I know everyone loves shitting on Lavar but saying he should replicate one of the better long range shooters in NBA history’s teaching methods with Lavar is being a bit unfair. It’s a hell of a lot easier for Dell to do that with his prodigal son than Lavar with his.Makes total sense that he would have issues shooting the 3 with a nearby defender given his bizarre motion, which starts weirdly low and forward and takes a while to load up. Accuracy can and usually does improve with increased reps, but release time and blockability doesn't.
Instead of pimping Lonzo 24/7, maybe LaVar should have taken a couple months during some high school offseason to break down and rebuild his shot, as Dell did with Steph.
Yeah but then SRN couldn’t make it about Curry.I know everyone loves shitting on Lavar but saying he should replicate one of the better long range shooters in NBA history’s teaching methods with Lavar is being a bit unfair. Is Curry bad with money?I know everyone loves shitting on Lavar but saying he should replicate one of the better long range shooters in NBA history’s teaching methods with Lavar is being a bit unfair. It’s a hell of a lot easier for Dell to do that with his prodigal son than Lavar with his.
Even House of Pain at least got part of the story. Is Curry bad with money?
That daughter of his looks like trouble—I can see it maybe taking some coin to keep her living in the style to which she has become accustomed..,
3 steals and 2 blocks too. That’ll keep the hype machine rolling for a while.Triple double for Lonzo tonight.
SLMVPLB is his official name, and the only way he will be referred to, in my small circle. And just the initials too; that way the hanger on's that don't know...fuck em'.I'm pro renaming the "triple double" the "Lonzo"

You act like Magic ain't already jealous of SLMVPLB. Anyway, on topic: I saw where he passed Lebron as the quickest to get a Lonzo which is awesome.
Led his team to an impressive single digit loss
IF you don't know Bill Walton is a human hyperbole machine an a troll by now, then you may not have listened to him much.Holy crap bill Walton
Jeez. They've already named the thing they play with the "Ball." Where does it end?I'm pro renaming the "triple double" the "Lonzo"
Well done.Jeez. They've already named the thing they play with the "Ball." Where does it end?
This is a winnerJeez. They've already named the thing they play with the "Ball." Where does it end?
They need that hype machine to justify the pick, hell their next pick in the draft is likely the one they should be hyping. If Lonzo doesn't spend this entire off-season re-working his shot he's done in 3 years. At yet when I was in LA on Monday, the local sports radio guys made it sound like Lonzo was indeed the second coming of Magic. The hype machine is still going strong.
I realize that was at least somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but The Ringer had a recent article evaluating draft picks since 1985. They found the first 10 games actually lets you make surprisingly accurate predictions about whether or not the player will be a bust.0 FTA in 6 of his last 10 games, plus an 0-1 in there. Can’t get to the line, won’t succeed
And that says nothing about the hit he's taking to his confidence and what impact that might have. A lot has been said about Jason Kidd's shooting woes in the media lately, but his rookie season he was still undisputedly the floor general on that team. Lonzo is playing so...small...most of the time.I wasn't really being tongue in cheek. He can't get to the line, and when he does, he is at 50%. His shot sucks. Hard to see him being a star.
Possible that it's all sample size. But it's also possible that college guards had to respect the drive more and mitigate their challenges somewhat. NBA defenders probably aren't giving him as much space to get his glacial shot off.I'm still scratching my head over his 41.2% 3-pt. shooting in college. I know the line's a little closer than in the NBA, but whoa. He's had some serious slippage to where he is now at, what, 23%?

Kidd was also a very good athlete before the knee injury, who could get to the rim and use his physicality to bully other guards.Sample size and NBA quality defense.
Re: Jason Kidd, his shot was bad but not nearly as bad as Lonzo. As Boston fans, we should know a player can have a dreadful shot and still be good but Lonzo isn't Marcus.
Of course, Williams took more than 500 free throws. Lonzo not even 100.Jay Williams shot 45.3% at Duke and then only 32.2% his rookie year, but hard to say how much of that was adjusting to the triangle and also playing on a pretty shitty Bulls team. But J-Will also showed signs of not being a great shooter when you look at his college FT% - only 67.1%. Remarkably similar to Lonzo actually, who shot 67.3%.
Kidd wasn't a very good athlete - he was one of the best of his generation. But I agree about the comparison (and have said as much in the past).Kidd was also a very good athlete before the knee injury, who could get to the rim and use his physicality to bully other guards.
I think the Kidd-Lonzo comparisons are pretty overblown.
It was always the best comp. A less athletic Rubio who is worse on Defense. Ball was never in the athletic realm of Kidd/Magic etc. Thus far, oddly, the comp is Ricky Rubio isn't it? Surprising defensive value, great passing, horrendous shooting. I don't expect that to hold longer-term, but interesting it's the start.
And a far worse FT shooter who gets to the line less.It was always the best comp. A less athletic Rubio who is worse on Defense. Ball was never in the athletic realm of Kidd/Magic etc.
