He also managed in the minors and the Dominican league. Not that Law is wrong, but is Rojas managerial experience seen as a positive?
I'm trying to read what it says, "It's not the critic who counts. It belongs to the man who is actually in the arena." Is that what it says? JFC. Even if I have a few words off, the sentiment is "Life, Laugh, Love" for hardos. The dude picked up a piece of driftwood at Homegoods and got it tattooed on his arm. I guess nothing is disqualifying anymore.
He’s literally named “Skip.”Managerial experience is way down the list of qualifications below being a former scrappy Cards player. Everything is. I'd also point out being Caucasian, but that's just an inherent aspect of being scrappy. It was always predestined that Skip Schumaker would be a major league manager. Why waste time and effort over menial procedures to get there?
Hmm...this kind of undersells Schumaker. Skip was "associate manager" for the Padres in 2020 and 2021, which is a position that the Padres invented to lighten the load of then-first-year manager Jayce Tingler. Schumaker handled many of the pre- and post-game press conferences in Tingler's stead and was apparently tasked with a bunch of other manager-y things that were never fully defined to the press. It's not the same as being a manager, but I think it would at least put him on par with Espada, whose only managerial experience was in winter ball. So I'm not sure that I buy Law's take.Law really lays into the Marlins hiring Schumaker.

Wasn’t Matheny supposed to be a straight up asshole in St. Louis? Like, having one pitcher in the bullpen bully or spy on the rest? I can’t imagine a guy who was less suited to coaching a young team in 2022.I think he's definitely a better fit for the talented rookie/youth core that KC has right now and it's a good window to be installed in KC for another competitive bridge and run with the recent housecleaning of Dayton Moore and Mike Matheny. Matheny wasn't that much older, but definitely generation gap between MM's old school management style and Quataro's experiences with CLE and TB.
