Ok, those numbers surprise me - I remember a few good runs by Ricky Leaf, but I hate to say he is right here.

Fucking facts. They suck.

BTW, I'm a little surprised Bradshaw' foot has gotten zero burn in the media, since he's missed a lot of practice time (last week, and today), and it's been a problem for him for a while. Same with Nicks' AC joint.
There is a subtle but important difference between "ran the ball well on them, especially late" and "ran the ball well on them late". One insinuates that they were good all game and even better at the end and the other only refers to the end.

The fact is, Rice and Williams combined for 27 carries for 89 yards. That's 3.3 yards per carry, a damn site less than the 4.5 they averaged this season. The fact remains they did not "run the ball well on them". That "hot" end only brought the ypc up from disaster (2.6 ypc) to awful (3.3 YPC).

Where it rains. No, seriously.
Times like this make me miss Mike & the Mad Dog:

"laughing-stock"

"starts with the owner and the stooges under him"

"nothing to do with football or winning games"

"cut the legs out from under the QB"

"Giants are classy..."

Francesa losing it. "They can't stand being second fiddle to a better organization." Good stuff.

"He will sell you tickets. HE WILL NOT WIN YOU GAMES."

Leaving in a bit to the studio :)
"he is what he is. They're USING him!!"

"this is a colossal disaster!"

Denver only made the playoffs because the other teams were doing stupid things to lose the gmes.

Paraphrase: Jets overpaid with a 4th rounder. No, wait, Jets got him for free, since they would have wasted/screwed up the draft pick anyway.

A caller just called in and said that Tebow could be to the Jets what Aaron Hernandez is to the Pats....

Mike: "WHAT?!?!? He's not a tight end! Aaron Hernandez is a tight end! Sometimes he's a receivah!!! Tim Tebow's just a QB who runs around! He's Bobby Douglas! He is NOT Aaron Hernandez!"

:bravo:

"How many times has Tom Brady answered a question about the backup QB in the past 10 years? Mawk Sanchez and Rex Ryan are going to get those questions EVERY DAY"

He is killing the Jets again. They don't know what they're doing; they just want buzz. The Giants win February, and the Jets are the masters of May. Kings of the off-season. Mentioning the Pats destroying Tebow now. Yeah, they're scared of this wrinkle in the offense, etc.

Tannenbaum on Mike'd On right now.

1. Tebow adds another element to their offense.
2. Doesn't know what will happen with Stanton. Talk to his agent.
3. Tebow is the backup.
4. Mark is the starter, Tim is the backup. That said, we like Tim, zone runs, short yardage, passes out of the wildcat,
5. Tim can run the regular offense sure, but..yada yada yada. Good lord this guy is full of crap.
6. Things in Tim's game that are stronger than passing, but that said, he's a winner, beat the Steelers, etc.
7. What is the offense? {no clear response, but Tebow's offense will be situational and decided game by game)
8. Why is anyone missing Brad Smith? Great change of pace guy, we missed him, see Tim a similar way. another weapon, but Mark is the starter
9. Brad Smith is not an NFL starter, that said Tim can do different things but some of the same things, but Mark is the starter...
10. Tebow's popularity was not a factor, all about winning games.
11. More mentions of Brad Smith, (who was and is nobody.)
12. Tebow wants to play more but that said he's the number 2 qb.
13. Why emphasis on the wildcat? We think it can still be effective, we have a vision for it.
14. Sparano coached Tebow for a week at the senior bowl, so extra level of familiarity.
15. Mark is the leader of the team, but we are enhancing our offense with extra packages for Tim to make it more diverse.
16. This is just another element of our offense. Tebow will have packages and plays, he's a special player.

I give up. Guy is mealy-mouthed.

good lord this is all so fantastic. Francesa trolling Jets fans might be one of the greater things to happen lately. (not that his act is new)

Is this Sour Shoes on now?
Sour shoes' impression of Mike and Mad Dog is breathtaking. They played it on Stern and I tuned into the middle and thought I was listening to the real M&M. Great stuff.

Not quite as incredible as the Evil Dave Letterman, but great none the less.

In related WFAN anniversary news, the WFAN crew rang the closing bell at the NYSE today. Boomer and Carton, what looked to be Steve Somers and a bunch of suits.

They have posted the first three hours of the 25th anniversary show on the website. Dog is on hour 3
beginning around the 13:30 mark.
Thanks for the link. When I heard the theme music it all came rushing back.
They both promised that if it's a Giants/Yankees World Series they would co-mingle their shows somehow.

I'd love to hear them back together for an extended time but THAT PRICE IS TOO DAMN HIGH!

Much as I love rooting for Cain and Lincecum, it is never a good thing to have the MFYs add to their pennant collection.

Where it rains. No, seriously.
Warren Sapp was under the impression that Francesa was a former offensive lineman.

Posnanski on tomorrow.

Edit:...and Mike classically just reminded his listeners that he didn't think the Yankees would win Game 7 in '04, forgetting "There is no way the Red Sox win tonight. There is no way the Sox come into Yankee Stadium on Mickey Mantle's birthday and win this game 7."

Some day some team will come back from 3-0 but not tonight.

Sapp must have also been under the impression that the seven second delay was in use because some foul language went out over the air on YES. Someone should call Mike out on his selective memory about that game 7. He was a good sport the day after, but he was a typical arrogant Yankees fan on the day of the game.

Mike is losing his mind over the Mets to open the show. This is like an old school Dog style rant, and the Mets deserve every bit of it after being swept at home by Colorado.

"Ah you kidding me? Tha Rawkies are 46-73. Their pitching staff is the worst in the major leagues. THEY STINK!!!!!"

"If I was Wilpon, I couldn't show my face in public with this team."

"they'll sell you on the kid pitchers. Do I have to trot out the names? They told us to wait for Generation K. Well, we're still waiting!!!!!"

I think this was misplaced anger because he knows his MFYs are in the process of choking away a division and possible a playoff spot.

Rip Collins all you want, but there's no denying the Mets are running a weak team out there every night, and Collins did a good job keeping them in contention for as long as he did given the limitations of the talent on their roster.

You can rip a manager when his team fails to live up to expectations. But when the expectations for a team with none coming into the season are raised by their early season play, it's unfair to start ripping them when they start playing down to their talent and come back down to Earth.

Is Collins trying to put a good face on a bad situation? Undoubtably. But what is he supposed to do, rip his players in the media? We see where that gets a team.

Let's see Francesa rip Giradi like this when the MFYs fall out of first and he makes statements about "trying to remain positive". Hopefully, that opportunity will present itself sometime in the very near future.
