I think their bus will break down so the game has to be canceled and the Marlins have to refund all the tickets.

Give the top 3 of the rotation 2-3 inning each followed by the set up guy and closer. Pedal to the metal, don't let up and then listen to the bitches complain about that. .

It’s hard to see how the Marlins have much of a leg to stand on here, though, if they do contact the league office. They’ve thus far played four road games, but the first of those was in their home park (they share Roger Dean Stadium with the Cardinals). In their three actual road games, they’ve brought along four starters just once:
March 1: Christian Yelich, Casey McGehee
March 2: Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Marcell Ozuna
March 5: Rafael Furcal, Marcell Ozuna, Garrett Jones, Casey McGehee
Their one draw, Giancarlo Stanton, has played in all four home games this month, but he hasn’t made any trips.
Ehh....the church doesn't smell much better with two people farting. He should have just left the Marlins' Methane lingering. Playing the grownup is *always* the best strategy.Savin Hillbilly said:My love and respect for John Henry just quadrupled.
I don't agree with the conclusion.derekson said:So when do the Marlins get fined for the March 1 and March 2 games? If the Marlins want to start this crap then they should be held to the same standards.
From Hardball Times article.

Then they would be back to their "running up the score" complaint.YTF said:I say go with the starting nine as deep into the game as you can, preferably it will be a late spring game where they may get more innings,. Every once in a while when he gets embarrassed by the fact that I watch every game, he will say he is a big Marlins fan but he has never actually sat and watched a whole game on tv and doesn't know any of the players on the team.

Lots of highschoolers can throw 80. I was pretty sure it was 90. And after Maalox flailed at 20 (?) pitches and barely put one (weakly) into play, the guy told Loxie that he was lucky to be facing his four-seamer, because his two-seamer moved even more. Basically, weeks of practice in the batting cages were nowhere near good enough preparation for pitches thrown by actual humans.
I wasn't there myself, but I remember the thread afterwards was a pretty good read, especially Maalox's biting self-critique.
I hope the fine is $1.00Tyrone Biggums said:This MLB fine is a joke. The Sox should only agree to pay it if Loria gives back the public funding money for his stadium. The Marlins revel in the fact they ended up scamming the city of Miami for $400 million. Samson touted this as an "accomplishment" on Survivor. So they aren't actually hiding this at all. But this is also the same guy who teamed with Selig to kill baseball in Montreal. What should happen is that they're forced to sell the Marlins to someone who will move them to Montreal. Then as a reward for the city of Miami send the Rays to play in that stadium. Two Florida teams are overkill anyways. The Marlins fielded an "all star" roster for the first year the stadium opened then went back to the same old stuff. Loria should have been out of the game a long time ago.
Exactly my argument to him. Things get ugly when he wants me to switch over from the Red Sox game to the Marlins. I watch every game I can and no I am not going to switch to something you think of only because you saw my game on. I don't know what is worse, marrying someone who doesn't like baseball or marrying a Yankee fan. We also fight about my four year old. He wants him to be a Marlins fan because he is growing up here. I say that people who live here aren't Marlins fans and I want him to grow up rooting for a real team. It's bad enough that I am going to lose on the Dolphins/Patriots argument, I am not giving in on this one.Rasputin said:

What the hell? What definition of "fan" is he using? I think the definition has to be broad enough so people can miss some games during the season because shit happens, but if you aren't making an effort to watch as many games as humanly possible, there is something wrong with you and you need to be replaced with a replicant of some sort.

I moved down here a year ago and have experienced the same thing. Any time I bring up baseball my coworkers will bitch about Loria a bit, and then move on to breathlessly discussing last night's Heat game.Rovin Romine said:I've been here for awhile and, like you, I know only a handful of Marlins "Fans" - and most of those really have the Marlins as a second "local" team. As it is now, most people who'd nominally be fans seem to kind of sort of watch the Marlins when they're on, or go to see a game when an interesting visiting team is in town. They are willing to be happy for the Marlins if they go on a run, but no one really seems to bond with the team.
If the Marlins had any kind of tradition to go with the WS successes, they'd have far more of a fan base than they do.
But the fire sales and the stadium fiasco pretty much make everyone down here "once bitten."
(BTW, Miami/SoFL is a very viable market for baseball - the crowds at the WBC were larger than expected. http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/2013-03-16/sports/fl-wbc-0317-20130316_1_usa-dominican-marlins-park-dominican-republic )

So, I trust SoSH is checking Marlins box scores from this spring and writing numerous complaints to MLB about games the Marlins didn't send enough regulars too, right? Or have we grown lazy and weak?
If you are going to try to benefit from Red Sox fans through 'premium pricing' you also have to recognize the risk of pissing them off...
