Well, with the Mets heading to Philly for four, maybe they can have a managerial death match -- if one team takes the series, the losing manager gets fired. All things considered, I think Callaway at least has a chance to learn from his mistakes. I don't think Kapler believes he ever makes mistakes.
It's Trevor Bauer, so dunno how seriously to take it, but in the new book 'The MVP Machine', Bauer is really harsh about Callaway not allowing him to pitch how he wanted.
Also, Callaway and Jason Vargas just had an altercation with a Newsday reporter in the clubhouse.
"Mickey Callaway and Jason Vargas just cursed out, and in Vargas case, challenged a reporter to a fight in the clubhouse."
"Mickey did not like a remark made by a reporter as he walked by in the clubhouse. "Don't be a smartass, mother*******." Later says: "get the **** put of here. We don't need that bull****""
"Vargas then got into a shouting match with the reporter, over a staredown, and said at one point: "Ill knock you the f*** out, bro." He charged such reporter and had to held back by Gomez and Syndergaard."
"Callaway told the public relations staff to “Get this motherf—-er” out of the clubhouse and when Healey didn’t leave, Vargas got into a stare down with him. Words were exchanged and Vargas had to be restrained from him."
