He's like TX's Travis Shaw. . .I know... SSS and BABiP... but I'm loving this introduction.
Unsustainable but....
His opposite field shot tonight (the double) was a tremendously good looking swing.
There was even something a little Boggs-esque in that inside-out approach. The pitch was slightly on the inner half and yet he dumps it into the left-center gap. Maybe he'll end up using the Monster this year as well as we hoped he would...His opposite field shot tonight (the double) was a tremendously good looking swing.
Brock Holt seems to be an option. Since Farrell won't use him much in the outfield, (10 innings total this year) maybe 1B is Holt's way to re-establish value.Really loving MM's double vision. The glove looks good too. Who is going to spell him though? Hanley makes sense, of course, but he seems reluctant to put the glove back on. This was mentioned on a recent broadcast. It would be nice to keep MM fresh so that sweet stroke stays strong.
It almost looks like he slides or twists his front foot into the bucket; the stride is straight forward, but he ends up positioned very open by the time of his follow through. I can't think of anyone he really resembles mechanically.Seems like he pulls off the ball, and steps in the bucket, but he still hits the ball hard to the opposite field. He hits the ball hard to center and right too. Whatever works, dude.
JBJ is back in a couple days and I think you'll be saying farewell to Selsky at that timeSelsky is on the roster at this point because he's a RHH who can play first. He's the one to spell Moreland if he needs it, at least until Rutledge is healthy. Holt presents another alternative, of course.
I expect Hanley's time at 1B is going to be limited to the occasional inter-league game in an NL park, Ortiz-style, just so his bat isn't out of the lineup for an entire series.
Can panda slide over and play first and put Marco at third on occasion to rest MM?Brock Holt seems to be an option. Since Farrell won't use him much in the outfield, (10 innings total this year) maybe 1B is Holt's way to re-establish value.
Back to MM, it must be comforting to Panda and X to fire it in there, confident that our 1B will scoop, extend, stretch and position himself with the best of them.
Sandoval has 12 innings at 1B in the past 5 seasons (2012-16). All in 2012.Can panda slide over and play first and put Marco at third on occasion to rest MM?
And he hurt himself pretty badly playing first.Sandoval has 12 innings at 1B in the past 5 seasons (2012-16). All in 2012.
And he said after that injury he never wanted to play first again, and the Giants agreed with him. Of course, what somebody said five years ago might not carry much water today. And he hurt himself pretty badly playing first.
