Blank check for Bochy coming.

This may be the wrong attitude for a nice guy like me, but I'm against anything that gives Manny Machado a chance to win. He's the type who could keep those egos from getting too big of a head
The local media out here has been on the Bochy-come-back train for years now. Also lives in SD already.
I see what you did there...He's the type who could keep those egos from getting too big of a head
Curious move as the team came back from the dead with a late season 17 game winning streak to make the Wild Card Game only to lose to the Dodgers on a walk-off."All I can say is where we felt the team was going, we were struggling to get on the same page," Mozeliak said. "With him having one year remaining on his contract, we could have gone into 2022 having that over him, and we just decided that internally it would be best to separate now and take a fresh look as we head into a new season."
Not following the Cards closely, it's hard to tell what philosophical differences there may have been. The guy has been in the Cardinal organization since 2004 and made the post-season in each of his three full years at the helm. Seems like they must be changing team philosophies significantly if a guy who's been there for 18 years isn't on the same page any more. And from out of nowhere... St. Louis has fired Mike Shildt due to philosophical differences:

WTF does that mean? (I vote "nothing," as its likely some post hoc rationalization disguised as insight). Shildt was in the organization since 2004.He was the favorite from the start of the search, and is well-immersed in the culture of the organization, having worked his way up since being drafted by St. Louis in 2007.
Shildt got too big for his britches in the eyes of F.O. They are going to strict yes man model. Not following the Cards closely, it's hard to tell what philosophical differences there may have been.
