I happened to flip across NESN just as they were bringing in the smiling young female African-American intern for a brief on-screen appearance on her final day toward the end of today's program. Seemed like a sweet kid, and I'd like to think the gesture was genuine, but can't help the suspicion that it was contrived.

"See???? We're NOT racists!!"
I think they do it every year (bringing the interns on air)...and if I remember correctly, all the shows gave their interns "exit interviews"

New contract, quick jump in the ratings due to T&R vacation and Erin Andrews scandal and now these dopes seem to be going back to the routine of more political and bigotry talk. This is the formula that almost drove them off the air until Minnihan came along threw them a life jacket. Hopefully their new contract is relatively short so they can dig themselves a ratings hole they cannot climb out of. The show is completely unlistenable again and i'm someone who would only tune in during T&R commercials.

Yep, you're not alone. I used to listen with some frequency (first choice on the dial). I've totally jumped off, don't bother any more. And if I end back there between two commercials elsewhere, it doesn't take more than 10 seconds to rush back to where I came..

I'm not a fan but to me it seems obvious that they've found a balance that works well for them.  I see a lot of posts about D&C hanging themselves by their own rope, but at this point Entercom has repeatedly demonstrated that they're more than happy to look the other way so long as the ratings are up.  Kirk's EA comments were pretty egregious yet they declined to punish him until only after a major advertiser pulled themselves, and then it was just for a week.  That scenario isn't likely to repeat itself again and you can be damn sure there won't be another Metco type race comment again (due to their own desire of self survival).
I would expect T&R will get back to #1 but I don't think it'll be at the blowout level it was a year ago.
Who knows though, I could be totally off here, but Nielsen ratings have always struck me as make believe.

Interesting to hear Minihane naming names as to who rushed to his defense and who didn't .

Chad Finn:
Yeah. That Zo called him doesn't surprise me at all.

Does anyone what this is in reference too and where this discussion by minihane took place?  (radio or printed column for example?)

Boston Sports Media Watch is usually a good source on stuff like this. But I don't know if they have anything on this specifically. You could check - and then link to their work back here for anyone else interested.

Bruce Allen's posting there has gotten a bit sporadic and when he does post it is quite often to point out negativity in the media. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he said he was bored with his site and moved on to something else over the next year or two.

At the end of Friday's show they were asking Kirk who reached out to him when he was suspended and who didn't. Said some people at the other station did, including Zo. Said Fauria and Adams didn't.

Though he also said that Adam's didn't even know he was suspended so they gave him a pass.

Hard to believe he wouldn't know but that is what they said and I don't think it was a joke.

Have you listened to Mike Adams? The only hard thing to believe about Mike Adams is that he still has a job. I would believe he didn't know the world was round.

The things Mike Adams knows fit into a tri-fold pamphlet.

What exactly is the protocol in that situation? Was Fauria supposed to call up Minihane and say, "Hey Kirk, sorry to hear you got suspended for making those misogynist comments".

I probably haven't listened to more than 5 minutes of Mike Adams but that is plenty long enough to know how dumb he is. That said this was kind of a big deal and it's hard to imagine someone in the industry was unaware it even happened.
I've learned my lesson, never underestimate how dumb Mike Adams is.

This has to be an example of his stupidity because I've only heard good things about Mike Adams as a person.

Adams is so bad at his job that I've long assumed he must either own dirty photos of station management or be a terrific guy everyone likes in person.

Gerry' voice sounds like he has been on a three-day whiskey and cigarette bender. I just hope it's not his "throat issue" rearing its ugly head.

It's awesome how much the Globe trolls D&C.
But also pretty piss poor that Silva doesn't cite his source for the quotes, ie the D&C show.

Actually he did, in the second sentence of the article:
“The beard’s gone,” Brady said during his weekly appearance on WEEI's Dennis & Callahan Show. “I was really pissed off in this morning. [Gisele] is very happy it’s gone. Kids didn’t mind.”

What is Dennis so pissed off about? I read both his and KPD's tweets and couldn't find anything that was even remotely incendiary by KPD.

