Heh, why would you want to watch writers read their tweets out loud more than an actual Dodgers/Giants game? Why wouldn't MLB Network black out game coverage during the trade deadline?I would love to tune to baseball coverage and instead ESPN has NFL coverage, MLBN is playing the Giants game, and nobody else is covering this stuff except the radio shows. What a waste.
There are over 4800 games a year. I couldn't care less about that one!Heh, why would you want to watch writers read their tweets out loud more than an actual Dodgers/Giants game?
I like the Giants a lot and didn't know that game was on. Just turned it on, thanks to you guys. Sosh seems to have the info pretty quick about the trade stuff, and it's always fun to see the over-rated David Price give up four runs and come out of the game after the fourth inning. There are over 4800 games a year. Do the Dodgers have unlimited money and prospects?
@JonHeymanWhat are the Mets doing? Mets fans are going to be furious if improvements aren't made.
Career, they're up there. At this stage of their careers, though?I’d probably slot them third
They are both Hall of Famers right now. I think it’s Koufax-Drysdale, Maddox-Glavine, then these two.Career, they're up there. At this stage of their careers, though?
They aren't at their peaks.Where do Scherzer and Kershaw rank as the best pitching duos of all-time? Behind Maddux/Glavine?
Clearly, but I meant careers. Just two amazing pitchers next to each other. They aren't at their peaks.
Praying for rain has been the Yankees 2nd best pitcher. Maybe best if you go by recency bias.Koufax and Drysdale. Spahn and Sain.
Johnson and Schiling. Halliday and Cliff Lee?
If recency bias is only today, yes. Before today, they had a sub-2 ERA from their SPs combined in the last 19 games, the four guys besides Cole (Taillon/Montgomery/German/Cortes) are all pitching very well currently. Their offense and lack thereof is what has hurt their season so far, that and a very over his head manager.Praying for rain has been the Yankees 2nd best pitcher. Maybe best if you go by recency bias.
Clemens/Seaver if we're going to play that game.Clearly, but I meant careers. Just two amazing pitchers next to each other.
Are the Dodgers acquiring Ohtani?
And they kept Lux/May/Cartaya/Busch/Miller. It's like an OOTP team with Commissioner Mode on.Shit. Bummed about Rizzo to the Yankees, one of my favorite non-Sox in the game.
And fuck me if the Dodgers get Scherzer AND Turner. How can they afford that kind of hit to their farm system and budget?
FWIW, that deferral money is the only money they're paying Scherzer. His entire salary this year is deferred, so while they're taking the luxury tax hit on his salary this year, they're not actually paying a dime to Scherzer for seven years.View: https://twitter.com/chelsea_janes/status/1420926351025090560
Dodgers are also eating Scherzer's 2028 deferral money ($12M)
Isn't it weird that this is the most exciting baseball has been in years? A frikkin trade deadline? It kind of overshadowed the draft last night.
This is how baseball gets energy back into the sport. Crazy deadlines and offseasons with a lot of moving players. I maintain that part of why basketball is so damn popular is because of the constant reshuffle and drama around it.
Holy shit, he has an OPS+ of 54. He won the MVP two seasons ago, won the ROY four seasons ago. His OPS+ for his first three seasons was 144! He wasn't great last year (OPS+ of 97), but it was a weird yearBellinger has been absolutely horrid this year, so would think it would be a bad time to trade him. Not sure what type of haul in prospects you'd get for him right now.
Lingering effects from the shoulder injury in last years playoffs?Holy shit, he has an OPS+ of 54. He won the MVP two seasons ago, won the ROY four seasons ago. His OPS+ for his first three seasons was 144! He wasn't great last year (OPS+ of 97), but it was a weird year
What happened to this guy??
He's dislocated his shoulder a couple of times, and - just ask Adrian Gonzalez - shoulder injuries tend to really mess a hitter up. Dodgers are probably glad they didn't sign him to an extension after 2019!Holy shit, he has an OPS+ of 54. He won the MVP two seasons ago, won the ROY four seasons ago.
