wide open for the three
3. stepping out of bounds on his team's last possession (although I give more credit to Chicago's great inbound defense)

He's so good but it must be maddening for OKC fans for the best player on the floor to make those mistakes

E'Twaun Moore's career night is what makes the NBA great.  He is really the next man up with Rose gone and Butler out.

Torn achilles for Wesley Matthews. Huge loss for Portland and for him personally since he's a pending FA.

Yeah that's horrible.  Matthews broke into the league with the Jazz and tons of Jazz fans were itching to sign him back this summer.  He would have been a terrific fit, but now I'm not so sure I'd pull the trigger.  That's a tough injury to come back 100% from.

Nearly impossible to return 100% from what we've seen as very few have. The Achilles is so much worse than an ACL. Terrible timing for Wes also.

Knew it right when it happened. Awful. Was hoping the Blazers had a run in them this playoffs.

Brandon Knight with a filthy falling down floater with 1 on the shot clock, to put the Suns up 4 in OT at the Barc. Milwaukee is gonna rue the day they let him go.

Draymond Green is abusing a senior citizen tonight, holding Dirk to 1-7 shooting and three points through most of the first half of the Mavs @ Dubs game.

Dirk's line will be 5-16 for 14 points.  Draymond Green, on the other hand, will finish with 8-14 shooting for 18 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal and a block.  He is getting a max deal somewhere this offseason.

I hated Dallas' defense tonight. In transition and in semi-transition they almost always allowed the first defender to get beat up top, which is death against GS because then that guy gets in the paint and then they ping the ball into the corners. In the half-court defense I thought they did a good job, but anytime it wasn't 5 on 5, they got shredded by GS's passing. Dallas also played Barea/Rondo together for a lot of minutes, which was strange considering GS has bigger guards. Some nights they are not going to bring it, and Monta and Dirk both were cold, but I would have really liked to have seen a better effort out of them defensively. I do really like Aminu, he makes about 5 really good hustle plays a game.

The Hawks challenge will be in maintaining their offensive efficiency versus playoff level defense. Their free flowing style is ideal for the regular season but historically that changes come spring when intensity picks up in the halfcourt.

I'd be surprised if they are representing the East in The Finals. Very surprised.

I don't think Green will get a max from a good team (max deals have weird language in them and I don't think a good team will want to risk the laddering effect on him), but he's gonna get something very close.

Max deal? Do you think he's worth it? Know of any team that needs a significant SF upgrade?
Green is a prototypical 4 in todays game not a 3. Much of his offense comes from playing off Curry but the defense and command of the game he has is real. Remember too that a max this summer will be much less than what a max deal will be in 2-3 years......so the answer to your question could be both No and Yes.

Would playing Green at the 3 with Sully or Jerebko at the 4 fit well? I see not enough basketball to know if that mix could compete well. If so, keep Crowder as his backup with Zeller and Olynyk at C. All that's needed is rim protector and a 4th guard and the Celts could be very interesting next year.

Remember when people  thought that we could get Curry in a deal, for Rondo, that was awesome.

Or the people who would have turned down Rondo for Westbrook. I remember that too.

He better hope Dallas or LA wants to sign him.

Austin Rivers was the fourth best player for LA today. GS with two really convincing wins this week against DAL and GS, although I imagine LAC will have Blake and Crawford for the playoffs.

From GS or elsewhere?
I think GS will try to pay him but there are other teams who will value him.  I know this sounds insane but he is the second best player on the Warriors after Curry.  His D is better than Thompson and while he lacks Thompson's scoring ability, he can do everything really well and is a more consistent player who can help his team even when he isn't scoring.  I would be stoked if the C's went after him.  He is that good.

And willingly give up control? Not a chance!
If anything i can see him bringing in a coach to essentially promote himself if Ballmer has given him the autonomy to do so.

Were you REALLY going to make a Pat Garrity referenxe? ;)

Mavs down 4 to the Lakers with 7 minutes to go. Lin dribbles past a clearly disinterested Rondo into the paint, draws a defender and passes for easy dunk. Carlisle immediately calls the timeout and is seen talking to himself in a very upset tone as he walks onto the court. Oh boy let the fun begin.....again.

Back in the studio.....
Rick Fox: Are the Mavericks suffering with Rondo out there?
Rich Kamla: Not as much as Rondo's agent and family will be.

Ouch!!

I thought Carlisle was going to run over to Rondo and strangle him.

To Carlisle's credit the Lakers haven't scored a FG in the 5 1/2 minutes that followed.