I wonder what John Dennis did before Twitter? Did he scribble his media musings on the stalls of bathroom walls?

"Will McDonough needs an ass-kicking and Ray Clayborn is the one to do it!"
"Leigh Montville couldn't write a post card!"

Not deleted, you have to go back 24+ hours

But they still don't make sense, just howling at the moon while KDP is like 'ok'

Uh oh, d&c won the summer book
Opened the show with full on crowing
Isn't that sort of like winning the Spring Training Title or going 5-0 in the pre season? I thought with vacations and fill-ins, the summer book was the least reliable or least valuable of the ratings? When the money is on the line, haven't Toucher and Rich finished in first place?

he addressed that point...I missed the beginning but he was at some function where people were asking questions (maybe some sort of press conf?) and he mentioned someone asking about why they hated on chad finn when he writes nice things about them, and also how someone "outed" themselves as being from 98.5 because they asked about the summer book basically being a throw away because of vacations etc

edit:  in response to richgedman's ghost

double edit:  apparently this is from some sports chat thing they're doing now

Dennis mentioned yesterday that someone asked him this in his online chat and he said it must been someone from The Sports Hub because that's inside-radio type knowledge. Amazing how out of touch he is.

He also had a good line about how EVERY negotiation goes to the 11th hour and that both sides ABSOLUTELY knew the deal would get done

but yet Callahan signed his new deal weeks before the deadline

John Dennis (mockingly?) berating the EEI cleaning lady for not taking his $20 tip ("TAKE IT!") was funny in the usual sad way.

Gerry Callahan saying "That's probably more..." (than she makes in X, presumably) and having his mike cut off by a producer was funnier, again, in the usual sad way.

And earlier, someone got flat-out BLEEPED (Kirk?) and then dumped.

This formula change is working for them. Until the producer is slow on the button. I wonder if they are on 15 or 20 second delay so they can "push the envelope"? Industry standard is, IIRC, seven.

They weren't saying it was more than she made in a week, they said she made more than one of their producers made this week(don't recall which one).
It seemed like a pretty nice thing to do to me, I didn't hear it at all like you did and don't recall anyone microphone being cut.

Was today the last NESN broadcast?
Guess JD can go ahead and have his stomach staple procedure reversed now.

Credit where it is due, D & C lobbed no softballs to Tom Brady this morning.  They asked him about Amendola and his complete lack of production.  They asked Brady how to rate his own performance.  They asked him about the offensive line and if trading Mankins was a mistake.  Brady wasn't his usual calm and collected self, though he indirectly criticized the receivers route running, and the personnel.

Granted Dennis still had his usual douchey, gasbaggy tone, and Minihane turtled from asking anything tough, but it was decent radio.

I like this program much better that Toucher and Rich. Minihan is witty and quick, and I think he complements the other personalities. I do not agree with Gerry's politics, and when they used to talk politics and Gerry was calling everyone who didn't agree with his point of view a "ding-bat," I grew annoyed by the show. But, they talk mostly sports now and they make me laugh on the drive in to work. I listen to them about a half-hour each day (Monday through Friday).

Toucher and Rich--Howard Stern wannabees, stupid senses of humor, and low sports IQs, in m opinion.

The Howard Stern wannabes are D & C featuring M.  Minihane's feigned outrage concerning his censorship and threats to quit are classic Stern rants from years ago.  The conflict with other shows also is a Stern act from years ago.  Callahan and Minihane's referral to "Howie Hamptons" is such a desperate/obvious attempt for Stern to call them out.  Kind of pathetic.

Your analysis of my opinion (or lack of analysis) is an interesting one. Can an opinion be right or wrong? It is my point of view. It is neither right or wrong. That my opinion sucks . . . well, that's your opinion, which is neither right or wrong. I think Toucher and Rich sound like Beavis and Butthead, minus a few dozen IQ points. You like them better. To each his own. I'll be damned if I disparage you for your lack of sophistication and good taste.
